LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Here in the U.S. the "year of space" appears to already be over.  The local Target store has dismantled the end-cap space display, and I noticed a week or so ago they are putting several of the City Space sets on clearance (50% 0ff).

There is one

The flagship set of the "Year of Space". It is a very nice build and I like it very much but it's crazy that they introduce a concept like the "Year of Space" and then have "space" sets for all other themes except Space (Space only got the small set above).

Is this a joke, or have I missed something? Super cute build either way!

Orange Classic Space torsos are back in stock on PAB!!

Yeah, I'm not seeing in on USA PAB.  Though the heads and torsos for the blue and white space babies are on there as well as the head for the blue space microfigure.  Not cheap though at $3+ each.

Had them in my cart for two days.  Was waiting on one other item and they went out of stock again.  Hopefully they come back and I'll pull the trigger rather than wait again.  Don't want to miss out like when the red ones never came back in stock.

Does anyone have the specific part number for the orange space torso?  Will make it easier to search for than wading through all the torsos.

Just type 5062 into the searchbox.

Great, thanks!  I've been trying to check once a day.  They were not in stock this morning.  I had a "bag" of PAB parts ready to go just waiting for the orange space torsos.  Thanks for the heads up, just placed my order!

That's a yikes. Not even a year old and on clearance. But i personally didn't by this wave feeling it was too nasa punk, not classic or 90s space enough for me.

Yeah, I feel like a take on space that is a little less grounded in reality could be really exciting.

I want to see sets that are more like what we got in the 80s and 90s with themes like Blacktron, M:Tron, Ice Planet etc. Things that are properly sci-fi rather than being "near earth near future" the way the many incarnations of City Space have been (yes this years line is a bit more sci-fi with the aliens etc but IMO it still feels very much "what NASA could look like in a few decades" rather than the fantastical truly sci-fi designs of the golden age of LEGO Space)

There is a leak of an upcoming GWP or Insider reward that appears to be a Tic-Tac-Toe game using Classic Space minifigs in White & Orange.  Five of each Minifig.  They have helmets but I can't tell from the picture if they have the air tanks.

I think I found the same pics. I see visored helmets but no air tanks. Weird.

Well, that would explain why the orange space torsos have been in stock very briefly at least twice on PAB.  Can only assume Lego is not interested in the orange space figure (complete anyway) being available for general purchase.  Can't understand what the logic is some times on availability of specific Lego parts/figures.  With the orange torso available in very limited quantities, it just seems to me Lego is enabling those who buy large lots on PAB the few times they make the part available.  I'm sure some (many? most?) just turn around and re-sell at a significant profit.  It's unclear to me how that helps the broader Lego community or supports the fanbase.

Excuse me if this is a stupid question, but what happened to the rumoured big black spaceship that was supposed to come out this year, has it been cancelled/revealed to be fake, or are we still waiting for an announcement?
