Lamanda2 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 (edited) Hey, For a couple months now, I have been doing more work with fabric, designing different patterns for minifig capes. Now, most recently I have done some designs on wavey flags as well as some small Star Wars shoulder capes (Based on the official shape). Some of you may have seen some of these on Brickshelf already, as I added the most recent pictures to my gallery yesterday. Capes Normal Sized Cape Gallery (The only one that has yet to go public... Temporarily, you can see most of them in this folder) Short Cape Gallery (Just one design so far! I'll be working on more though.) Long Capes I came up with the main shape of this cape in late 2006, during the CCCIV. I just recently made up a template and some patterns for it. I'm hoping to come up with an extension piece for the cape to give it a more royal look soon. Just working on the template for that today, so I should hopefully get some made within this week. Long Cape Gallery Shoulder Capes (Paudrons) Pauldron Gallery Ok, I love the old Star Wars movies (Only ones I have seen, and just a couple times), but I'm definetely not a junkie, so I can't say if my color choices are accurate; I really just chose the yellow and white 'cause they looked cool to me. Flags Flag Gallery I made some designs in both Verticle and Horizontal variations. Since I can only print these on one side, I think the verticle styles would have nice benefits for being draped down the side of a castle or fort; that way you wouldn't get a look of the "faded" backside. I would love to hear your thoughts on the designs, so please, go ahead and post away. Recently; on May 10th, I opened up a store on Bricklink, so I've got a bunch of these I have been making in shop right now. Am am also holding a sale for 20% off all custom fabric elements at the moment, so now is a good a time as any to grab a couple. ..If you do make an order, please type "Eurobricks Sale" in the comments box while placing an order and I'll give you a bonus 5% off your whole order. (I just bought a bunch o' bricks and stuff, so I need to make a little money back.. ) Thanks! ~Amanda Edited May 27, 2008 by Lamanda2 Quote
Dragonator Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Thanks for the update Lamanda2! These new additions look awesome, I think you could be getting an order from me some time soon. I loved the capes you sent last time, and I have noticed some new ones I am interested in. Will you be making any of the long capes for in Dragon Knight patterns? Those are the main types I'm interested in, and I would love some long ones. I can't wait to see a picture of this new one your working on, it sounds sweet! Just what I need really want. The paudrons are very nice, and I like the flags too, they look good. Looking forward to future updates! PS: By the way, you'll be pleased t know that I've been using one or two of your capes in some scenes of mine, just look in the picture in my signature. Self-promotion ON! Quote
Lamanda2 Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 "Will you be making any of the long capes for in Dragon Knight patterns? Those are the main types I'm interested in, and I would love some long ones." Look out for some Long Dragon Master designs soon. I just printed a new sheet of capes right now (Some more SW Pauldrons (Someone bought all the red & Yellow ones), and some LOTR Capes (The tree kind, forgive me for lack of the true name.)). Will have to do another sheet later and include some Dragon Master capes. Looks like I may have another long day of cape-making on my hands I'm checking out your Brickshelf now; the capes look awesome on your Roleplay characters! Nice use of them. I also looked at your latest MOC, "The Ravine Tavern". Quite a stunning piece of brick work, you packed a fun of detail into the scene, it was a blast looking through those pictures! Thanks for your comments. ~Amanda Quote
Holodoc Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Does your job have anything to do with cloth/painting/fabric? Your work looks very professional! Thank you for yopur special offer at BL! Fabric capes ON! Quote
Lamanda2 Posted May 27, 2008 Author Posted May 27, 2008 "Does your job have anything to do with cloth/painting/fabric? Your work looks very professional!" Heh, unemployed at the moment. However, I do love painting and drawing (Both with pencil and digitally (But I'm not that great at either, compared to many others.), and minifig customization has been a passion for a couple years now. I love designing things, and being able to offer my work to others for use in their creations is just fantastic. It's an awesome honor to see pictures (Like Dragonator posted in his Brickshelf) of these capes used on somebody else's minifigs, and in their MOCs. "Thank you for your special offer at BL!" And thank you for the kind words. Having this extra sale for you guys is great as well, because if I see it's a member from here purchasing, I'm inclined to throw in a bonus cape. ~Amanda Quote
tedbeard Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I placed an order already and also added your store to the Custom elements article on BrickWiki. Quote
Bobskink Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 These look great (and your prices are great to). Quote
Squeaker Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 I bet you could make a killing off of sails (if the cloth you're printing on is big enough, it should be if it's standard.)... Quote
Lamanda2 Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 "I placed an order already and also added your store to the Custom elements article on BrickWiki." Thank you very much! I have your order ready, and will ship it tomorrow. "I bet you could make a killing off of sails (if the cloth you're printing on is big enough, it should be if it's standard.)..." I have thought about sails, but everytime I do I think of how much fabric/ink they would eat up on me.. Perhaps in the future though, one never knows what it shall bring. ..Just listed some new items in shop; A New LOTR Cape design, and my new piece, the cape extension: (More info about this piece on my Bricklink Splash page.) Please let me know your thoughts. PS-- Dragonator, I have not forgotten your Dragon Master requests. Will hopefully get some made up to list soon! ~Amanda Quote
