Shadows Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 They only just voted off a silver tongued sneak before the game was paused; they don't need another one. I just finished reading that. Had to check to make sure it wasn't me. *mutters to self* Win two games as a loyalist and one as a rat and what do they remember you for?
Dragonator Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 So! It ran up to a point and stopped? Are most of the players even around anymore? I'm sure replacements could be found for the missing, of course... *cough* As I recall, we spent two mafia days throwing insults at each other and trying to vote off Hinckley, who had been proven as a filthy hill pleb after somehow manipulating the entire group into killing our investigator. That was two days earlier. I'm not sure if we even managed to kill him before the game was paused. For that matter I can't even remember my role. Perhaps starting it afresh might be a smart plan.
Shadows Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'm not sure if we even managed to kill him before the game was paused. For that matter I can't even remember my role. Perhaps starting it afresh might be a smart plan. Perhaps. I actually caught up, know who half the traitors are and he was about to be sent to the arena. For some reason, I think he had a plan, but damned if I know what it was. Pure lunacy. He even tried the Rotrigous Gambit before I invented it, but he did it completely wrong. Oh, and he kept killing you and calling people pigs. And oinking.
Dragonator Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Oh, and he kept killing you and calling people pigs. And oinking. Ah yes, good times.
Escape The Fate Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Perhaps. What is a rotrigous gambit?
Shadows Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 What is a rotrigous gambit? Rotrigous Gambit A classic maneuver that occurred during Mystery Castle. Basically, I had been told that I had to betray the leader of the traitors in order to win and that he was trying to discover who was going to betray him. I knew I needed to get rid of him quickly, and at the same time, build up public opinion that I was loyal. Despite having no visible evidence of his treason, I accused him and then declared that "If he doesn't turn out to be bad, you can kill me tomorrow!" It's important to note that it only works when the person you're accusing is actually bad. After that, I used his death to remind people that I must be loyal (when I wasn't) and if it hadn't been for my inability to get a treacherous investigator killed, I think we would have won.
Scouty Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Are most of the players even around anymore? I'm here! Ah, yes, we voted for Hinckley. Thanks for summing it up so nicely!! I still remember my role. I've yet to reveal it . Rotrigous GambitA classic maneuver that occurred during Mystery Castle. You (Or someone else) did that again in Witch Hunt Mafia, if I recall correctly.
Shadows Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 You (Or someone else) did that again in Witch Hunt Mafia, if I recall correctly. It wasn't me, I was so confused during that game that I wouldn't have even considered it. Maybe it was Hinck, since he was the only actual witch.

I pulled that stunt in Baritones II, but you twisted my claims, when I am pushing Pavarti to the chopping board instead of myself. When Pavarti is convicited, I knew the rest will believe that I am loyal. I am sure that what's he is thinking when you are trying to thrawt my life line.
Escape The Fate Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Oh ok. I presume that Rotrigous was the name of the character. I hope I can participate in the next game.
Shadows Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I pulled that stunt in Baritones II, but you twisted my claims, when I am pushing Pavarti to the chopping board instead of myself. When Pavarti is convicited, I knew the rest will believe that I am loyal. I am sure that what's he is thinking when you are trying to thrawt my life line. Yeah. It makes me feel all warm inside, too. Oh ok. I presume that Rotrigous was the name of the character. I hope I can participate in the next game. Right, Rotrigous, the King's Advisor and misunderstood hero of Mystery Castle. As for participating, you never know. I did notice you reading the threads a lot when I was posting, so it was nice to see that someone other than the players was following along.
Zepher Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Misunderstood? I understood you Roddy! I thought it was Ritz? Never mind them. I used the Ritz Gambit as Mary too. We killed a hell of a lot of Traitors in that game.... I've come up with plans for each of my characters so far. The Mary Gambit Sleep with any and all signifigant players. Let them come to you (becuase you don't have night actions) and then just wait it out, and claim "I couldn't be a traitor! I was with______" NOTE: This will fail if the person you're sleeping with turns out to be a traitor. The Joan Gambit Be a total prick. See how far you get. The Zabby Gambit Be a awesome player with your first night action. Investigate lots of people (two) and gather information by trading with various people. Use the PM system, but be open with your information. Wait as long as you can to reveal you night action, but then reveal it to everyone so they can use your info. Also, your husband is obviously a traitor, but character makes you stay with him. That's it really.
