Maybe just the 56908 in white. I am more curious about the tires, as they look like spikey rally tires instead or normal balloon tires...?

Those tire looks like this.

I've looked closely at the excavator and it looks like there's new rams on the boom.

Whereabouts? The only one I see is the MLA

It's on the dipper stick.

Looks like this:

Since the bucket most likely is linked to the "dipper stick" this piece is added just to simulate a hydraulic movement for the bucket

This fake actuator/pneumatic cylinder is normally used in System sets.

Lego designers keep cutting everything what we love Technic sets for!

No, it looks like a purpose-built part. I can see moulding at the base.

Assuming your right (which i hope u are) then we getting a full functional digging arm - thats equal with 3 independent functions (lower boom, upper arm, bucket) for approx 40 euros. It wasnt done on the larger 8294 so i highly doubt it will be done now :sceptic:

Speaking of tires, from what I hear (I haven't seen the images), the small tractor tires could be absolutely perfect for the Monster Jam trucks. Could they find their way onto them in the end?

I'm not sure about that...

  • Visual appearance vs playability. They might be too rigid for these monster trucks. Previously released pull-acks with balloon tires were very "jumpy" ones because of the tires softness and size (quad just was a perfect thing for ramp jumps and other stunts), so these monster trucks just must so "jumpy" ones, like real ones
  • Financial factor. It the pull-backs had these tires, they will be sold in a minute, while the Wrangler one will remain on the shelf. Whereas it definitely took more effort to be built and is more profitable.

I hardly wait until it appears on shelves...it will be long wait...

Here's my 2 cents on some of the new sets. The pictures have a "confidential-preliminary" stamp on them, so they may not be final.

  • 42117 - Looks like the 42002 B-model with a different colour scheme. I think the landing gear has some gears connecting it to the prop.
  • 42120 - The hovercraft looks interesting, like an orange 42002
  • 42122 - Decent Jeep, like the colour, really hope for suspension and/or 4x4 but don't expect it.
  • 42124 - Independent front suspension, good; light blue and magenta colour scheme, not so good. I wonder if the rear axle will have swing suspension, or a better gear ratio than the rally car

I do like 42120 and 42122 (hope from some suspension, otherwise...). That's what I can tell from prel. pictures.

Do we know if the leaked images are of the final sets, or just prelims? Because if they're prelims, some of the details like colours and tires could change by release time.

Everything in the privately distributed retailer catalogs that TLG sends out around this time of year is preliminary in nature; this is a simple corollary of the timeline that the corporate side is forced to stick to in preparing set design, packaging, and associated branding material for general release and worldwide accommodations. This is especially a concern this year, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a number of changes due to downsizing or pushing back certain kits/lines. It's common to see each kit run through a ton of changes regarding internal design, but only a smattering of those would be reflected in the catalog; each kit within the TECHNIC line is quite complex relative to the average LEGO product, in ways that range from construction to color accents, and thus there is an implicit understanding that certain aspects of each kit will be changed.

At the very least, typically, certain details including decals, stickers, and coloring design/color distribution will shift and be "changing" by time of release, but these are usually more reflective of the rush to get the catalog prepared by early Spring of the previous year (in this case, Spring 2020), and less of a reflection of an incoherent design process.

Frankly, the kits that usually change the most are ones that include licensed content, so I'd be curious to see what happens to 42118 and 42119.

Evidence suggests that 42120 and 42121 are still planned for no earlier than March, and the manner of how retailers are handling them seems to me to suggest that it could be even later. I heard tentatively that either one or both of those (42120 & 42121 are 2 in 1) like the smaller kits, but I don't want to say that with mundane or simple finality.

Would there typically be suspension in a set at $49.99? I'd be curious to see if that ends up panning out.

There have been similar or smaller sized sets with suspension on all wheels: 42037, 42005, 9392, 8048. If the Jeep has suspension that would also partly explain why the Senna has a higher part count for the same price. Unless the money all goes into the Jeep licence, but I think that's unlikely because the Defender had a fair price for being licenced.

42074 had a suspended rear axle as well, with a diff

I wouldnt expect it though, if the jeep is "42093 scale", that means very little room for movement in the axles, of just room between the wheels to begin with, and id expect the part count to mostly go to making it look like a jeep rather then functions.

Id love to be proven wrong though

Rear suspension can be build in like you said in 42074 set and front with short suspension arms like 8262 set?

Using CV joints from 42099 and ball joints you can easily build a proper scale live axle suspension with drive and steering.

If real one has life axle at the front, that would be the best way

AFAIK all Jeeps have solid axles in front and rear

Hm this article said what dealer said to me on Saturday (I went to coffee and one wrangler if I'm not mistaken was on display) that solid axles were replaced by independent suspension and only renegade is equipped with solid axles and rear wheel drive (front drive can be additionally be offered as extra...)... But dealer / salesman will tell you anything...