iamded Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 These are truely great works, Amanda! Professional quality, they look awesome, I might just have to place and order, or get dragonator to place an order for me! Those Dwarf capes are very tempting, as are the skellie and troll capes, and those flags... I reckon a long cape with Crownie design would be awesome, and those extensions are awesome. ~Peace Quote
Asuka Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Wow, what a fine and cool work.... I guess my favorite ones´re that cape with the winged helm and the demon and chinese dragon flags.... that LOTR cape with that clever extension looks also very beautiful! Quote
Dragonator Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Those new cape extensions look awesome Lamanda2! I might even be tempted to branch out into some other factions! I think I'm addicted now... Oh, and thanks for listening to the request, I look forward to seeing them! I can already think of some uses for them. Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 These are amazing! Will you ever sell any? Quote
Jipay Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Just read the topic, she said she's selling those on her Bricklink shop. Quote
Lamanda2 Posted May 30, 2008 Author Posted May 30, 2008 Hey all, I spent the day printing, treating, and cutting a heap of new designs. Check out the shop for some all-new flag patterns, and styles (Including a snazzy new LOTR design). I have also done some of the shoulder capes/pauldrons printed with some castle designs. And Dragonator, I think you shall be pleased to find four Dragon Master variations available for the long cape style. Thank you all for the support! ~Amanda Quote
Hewman Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 lamanda2, they are brilliant, I'm in awe! Now I just need to think of an excuse to get some! Quote
Dragonator Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Those new capes are beautiful! The long ones look really nice, I especially like the design with the white background. Do you think you might make some Dragon Masters versions' of the awesome shoulder capes? I know, I'm such a nuisance. If you think you might then I would love to see what they look like, but if not, then I should make an order some time soon. I also love those new-shaped flags, especially the dragon one. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Wow those are cool the orc cape I think maybe if possible should look a bit more ragged because its orcs and they don't really care about their clothes. Your yellow Star Wars shoulder cape looks exactly like mine because I put 1 in my pocket and it got trapped between the seems . I thought I had lost it but a couple of weeks ago I found it and the black was the same but the orange had gone yellow!!! It must have had loads of washes Quote

I usually squeeze in a few of the shoulder capes to a print sheet anyways, as they fill in any un-used gaps, thus wasting less materials. "I also love those new-shaped flags, especially the dragon one." ..Heheh. You and your dragons. "the orc cape I think maybe if possible should look a bit more ragged because its orcs and they don't really care about their clothes." I have thought about this as well. Originally, the Orc design was done as a request in a custom order, and that customer just wanted it in the basic shape. Might have to play around with the idea to see if I can come up with something. "...I thought I had lost it but a couple of weeks ago I found it and the black was the same but the orange had gone yellow!!! It must have had loads of washes" Oh no! Poor little cape! Got 3 new designs up today: -LOTR Flag, Blue/Yellow Decorative -LOTR Flag, Tree -Urak-Hai Flag ~Amanda Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I agree with the more rugged orc cape, however, I figured Amanda had enough to do with designing the new color capes and flags. Also, to me, If I want it truly to be a unique army, then every cape would be different, so I could use the "blade" to customize each one myself. But I agree, with the fighting Orcs do their capes would look much more weathered than other factions! Good point Skipper 24. Quote
Lamanda2 Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Ok Dragonator, I made some shoulder pauldrons in Dragon variations and listed them in my shop. Also have some new flags (Including a tattered Orc flag, no cape, yet), which I should have up in a little bit. ~Amanda Quote

They look awesome! So many choices! I am noticing that some of your capes and flags (namely that classic dragon pattern flag) are disappearing. I presume this is because you are selling them. Will you be listing more? I sure hope so... EDIT: Well, I've put in an order now anyway, I can always make another one when you put new stuff up as shipping doesn't cost that much for flat elements. Thanks for making these, I look forward to my order! Edited June 1, 2008 by dragonator Quote
Lamanda2 Posted June 1, 2008 Author Posted June 1, 2008 Wow, looks like you pretty much cleaned out everything Dragon-style! Thank you very much for the order, I sent you an invoice & I'm just packing everything together now. "I am noticing that some of your capes and flags (namely that classic dragon pattern flag) are disappearing. I presume this is because you are selling them. Will you be listing more? I sure hope so..." Yeah, I don't have all the designs in stock (Especially now ). Might not have them listed for a little while now though, but I'll look around, I might have a couple of them somewhere I can throw in with this order as a bonus. Just to let anyone know, my 20% off sale will be ending when I come online this Monday, so if there is something you like, you might want to grab it now. However, the "Eurobricks Sale" code will always be accepted for 5% off an order. Thanks! ~Amanda Quote
