brick-builds Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Hello everywere, here is my new moc for a steam-train drive. Have much fun!! Quote
JintaiZ Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 I like the concept, but it will be great to see how it works in a proper train. Quote
SteamSewnEmpire Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Looks mechanically okay to me. The only issue I foresee is that by placing the motor so close to the wheels, it now basically supplants any detailing you might have there (or necessary space between the frame and the boiler). This low center of gravity will probably make any engine more stable, but it might not look as good overall. Quote

Thanks I haven´t yet decided to build a complete train but when a lot of people ask me to built one, I´m going to built one. 3 hours ago, SteamSewnEmpire said: Looks mechanically okay to me. I put the motor as close as possible to the wheels, because you can now put more details on top. The details on the bottom are mostly on the sides of the wheels. But you can raise the motor up if you want. Quote
rday1982 Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Those wheels are awfully close together, and I'm not certain that you can build around the motor easily. I think you may be sacrificing the ability to produce a nice model in exchange for being able to produce a functional model in order to make it small. Which makes me wonder what the point of building an extremely compact steam locomotive is if you can't make it look good. Of course, you might be about to prove me wrong by posting a video of a finished locomotive that looks amazing. In which case, I'll gladly eat my words. But I'm skeptical that overall this facilitates anything truly desirable. As much as it's a nice piece of engineering. Quote
