Lord Of Pies Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 To many annoying BURPS clogging up my lego boxes. Quote
Zarkan Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Well, honestly, there isn't really any piece I can think of. TLC uses such a wide variety of pieces in their sets, and even commonly used molds are not tiring, as they are made in a ton of colors. Please, TLC, just use them when it´s absolutely necessary, and not only for some boldly cost cutting measures For some reason, I really can't see whats so appealing about stud technic beams. Honestly, I think using them makes technic kits far more blocky and ugly looking than the newer kits. I perfectly understand using them and studless technic beams together, like in the recent bulldozer, but not using them and them only. Quote
Shoc Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Another is 1x2 bricks of any colour with technic holes in them, I know they are useful but I have more of those than I do regular bricks and it annoys me. That annoys me too that I have more of them than holeless ones. A lot of the pieces in Exo-Force sets have unnecissary holes and it is really irritating, I don't like my building to have loads of holes in. Oeh, but I love chrome.I have to much Harry Potter figures. To much Harry faces. Harry's everywhere. Ah, the same. It is very hard to use his face for anyone other than Harry... Grr. :skull: Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I think I haven't got one single piece too many, but I have got one minifig more than I want. If you go here, it's the minifig on the very left. It's the engine driver you can find in cargo train 4512, engine shed 10027, BNSF 10133 and Holiday Train 10173. At least it came with bley hands in 10133 and 10173. I don't like bley much but with this minifig it's at least a bit of a change. Quote
captaintau Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 With the Batman sets, all the Bat gear: the Batcuffs, Batarangs etc. They're great to have but on a couple of sets there's no place to store them so they just get lost. Quote
Asuka Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 For some reason, I really can't see whats so appealing about stud technic beams. Honestly, I think using them makes technic kits far more blocky and ugly looking than the newer kits. I perfectly understand using them and studless technic beams together, like in the recent bulldozer, but not using them and them only. I´m referring to the use of them in System sets, for the inner frame of vehicles like these ExoForce tanks or that MarsMission Armoured Drilling Unit, because it makes MODing them pretty frustrating, especially for kids I guess. (Yeah, and for me too.... ) Quote
CP5670 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 For some reason, I really can't see whats so appealing about stud technic beams. Honestly, I think using them makes technic kits far more blocky and ugly looking than the newer kits. I perfectly understand using them and studless technic beams together, like in the recent bulldozer, but not using them and them only. There are advantages to both of them. Using only studded beams and stud connections can make models heavy and flimsy. On the other hand, using the studless ones exclusively also weakens models and makes them prone to slight flexing (and IMO makes the model less fun to build as well, as it doesn't really feel like Lego anymore). The bulldozer is something of an exception among recent Technic sets though. Most sets from the last few years have been almost completely studless. I think TLG had an optimal mix of both types of beams in the late 90s (the 8446 crane truck is a good example), but they started using the studless ones too much after that, especially within the interiors of models. SuvieD Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 1x2 black modified plate with handle, you know the one, it is used to connect ladders 2x2 flags and many other pieces. I have a gallon bag full of them, something in the thousands of them. In fact I have som many piece right now that I doubt I could use each of them in a moc in my life time. Unless of course I moved back in with my parents and devoted my life to building mocs while living off of someone elses money. Quote
Svelte Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I agree with Batbrick's original post - the 1x2 roof end slopes in pearl gold. They were a novelty at first in the Knights Kingdom sets but now they're everywhere. The 1x2 pearl gold tile with grille is also ubiquitous but it's a bit more useful. I also think some of the generic City minifig torsos are also getting a bit repetitive. Too many Indy minifigs as well! Seriously, I have more chance of forming a Clone Army out of Indiana Jones figs than I do out of SW troopers . At least Johnny Thunder changed his clothes once in a while. Quote
Nikola Bathory Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Cannon from the Pirate and Western sets. :( those cannons are so great! Well, you can sell yours if you want to get rid of them... Quote
Shoc Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I remember another brick I have too much of! I have loads of that, about 20, it's really cool that you can fit minifig arms in it, but I don't often have a use for it! :skull: Quote
VBBN Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Blunt missle shooters.(with the eye shooting warning) Quote
Norro Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I'll be predictable... bley... There are a few pieces that are about as close to useless as Lego gets, the giant mutant dinos spring to mind. But in the spirit of the thread, bley is what I think lego makes proportionately too much of... God Bless, Nathan Quote
xenologer Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 This Piece I have far far too many of them. Tiny Turbos make awesome parts packs usually, but lately TLC has a habit of giving them all these uselessly ugly wheels. They look terrible in Space, and pretty bad in Town MOCs too. Seriously, I miss these Quote
Anubis Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Spears and shooty-thingies! I have so many spears I can't even count them! And TOO many Shooty-Thingies! And Then I lose the shot to the shooter! finally, I end up with too many useless shooty-thingies. Quote
Athos Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 All the technic parts. They are being used way too much as short-cuts to actual brick building. Spears too. I wish they'd dump the extra spears included in every castle set and give us a shield or two. Curved slopes. I've never liked these. They just don't seem like Lego to me and I find them hard to build with. Steve Quote
Darth_Legois Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Luke Skywalker minifigures and chrome lightsabre hilts. You can NEVER have to many Luke Skywalker mini-figs lol i only have 2 but i think 1 is lost and the CHROME lightsabre hilts are AWESOME compared to the new crappy gray [or grey] ones i the gray ones are the ones i have to many of but thats my opinion anyway staying "On Topic" i probable have to many "Special" pieces and not enough "Normal" pieces [Also yesterday i saw the new brick/door/window sets i was very tempted especialy since i need more "normal" pieces ] Quote
iamded Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Hmm... let's see... Knight's Kingdom knights and those 5 or so heads TLC's decided to use in all the new sets. Seriously, can't we have more diversity? ~Peace Quote
