First, I began by defining the area that I wanted to represent. And what size I wanted to give my MOC, using a scale convenient. I have chosen to represent an area of 20 km by 16 km and a moc : 160 studs by 128 studs. A baseplate 32x32 A plate 1x1 The whole MOC is made with baseplates. I edited a map for each baseplate. The grid represents a plate 1x1. Then, deciphering contour lines. I assigned a texture by grid : _ Urban : Tan, Dark Tan, Light Gray, Dark Gray _ Meadow in valley : Green _ Forest : Dark Green, Sand Green _ Altitude vegetation : Lime _ Rock : Light Gray, Dark Gray _ Glacier : White An exemple of assembly with « Chamonix » baseplate. Floor 0 : altitude 1000 m Floor 0, 1 and 2 : Altitude 1000 to 1100 m. A part of the city of Chamonix We get up. The relief of a valley appears. 20 baseplates to assemble… several months pass. October 21, 20204 yr Magnifique! Absolutely beautiful is your model of Mont Blanc! I used to live in the Jura Mountains west of Geneve and on a clear day that was the skyline view from my studio. How did you achieve the map pixel matching? Did you use a special software? How did you match the map colors to the actual Lego colors?

October 22, 20204 yr The Mont Blanc massive looks impressive in LEGO form. I like how in some areas, the transition from high to low areas is very smooth, and I can easily imagine the snow slowly making its way further down to the valleys. What's even more impressive, is the amount of work and planning behind the scenes. Comparison of real mountain peaks to brick-built peaks is awesome. For those, who haven't been close to French Alps, a comparison really helps in seeing how accurately you managed to catch the shape of the mountains. Well done.
October 23, 20204 yr You've put an incredible amount of effort into this and it's come out wonderfully. Got some nifty SNOT techniques in there to spice it up a little. Lovely reminder of the one time I briefly visited Chamonix. Thanks for sharing!

October 25, 20204 yr I love LEGO and I love mountains, but a combination of the two is very rare. That makes your creation all the more impressive, amazing work! It's massive, it's beautiful, and the inclusion of the French-Italian border is a nice touch! Is this going to be on display in the Mt Blanc area somewhere? October 25, 20204 yr Absolutely astonishing. The contouring is so good. I have often thought of doing a lego relief map of the English Lakes, where I live, but the scale of the project has always put me off. You got it with both hands. Well done.
