Back on topic, it'll be good news if that packaging is only from a closed survey, means it's not a definite final design choice, and something else less 'random' could be on the horizon.

Or... there is another solution.
There are precision balances that can do the work. You just have to get the correct weights on a trustable source and game's done.
This could have been done also with the bags, and indeed has been done, but feeling them was perceived less "odd" than throwing a balance out of your pocket and start weighting all packets.

This is actually genius! :pir-classic:

Do we know for sure it will 3 complete sets? 12 figures in the series makes it work out nicely but they always put a few that are 2nor 4 per box like in past series.

I remember I read it either on stonewars, promobricks or stonewars.

It isn't confirmed that every series will be 12 figs per series though, is it? Just this one.

As for the chances of getting the minifigures you want are higher - this is only true if all figures are of equal desire to everybody. As soon as one figure is more popular and you can tell which figure is which, then the chances of getting that figure drop.

Yes, you're right.

That's a good idea.  If the packaging is paper, I hope it is uniform enough to differentiate subtle changes in weight.  If they use a more 'recycled' look of paper, it can have significant variations in density, and if the precision of the paper cutting or the gluing is not high, it may make differentiating the various characters difficult.  Based on weights on BL, it looks like you'll need a 0.01g precision balance (since the last decimal place is notoriously unreliable), but there's no telling how much the packs will weigh with the figures in them.  If this is the case, I think I might just have to buy a case and weigh each before opening it, then record the weights and report them here...

If I had a business to make money, and I made money, if I had enough to live the rest of my life comfortably, and provide a decent fund to provide my kids the ability to chase their dream job without a lack of money to stop them, then I'd pack it in. I wouldn't feel the need to have more money than I could spend in a lifetime. Short sighted? Yeah you could say. But in the grand scheme of things, I'm just a blip in a timeline of millions of years. As is TLG. The world will continue to revolve.

Your kids' dream job will probably be running your company, so they can give their kids the ability to chase their dream job and so on. That is the thing about family owned businesses, they stay in the family or sell out to investors or die.

There is another solution which is quicker and doesn't involve any specialist equipment. Open the packets in the shop and chuck it back if it is one you don't want. Unfortunately, I think this is the solution that some will adopt. Paper / card will no doubt be easy to tear and peek inside.

I always buy a box so I am happy to try this out with a few minifigures to see if it works.

This balance idea is genius

That won't be new if it does happen. I found my piggy guy from series 12 because someone had torn open the package and put it back on the shelf at Toys R Us. The only piece that was missing was the apple, which I assume fell out somewhere as opposed to whoever tore open the package only wanting the apple.

That'd be the one job I wouldn't support them in having. Do what they want, but work for it. I wouldn't give them *that* much of a free ride!

So over IG there is a rumor going around of a new castle/fantasy theme coming our way next summer

Last time a big theme debuted (Monkey Kid), we got a preview in the CMF series (19)

Could we see something related to that theme in Series 21?

Depends on if they need to use the CMF budget to make new moulds for the theme.
We also got a pirate woman with a new mould for the barracuda bay set.

However there is a lot of salt in the murky moat waters containing the castle theme, to me the rumour seems to come from the new logo on a new Legoland-attraction opening :sceptic:

Don’t forget we got Tournament Knight in Series 20.

I sure hope we will get castle/fantasy theme coming up in summer.

Yes please! I would guess a dwarf.

Isn't there a castle roumor every year?

I hope for a recolour of the viking helmet and the tournament knights sword in the ideas blacksmith.

I'd love everything dwarfen we get :)

The scales idea was the first thing I thought of. People have been doing it for ages with other mystery boxes like Funko mystery minis etc. Hopefully the packaging is consistent enough to make this an effective option. I always get a sealed box or two each season and sell sealed packets to other LEGO fans through FB groups and local LUG. I’m not looking forward to my bag feeling accuracy and practise going down the drain now! I can already picture ripped open boxes in toy stores if this becomes the norm.

Other subtheme that TLG seems to have abandoned in the CMF line is the characters inspired on historical figures

When was the last time we got one? Shakespeare and Lincoln? I dont recall any other after those 2.

Oh you are talking about real historical figures Like Shakespeare and Lincoln. We do have a figure that resembles Julius Caesar in one of CMF series. And we have Hollywood Star taht looks like Marilyn Monroe (not exactly historical but she is part of Hollywood history, anyways).

China New Year sets pics are out and there is a new Ox mask element

I'd like to get it as a Bull Suit Guy in Series 21. It would be a nice cost-saver for the series and a great chance to get it cheaper, like they did with the rat mask mold

Yeah, and Cleopatra. But they never revisited this subtheme after TLM series. Hope to Einstein, da Vinci or Marie Antoinette
