jirin Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 (edited) Hello, I present my latest model, still in progress - let's say it is a beta version. It is a Martian fighting machine, a scout one - smaller and lighter, than models I'm going to make (hope so) in the future. It is completely made up, I was not copying any particular design. The model is about 35 cms tall and stands quite well, althought is a bit fragile, there is definitely a room for improvements. Like the proper Martian tripod, it has a beam emitter, black smoke discharger (the weapon on the flexible arm from the side) and cage for humans. Unfortunately I ran out of necessary parts, like hoses for tentecles etc, so it is still work in progress. Photos are bit rubbish, but I hope you like the model. Peppermint_M Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 An excellent rendering of the invaders, I look forward to seeing the finished build. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Glassjaw Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Great model, I’ve got plans for smaller tripods when I finish my current projects, and it’ll be based around the Nexo Knights shield holder pieces. I’m a big fan of this build, and I like the colour scheme. I really rate the way the top ‘head’ looks like a tank turret, very efficient. The inclusion of a cage and a black smoke launcher makes me very happy, I read the book often so I’m glad you added them. I always pictured the black smoke launcher being represented by the old pirate cannon piece from the descriptions but your modern update on it all is really well executed. Quote
jirin Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 Thank you all. Yes, it is inspired by the War of the Worlds. I wanted the tripod to look more "industrial", but also to incorporate "classic" Martian characteristics, like tentacles etc. Also trying to incorporate some biological elements. On this tripod it is done by the trans-neon green pieces, which is too little in my opinion... Quote

A couple of those would look like mouth of tentacles as they are very thin and curved? 16 hours ago, jirin said: Thank you all. Yes, it is inspired by the War of the Worlds.
