Hi,

i'm new to all this.

I'm an mechanical engineer working with CAD-software. so i wanted to try to design something with LEGO.

what i did:

- installed LEGO Digital Designer 4.3.11 | Brick Version 777 (with every start i got "Internet access failed" / i think that is not so important)

- downloaded the Version 20201017 from the LDD New Parts Post and installed it

- downloaded some LDD-Models from the "official LEGO sets..." post.

everytime i try to open (or import) a downloaded model i got "Bricks could not be loaded" / "not placed correctly" and there is only half of the model shown. do i have to get the newer bricks somewhere else than in the LDD new parts post?

i also tried the developer mode. the "toggle physics test" does not work...

thanks for your help

On the contrary, it’s very important: that means you downloaded the dreadful 4.3.12 from LEGO.  It’s broken.  The correct Brick Version should be 2670.  777 is missing an awful lot of official bricks.

See this thread, there’s a link to a correct copy of 4.3.11 installer and several explanations on how to install it on Windows 10 if you have troubles.

Mate just use Stud.io. It is very flexible and if you do not want to lose your LDD models Stud.io can easily load them.

Stud.io will load most of the models, but flex parts will be dropped according to my experience (i do understand that keep flex parts is challanging however).

Shameless plug: lxf2ldr converts them to LSynth primitives.  So: lxf2ldr, then lsynth, then import in Studio or open in any LDraw editor.
