Posted November 9, 20204 yr This is my entry for OcTRAINber 2020: Dioramas, Dioramas Everywhere. It fits in the “Huge” category (6+ 32x32 baseplates) - it's 45 32x32 baseplates! OcTRAINber 2020: The 17th Hole by Mike Pianta, on Flickr OcTRAINber 2020: The 17th Hole by Mike Pianta, on Flickr It represents part of a golf course, highlighting the 17th Hole, a short Par 3. At the scale I build (1:45), the hole plays just 118 yards (108 m), but bunkers and rough surround the small green, leaving little room for players to miss safely. There is also a green for the Par 5 16th Hole and a track leading to the tee for the Par 4 18th Hole. It's based on an idea from Jim Spavin's book "Modular Railroading Handbook - Second Edition". November 9, 20204 yr Wow, that's impressive. Love the scenery and especially the bridges, both for the golf course as well as the tracks. And very nice how it is all smoothly curved and not in a straight line.
November 9, 20204 yr Excellent work! There's so much detail in this massive scene that it's difficult to appreciate in the overall shots. Plenty of irregular shapes and little cameos to draw the eye in, well done.
November 9, 20204 yr Very impressive, would love to see more details on the train. One has to go thru your Flickr album to truly see and appreciate the detail you incorporated.
November 9, 20204 yr A true masterpiece. I especially like the golf cart stuck on the track with the train (great train!)approaching - very dramatic!
November 10, 20204 yr That is an amazing diorama and the train too (that poor golfer ripping his own arm off...) while I did not see anything I trust there's a caddy shack and perhaps a happy gilmore somewhere on the layout
November 11, 20204 yr Author Thanks all. I didn’t have enough time to take heaps of photos. Will try to get some more (including the train) over the next few days.
