Despite the losses, the OL landing forces in King's Port managed to get their way across the beach and progressing in direction of the city.

On a bridge conducting to the downtown, the bluecoats were blocked by a barrage of musket shots from the other bank of the dried river. The Foreign Legionnaires, known for their abnegation and bravery, received the order to take the bridge in a swift assault.

Alas, under a storm of plumb, the officer leading the charge was killed before he could cross the bridge, and the Legionnaires were forced to take cover.

The situation became really desperate for these men on the bridge, when they saw the looming silhouette of a field gun pushed by a bunch of artillerymen.

With a thundering sound, a strong recoil, and a violent explosion, the way is clear.

I like this one turned out. The troops are posed quite well, and the bridge came together decently as well. My one suggestion would have been to put a line of masonry bricks on the underside of the Brick, to make it look thicker. It doesn't distract from the build, though, and I love how it came together!

Wow, nice arched bridge design! I am guessing that the arch is made of wrought iron given the black color and I find it a fantastic piece usage. If I had to improve something, it would be the spots that connect the two dbg plates with the vertical lbg sides of the bridge so as to hide these gaps under those plates (maybe a single 1x2 plate on each side would do the trick?). Nevertheless I find this a really unique and successful design. Also since I find that cannon really well built, we could use a close up for ahem, "reference reasons (tm)" :pir-grin:

And of course,

"To glory sons of Oleon! Eternity awaits you!" Hugo D' Offren was heard saying as he was writing a letter to the Foreign Legionnaires commander from the safety of his home office all while his toddlers were making a mess of all the surrounding house tearing curtains and stuff :pir-sad2:

Really nice depicition of a field battle event. Really nice.

Awesome build, love the posing!

Very nice battle scene! As usual, a cannon is a very very argument to carry in a discussion... in any kind of discussion!

I like your bridge design, it reminds me of this one. I'm not so sure about the connection between the arch and the road above (maybe having it a brick thick, instead of a plate only would be enough)... very original design anyways! The accompanying text is rather epic too.

But enough talking for now... now let's teach those scoundrels how the soldiers of Oleon fight!

"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English Oleander dead! [...] Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit To his full height. On, on, you noblest English Oleanders. Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!"

William Shakespeare Guillaume Secouerlance, notorious Oleander poet

Good depiction of the battle. I like the cannon and the way the guys are posed.

And you are right, some bricks would make the bridge look better.

Ouch, these gaps, they are quite obvious, how I haven't thought a way to remedy it.

Agreed. In fact I'd prefer to send a tank, but you know, we've to stay historically accurate.:pir_laugh2:

Thank you, glad you like it. Pardon my ignorance of English language, but I don't see any dog there, are you referring to the minifigs?:pir-grin:

Sorry! It’s the first iron bridge (therefore simply called Iron Bridge), built in 1781

Everything is out of reach for the time being, even for me :pir-hmpf_bad:. At least with their Duplo, they are exercising the noble sport of building skyscrapers, then deconstructing them, then fighting over their pieces. Happy times! :pir_tong2:

That's a very nice bridge, Bodi. The use of the rigging works really well for an iron bridge, and is a very clever use of the part. I think some additional beams connecting the arch and the road surface would help make the bridge look sturdier.
