Those admins are sooooo s__p_d.

I know what you mean jipay! :P Its not like we were advertising the site for a profitable reason or anything. It was just to help europeans lego fans to enjoy and have fun with their hobby. I am really not happy with "the mods" over at fbtb  . Just one toe out of line and.. *WHAM* they hit you like a ton of bricks, lego bricks of course!

Still, I hope the shadow of our locked thread catches peoples attention and encourages them to come and take a look at the site. Although, BJ deleted the link too, the stupid....

One of the nasty mods like Collin or BJ will probably lock it but hey, its worth a try  :P !

he he! Hate to say it guys but, hey i told you so :P !!!

I just want to know why FBTB are so against promoting sites, other than things related to them. Argh! They really get to me some times!!

I thought this was a pretty cool topic as it gives a peak into what the past EB was like and man was it different

Here are five things I found interesting

1. There was a guest account anyone can use to post

2. The last post was marked unread (until now)

3. 5 years later and over 5000 members (that is over 1000 new each year)

4. Ask to be an admin and bam your admin

5. Obviously there wasn't much love for the fbtb

I think if you wanted more people to join Eurobricks you might want to try to offer it to younger people. Most people interested in lego are 10-12 years old. But then we might get posts like this...

whatz up dawg? playin vid game riht noww and buildin a AWESOME lego MOC lol rofl cya! l8ter dude.

I don't think we want that

Eurobricks is growing at a good speed in my opinion. Maybe eurobricks could offer more contests and group activities to welcome guests but other than that I think its doing fine.

It's growing much much much much much faster at the moment. Since I joined early 2009, almost 2,000 people signed up... and some got banned again  .

It really goes to show just how much this great website has evolved. Even the members, I can't ever remember when I ever saw Jipay post "lol". It frightens me. But the amount of members this website has garnered astonishes me, but I'm happy for it, even though the LAST thing we need is more members.

If you need to clear a few out, call me up and I'll "Silence them" for you, and then write DeathStories about them the next day. I'm just that desperate.

Then again... there are 2,300 member with 0 post and 4,000 with less than 10 posts.

Now that I'm at it: 11 members have more than 5,000 posts and there's a few spammers with more than 10,000 even.

Perhaps the way to get more members is to advertise in the "Real" world of AFOLs. If Eurobricks had a booth, at european conventions it might raise awareness of the site. Sponsoring competitions at conventions, or doing some kind of charity raffle at those conventions would be another way to get the word out there.

As far as I know, most online AFOL groups are online, only, but in venturing into the real world some MOCs, a nice "Eurobricks" banner and maybe a poster or two on tripods showing what Eurobricks has to offer would go a long way toward drawing in new members, maybe even new members who hadn't previusly taken the online LEGO fan community seriously.
