Or that they're doing space as the 90th anniversary set, or it's space next year, or that they consider the City stuff to be space? Quote

jonwil Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 Picked up the 3-in-1 Space Shuttle today, its a fun build and bigger than I expected (the shuttle that is, haven't built the other 2 yet) Quote

So far one of my favorite 2021 sets next to the Castle and Blacksmith. Edited October 4, 2021 by TeriXeri Quote
TeriXeri Posted October 4, 2021 Posted October 4, 2021 (edited) For 2022 I really wonder what style the Submarine will have, since it's not the smallest set, I hope it's somewhat more sci-fi . I don't expect military style submarines from LEGO, but a sub with a conning tower like this would already be something that hasn't been made in a while, and the shaping could be a lot better compared to this 2005 version. Even if it ends up being yellow, it's still not an issue, as it could be combined with the 2015/2020 City parts, if it's not yellow, I hope for more darker colors with transparent accents, something like this , I always thought this looked a bit shark like, a basking/whale shark with open mouth, at least on this picture angle. TeriXeri Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) I'd assume first set to be revealed would be the Tiger, the only set that's a January release, and also the largest of 1HY2022. 755 pieces for €50 sounds like a good deal, and would also be the largest brick-built animal set in a long time, but I assume lots of small parts. Also description says it has a waterfall/branch sidebuild, with Koi / Red Panda alternates, sounds a very Asian set timed for Chinese New Year , and 2022 is Year of the Tiger. Lacdaran Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Presuming the rumored Viking ship is a 3-in-1 what would people like to see as alternate builds? With the rumor that the ship includes a brick built sail (white pieces) and sea serpent (green pieces), I would like to see those turned into some terrain around a viking longhouse and a viking village harbor alt builds personally. TeriXeri Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 (edited) If they keep it Viking themed, maybe one set will have a smaller boat + dockside build, and the other build perhaps a fort wall or catapult type play build with some monster like Fenrir ? LEGO has done a Fenris Wolf twice in LEGO , back in 2005 Vikings and 2017 Thor, and I doubt they'll do a nithogg/dragon when there's a dragon/wyvern creature in the 3-in-1 Castle. I don’t like that brick-built Fenrir. It looked…little blocky and weird. I think body mold may be expensive to be made for this wolf. I will like to add something - there is World Serpent in 2005 as well. It would be cool to see it come back. I think it would be cool to include Jotunn (giant) as a bigfig. EDiT: Neve remind, I didn’t realize VikShip is 3-in-1 set that may include sea serpent. Edited November 28, 2021 by DBlegonerd7 Quote

I can still see something like a creature opponent made from small ball joints, assuming the serpent uses those. Probably would use plates and slopes from the boat for the most part, and if the serpent is green, maybe it would use the green parts for terrain or a tree, if sails are white it could be snowy ground. Creator 3-in-1 uses a lot of basic pieces, so I don't expect a non-blocky build, but LEGO still did a good job for things like the horse from the Pirate Ship alternate build. For a brick built wolf monster I'd think of something like this type of creator style at a different scale/proportions : 30578: German Shepherd 31098: Outback Cabin had a brick built wolf closer to minifig dog/wolf scale, which would be too small as a fenrir but still shows it can have 4 legs, moving head/tail at a very small scale. Transparency for Effect Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Not sure if this even goes here, not sure if this was already known or useless, groundless info, but apparently someone at the LEGOLand Discover Centre in Birmingham told me they were coming out with a new LEGO Store set in Jan 2022 or something when I asked if they had any of the 40305 set in stock (they had only a display of the set). Maybe he just meant the The City of Lanterns set with the LEGO store component in January, but is that a bit of a reach? Quote

TeriXeri Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 31129 Tiger looks impressive, lots of detail and moving parts , and the red panda alternate looks cute. Quote
RichardGoring Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 The pictures make it look like the face is very flat. Too much so? The rest of it looks great, but I'd like to see more photos of the head from different angles. Quote
danth Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 Trying to understand the tiger stripes...just prints, or weird combos of curve slopes/anti-curve slopes? Quote
penguinz Posted December 2, 2021 Posted December 2, 2021 It looks like a combination of a printed orange 1x2 cheese slope (85984) and an orange concave 1x3 bow (70681) paired with a black inverted 1×2 bow (24201). It's really quite a clever solution! Quote
TeriXeri Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 No doubt I can imagine the Tiger set becoming popular on places like Rebrickable, and inevitable Dinosaurs and other creatures will show up, it's just an amazing set for that. Quote
TeriXeri Posted December 11, 2021 Posted December 11, 2021 (edited) Still no sign of the other 3-in-1 sets, but since they are March releases, it kind of makes sense as sets like the ninjago or 2 of the City Space march sets aren't revealed either. The only new thing I noticed is a rumoured price for the 31131 Noodle Shop at €44,99, release date isn't in March for this set however (Probably june) With only 1 known set being the Tiger, so far I don't think a 2022 thread is needed until the march sets have pictures.
