commanderbly42 Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 OK, here are two models that I've made from the box inspiration for the sets 7250 Clone Scout Walker and 7258 Wookiee Attack. I hope you enjoy! 7250 - Self Propelled Light Armoured Turbolaser (SPLA-T) Scorpion Turbolaser: Some background on the SPLA-T: The SPLA-T is a small but powerful turbolaser artillery unit. It is entirely capable of taking on smaller ground targets as well as some of the smaller starships. Due to the vulnerability of the driver, small remote-controlled shield generators (the little thing on the turbolaser's right) were also produced to go along with the artillery units. After awhile, the SPLA-Ts became obsolete compared to the larger SPHA series but still found use among pirates and smugglers. 7258 - Heavy Assault Droid Tank (HADT) and two Wookiee Anti-Infantry Speeders: OK, the inspiration for this model: And the model itself: And a better picture of the droid tank: Some background on the HADT: The HADT is a heavy droid tank, produced in small numbers. Although armed with a powerful cannon, it was vulnerable due to the angles of its weapons. The two small cannons were used for short-range anti-infantry combat while the large cannon was capable of firing heavy plasma-based projectiles and was capable of destroying vehicles up to SPHA-T size. Used to some effect during the Battle of Kashyyyk, the HADTs use in the CIS army was stopped at the end of the war. The few produced fell into the hands of pirates and were a fairly common sight during raids. I hope that you enjoy them and I'm sorry for the lack of images - I don't yet have a digital camera. Quote
MacK Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Nice to see someone made the inspirational models , the SPLA-T was my favorite of the bunch but the other models were good as well. Your backstories are also really well done , do you plan on making more inspirational models sometime soon? Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Those are some cool alternative models you made there, bly. Good Job I like them all, although the Wookie speeders look really fragile to me - but hey, the Ewoks could destroy the Empire Quote

Unfortunately, because of my Dark Age, I don't have a good number of models with inspirational models but I will try the ones that I do have. Quote
commandosevy Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Ilike your ideas and the SPLAT is my fav out of them all. Quote
JimBee Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 very good! i never attempted to make these models on the box because i thought they were stupid, and took away from the whole idea of using your imagination for building LEGO. But these are excellent! i dont think they make boxes with the inspirational models anymore, or at least not in SW... Quote
Asuka Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 A very original work, these Wookiee speeders look cool, that scorpion tailed turbolaser´s pretty neat and I especially like that nice HADT. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Very nice, I wondered if anyone actually made those models. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Very nice, nothing says Hard Core off road action like droids on tractor treads Very cool Wookie speeders too! Quote
Tarfful Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 (edited) Nice box art models, I especially like the Scorpion Turbolaser. Also, good work on the backstorys, they were very well done. On another slightly different note, are planning on doing the other inspirational model from the back of the box of the 7250? If you are I can't wait. -Tarfful, who was waiting a long time for someone to make the inspirational models from 7250 and 7258, (especially 7250) and was not disappointed. KimT Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Nicely done. I've never tried to do any box inspiration build - but now I'd consider it. Where did I put my boxes? oh I didn't....next set then KimT Quote
