I think this thing is great. Obviously sacrifices have to be made due to the scale. I buy these things for my 3yr old son to play with since I don't let him play with my 1:8 super cars for obvious reasons.

Can someone guess how the new 2x3 panel at the back of the roof air intake is connected? Here we see a black axle inserted into the center:

But here there is no pin in the center:

 

That would rule out this part:

But a black 2L axle also wouldn't work, if the part at the center of the air intake is a T-shaped liftarm.

It seems unlikely that TLG brings back the black 2L axle-pin. What do you think?

I guess the new 2x3 panel has a single pin in the middle and connects to the middle T-Liftarm. The other black pins are standard 2L.

But the point is that the new 2x3 panel has an axle hole, not a pin hole.

No way. There are blue axle pins visible in other pictures, so why include two colours? It's probably blue and there is just a lot of shadow in the spot where it appears black.

Concerning the differential after all we have seen I guess now it's unlikely there will be one. I did not expect much function wise from this set, and still they manage to go below that ?

Anyway I still like the set and will definitely get it.

And about the compatibility to the car transporter: ground clearance is way too low. You won't be able to drive this onto the ramp ?

I can't believe it either, but it seems to be true. So this set comes with at least two pins in unusual colours. Is Lego softening on the matter of pin colours?

Look at the right rear wheel. It is connected with brown axle. All brown axles are with stop. In the model stop end is inside, and you can't insert such axle in differential. So....model is driven only rear left wheel. It is 4x1 ultimate track car without differential.

Either that, or in a similarly stupid move, Lego is now making regular axles in brown... Maybe the 5.5L axle could be brown now? Other axles with stops are.

You are likely right. A close inspection of that picture does reveal a very slight blue tinge on that pin (to me, at least)

Well, it has 2 colours of 2L axle so who knows (door mounting connectors/new panel at the rear).

I don’t know if anyone else pointed it out, but it also has the new 2x3 panel in blue just behind the doors.

I dont care about this car, but I am very hyped about the new 2x3 panel. I will pick up a bunch of them as soon as they are available on Bricks&Pieces, I can already think of too many uses for these

so another technic car and we still can’t see the technic bits of it.

Obviously the masses love this and that’s why LEGO do it but Personally I look forward to when this over paneling fad And supercar fad is over in technic.

it makes for a real ugly toy IMO

My bad. Thought there was a blue 2L pin and 1L axle thingy in the front mudguard. Just looked on my Corvette and I realise that you can't see the pin there.

The Lego UK shop says its coming on the 26th December 2020 (Boxing Day). Depending on lockdown I hope to get my hands on one over the christmas holidays.

Looks like rear structure is little angled down. Maybe model has independent suspension? This will explain why don't have differential.

Weirdly, there's also what appears to be LBG 2L pins on the front steering assembly. Non-friction pins possibly (but why??). Also some tan looking ones (frictionless 2L pin with axle - why?) on the black 2x4 L-shaped lift-arms behind it and some other LBG ones.
