Hi All,

title is already self explanatory.

I know that it is possible to connect powered up motors to a buwizz using dedicated adapters.

What about controlling a powered up servo with buwizz? Is that possible?

I did I quick search but did not find anything so specific.

Thanks.

You can control PU motors as simple motors. But to control them as servos you need to get position feedback from them which neither the converter cable or BuWizz 1.0 or 2.0 support.

Great Explanation!

What are they?

I believe that he is talking about the third-party adapters that have been recently released. You can check out this video for details. (Summary: PU extension wires, PF to PU adapters, and PU to PF adapters. They work about as you would expect, but are fairly expensive)

correct, that's the cable.

They're expensive and do not work for servo :imperialguard_commander1:

As I'm just looking for providing more juice to the motors (11-12V) a different approach could be to use an external battery and bypass the hub voltage limiter (if any).

Was that already attempted by someone?

thanks kbalage, seems my best option is:

  • keep the PU motors
  • replace the PU servo with a PF servo
  • buy a pair of adapters

feed everything with a buwizz.

Thank you very much! In that case I'll try to avoid mixing PU and PF in one connection.

Is there really that much advantage in PU motors over PF ones? It seems like an awful lot of trouble to use the new motors, rather than a classic Buwizz+ PF approach.

For simple dumb motor control, you can wire the PF C1 & C2 to pins 1 & 2 on the PU connector.  We'll have to start using PU motors for replacement of burned out PF motors in GBC modules at some point.

I believe embedded servo mode is the main reason.

As a bonus, PU XL's are pure joy to mount, compared to cylinder-like PF 's.

And you can use motors as position sensors too.
