Posted May 31, 200816 yr While i was surfing the internet i came across a super star destroyer made out of everyones favorite building blocks, Mega Bloks http://www.miketaylor.org.uk/lego/ssd/ It looks quite good and accurate considering what its made of, and i've always been interested to see star wars megabloks EDIT: pics if you cant be bothered to click link Edited May 31, 200816 yr by simonjedi
May 31, 200816 yr I don't like the kind of brick it is made out of.....but it's good....pretty good. my fav building bricks are lego nto megyblocks
June 1, 200816 yr Wow...it looks like an old LEGO Star Wars MOC before the actual license provided us with all those specialized bricks. Love it
June 1, 200816 yr That's really good! A lot of detail and a nice basic shape = great MOC. See, just because they're clone bricks doesn't mean you can't build cool stuff out of them.
June 1, 200816 yr 9/10 for the build, but -256 for clone bricks.-248/10. Totally agree with you here.
June 1, 200816 yr ... Guy's, I know we are getting a little bored here... But this tantamount to calling Nazi's and Commie's cool... Indy wise that is... And meaning it! We darksiders often get a pass because heck, nobody can beat the original "man in black"... Megablocks plastic should be recycled into diapers... It's about all it may be good for, though, on second thought, the idea of their product being that close to any child's rear end is repulsive! As to this model... While the over all shape is adequate, it really leaves something to be desired. I found it neither stunning nor detailed, and to be quite honestly, it looks like any other shoddy designed product Mega barf has ever been able to ralph out... That is why Lego, which is considerably more expensive, still dominates a market driven by parents often forced to be tight already with their hard earned funds... Not to say that Lego itself has been reduced to Mega-blounderish tactics like stickers in recent years, and cost cutting plastic choices in order to cut those said costs at times. I will not even score this set, as numbers can only get so low... But I wish it to be known that I am not dissing the author/originator of this thread... a find, no doubt... So I don't want you to feel I am picking on you... In fact, until today, I would have loved anything if all it had was a stamp of Star Wars on it... But megablocks are like kryptonic cancer... And leaves an awful after taste in a mouth. Edited June 1, 200816 yr by Palin Jax
June 1, 200816 yr I don't get why you all seem to like the model (with the exception of one or two)... it is really rather ugly indeed. TK
June 1, 200816 yr Totally agree with you here. Ditto. I'm no big fan of mega blocks. The bricks are either so god [i.w.d.] flimsy, or they're so god [i.w.d.], hmmm, whats a good word here, well, anyways, they won't even come together and stick or anything. Megablacks are like gay people. I'm Okay with them as long as they don't touch me.
June 1, 200816 yr You scared the living crap out of me with that title. I thought you meant MB had the Star Wras liscense. But that moc is pretty cool, a little blocky, but fine. Darthperson8
June 1, 200816 yr And why does this guy call LEGO pirate lego? If anything, it's megablocks that stole TLC's idea. Anyhow, the model looks awful. It's way too jagged, it looks more like you could cut meat with it providing you don't plan on eating it.
June 1, 200816 yr Anyhow, the model looks awful. It's way too jagged, it looks more like you could cut meat with it providing you don't plan on eating it. My thoughts exactly. At the first glance it didn't even look like something from SW. It's so blocky and ugly that it looks like a bad SW edition of Space Invaders. You know how "bad words" get replaced by the word "megablocks" on this great website after posting? Considering that this might have happened when the title "Star Wars Megablocks" of this topic was posted, it's a very appropriate title! 1 out of 5 for the effort, the courage to use megablocks, and for the fact that the MOC looks at least somewhat like a super star destroyer. Dishonoring the good name of SW lego by the use of clone brands OFF! PS: Thanks for sharing though, simonjedi, it's good to know that there is someone actually brave enough to attempt a Star Wars MOC with with such an undesirable medium. Don't be offended by any outraged comments; it's not like you made these. Edited June 1, 200816 yr by Oky Wan Kenobi
June 2, 200816 yr Hi! Those aren't megablocks. Those are regular bricks. It is as megablok as can be:

Actually, while that may have been true 10 years ago, Megablok's quality has been improving. I would know, because I've owned megabloks both from the 90's and from the 21 century, and there's been improvement between those time periods.

June 3, 200816 yr shame on you for purchaseing megablocks Hey, if you don't like them, fine, but it's a free country. Besides, Megabloks has a right to exist. Read up - you'll see that TLC could have easily renewed their patenent on the classic brick design, but they chose not to, for some odd reason. Thus, it ain't Megabloks's fault.
June 5, 200816 yr To be honest considering the far more limited range of bricks available in MegaBlocks it seem a pretty good effort to me and rather like some of the old-school pre-licence MOCs
June 8, 200816 yr 9/10 for the build, but -256 for clone bricks.-248/10. i believe its -247/10, just saying. good moc for parts (and those parts quality) EDIT: i looked again, and it looks part lego part MB! poor legos. jifel Edited June 8, 200816 yr by jifel

Wasted bandwidth in here defending Megabloks. The level of LEGO brand-loyalty is astounding. So much so that, for some members, it has morphed into irredeemable brand-snobbery. Even mentioning Megabloks as something other then Bricks from Hell will get you marginalized as some sort of perverted kook around these parts. Which, in the long run, is a positive for Megabok enjoyers. That just makes it easier to find good stuff on the shelves, like the forthcoming Probuilder Leopard II tank I won't even try to defend the "Megafigs" though. They actually are garbage
