Shtick Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 (edited) Hey, all. I was lucky enough (if you can say that) to get set #419 of 500. I will try to post some detail shots in the next day or two. But in the meantime, I'd be happy to answer any questions about it. And no, it's not for sale. ;-) First off, the box is not sealed. No tape or anything, just two tabs. It can easily be opened without any damage or evidence. Be cautious if you buy one. Inside are two plastic baggies. The first is the Brickmaster Jeep set. The other is a Ziploc storage bag with the copyright info sticker on the front. Again, this bag is not sealed. You cannot tell if it has been opened. The instructions for the temple set (which has no listed name on any of the packaging) are on a large sheet folded over. The set's construction is pretty basic. Most of the pieces are reused from other Indy sets. The only ones new to Indy (as far as I can tell) are the Technic-looking arcs behind the skull. The sticker sheets are from the Idol Temple. I'm glad I got the set, but it is not worth $50. $30 would have been more reasonable. Edited July 28, 2008 by Shtick Quote
Canticleer blues Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Wow, not much of an 'official' set, is it? No serial number, no box seals, no formal instructions, the jungle pit pieces come in a Ziploc bag! Ah well. The other Indy sets are more then good enough for me. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 That cost you $50? I have to say for the quality you've described that's far to high. So 275 becomes totally insane. Quote
Big Pete Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 $50 doesn't seem that bad considering the cheapest I've seen the Brickmaster jeep on Bricklink is $30!! Quote
Derek Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 That was $50!? It barely seems like it would be worth $10, $20 at the very most. I hope they told the people how much it cost before they entered the raffle! The exclusivitivity (if thats a word! ) really jacks up the price. And to think the packaging was crappy too... There are some real scheisters out there... darthperson Quote
tin7_creations Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 It's $50? It's probably gonna be jacked up to double the price by the time it appears on Bricklink. The term "exclusive" really does jack up the price. Quote
Shtick Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Ok, I've taken a few photos. Mods, forgive me if I post too many. I didn't see a limit in the rules. Basically, the set looks to be Indy going after a diamond above the skull, and falling through the leaves into a spike pit below. The only part that makes this a Crystal Skull set is the warriors. Otherwise, it's not specific to any movie. I have not yet put the decals on the ramps, but they are the same as the entrance to the Idol Temple. The Box - Top & Bottom The Bags The Instructions for the Temple - Front & Back The Set Close-up of the Spike Pit Before driving into the Trap After... The Extra Pieces Quote
Transmetro Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 ^ Is $50 what Brickmaster was charging at SDCC, or did you buy it from a friend/dealer/secondary market? Quote
Shtick Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 $50 was the SDCC price. They were handing out raffle tickets each morning (and they went fast). If your ticket was marked, you had the opportunity to buy the set. Only 100 were sold each day. Any set not claimed by 5pm was sold to a line of people waiting for them. That's how I got mine. Quote
mandalore Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 this looks pretty cool it would`ve been nice to get but i guess i wont be getting 1 seeing as i`m not planning on going to san diego o well congratz to anyone who could actually get their hands on this(only like 500 right) Quote
Dadster Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Hmmm - I guess its a neat enough set IMO, but def not for $50. They (Lego) gotta make $ at these Cons or they can't justify the funds in going in the first place. Plus, for folks who don't know/ care about the BM deal, its a perfect way to get the Indy Jeep. Thanks for the heads-up and write-up!! Quote
Shtick Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 They were handing out free Joker and Batman minfigs as well. If you went to the DC, Lego, and Warner Brothers booths and played the demo Lego Batman video game, you got a portion of the Joker minifig. If you took the completed Joker to the WB redemtion desk, they gave you a Batman minifig and small display box. Cool thing was, we were able to take the same Joker minifig back the next day and score two more Batmen (which I gave to my cousins). A few years back, Lego gave out the TIE Fighter microscale set at their booth. I managed to score two of them that year. Sadly, most exhibitors are cutting back on the free swag they hand out, and Lego is included in that. Quote
Derek Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Wow! If that was say at LEAST $30 cheaper, that would have been a nice set. However, it looks as though if someone has those pieces, they could build that with their own parts... Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks Shtick for the pictures. I am glad to see such clearer pictures and its build. I should be getting it somehow. Quote