Trexxen Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) "if it hadn't been for my ability to get a treacherous investigator killed..." Aww, thanks. =D Western Mafia Gambit (I forget my name from that one, I don't even think we had names unless we decided them ourselves =P) Pretend to be loyal by getting in with a group that vows not to vote for other group members. Laugh evilly as you destroy the loyal townies from the inside out. Grim Gambit Make sure that everyone knows you're an investigator only when you're sure you won't be killed for it. Manage to pull off way more "kill me tomorrow if we have no better info..." than you should feasibly be able to do. Be a treacherous investigator. Trexxisanti/Quarrioni Gambit Pretend to make peace with a night killer that you're sure is going to kill you. Kill him. =P Oh, and not game specific (well, maybe a little in Baritones II...): Treacherous Gambit Pick a fellow mafian/rat/traitor/witch. Kill that person, come out as a vigilante later on and claim that kill. ~Trexxen Edited March 9, 2009 by Trexxen
Scouty Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Let me take a shot at these gambits ! The WitchHunt Mafia Gambit I'm innocent, there isn't much to do. Huh, that didn't work
Adam Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Philip Gambit Start off the game as a snob, posting nonsense just to seem like you're participating while occasionally saying something intelligent. Steadily grow crazier and crazier until everyone believes you're a certified madman - no one believes you, but no one thinks you're much else either. Al Gambit This gambit is really too good for me to just throw around.
Bob Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Al GambitThis gambit is really too good for me to just throw around. Actually, I thought that the Al Gambit was getting burned by a madman killer...Oh well, beats sleepin' with the fishes, which is what we would have done with you.
ptdapen Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Alright here it goes for gambits... Mayor Gambit: Pretend to be the saint of all of the people of Moonlight. Act cautiously but support the killing of innocents to avoid suspicion. Stay in the spotlight that I'm automatically in to avoid the suspicion of backing down. Fernando Gambit: Be slow to take out people. Use investigation powers instead and hint towards it. Reveal when necessary. Do not accuse people without evidence or else much attention will come from executing the people (and still I was condemned) Pavarti Gambit: Lay low this time when there is a chance to do so. Support the people who are innocent instead and try to backfire on the innocents accusing them. And regarding Willie vs. Pavarti, do not openly accuse Willie. Act peaceful yet sacrificial. Willing to be sacrificed at night along with Willie pretending to be innocent and seeing no use to resist. How fun The Rotriguos Gambit was used a lot. A bunch of people used it in Witch Hunt, I remember that.
Lego12 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Lee Gambit: Tell many not so funny jokes. Fight over girls. Get killed during the night. People think your jokes were horrible and that you're a pyschotic nutjob. That's me. LeAnn Gambit: Guess a rat, right. They believe you about everything, while you look smart. Screw up, and you die. In the end, everyone thinks your a crazy nutjob. Enjoy and remember, never use these gambits. They suck.
Bob Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Let me try the: Betty Gambit Offer to do everyones taxes for a reasonable price, like half off on taxes! Also yell out random nonsence every once inawhile, like the Moonlight Travel Brouchore, and also point the blame at the man with the camera that looked like a rocketlauncher. Hey, it worked...
Ricecracker Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Sorry, is/when is the Roman Mafia continuing?
Professor Flitwick Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Sorry, is/when is the Roman Mafia continuing? Anybody know what the deal is? I believe Hink said that if it hadn't restart by the time he got back, the we can start the one after that (he said that last Friday, said he'd be pack in a week). I think it'll be hard to resume it, people like Casewindu unfortunetly don't come by here any more, and some pep's say the can't remember who there character was. Flint Gambit See who discovered the body/bodies, and blame them for the murders, until one of you are dead.
Hinckley Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Oh what the hell is wrong with you people? Rotrigous GambitA classic maneuver that occurred during Mystery Castle. Basically, I had been told that I had to betray the leader of the traitors in order to win and that he was trying to discover who was going to betray him. I knew I needed to get rid of him quickly, and at the same time, build up public opinion that I was loyal. Oh, look who knows so much. Wrong! Mister "Now I'm the King of Mafia games... I would never use something with such a stupid name as the "Rotrgous Gambit." And unless anyone feels like revealing all the roles from Roman mafia, I will not explain my "gambit..." By the way, most of your gambits have sucked. "if it hadn't been for my ability to get a treacherous investigator killed..."Aww, thanks. =D Western Mafia Gambit (I forget my name from that one, I don't even think we had names unless we decided them ourselves =P) Pretend to be loyal by getting in with a group that vows not to vote for other group members. Laugh evilly as you destroy the loyal townies from the inside out. That was all my fault. I didn't understand mafia games, but I understood "Survivor." Philip GambitStart off the game as a snob, posting nonsense just to seem like you're participating while occasionally saying something intelligent. Steadily grow crazier and crazier until everyone believes you're a certified madman - no one believes you, but no one thinks you're much else either. Al Gambit This gambit is really too good for me to just throw around. To be considered a "gambit" I think you would have had to have played well... Lee Gambit:Tell many not so funny jokes. Yes, never use these "gambits" as they are more than likely to lead to needing 24 hour in-home care later in life. Again, "gambit" should only be used where skill is involved. Sorry, is/when is the Roman Mafia continuing? Never, in it's current format. Correct! Since Tanotrooper pause the game for months and months and now can't seem to get it back up ... no more Roman mafia and I'm sorry to say we can't trust Tanotrooper to run a game at this time. Sorry ... What are my gambits? ... Dare I say? The "Hinckley in Roman Mafia" gambit- Try flying under the radar since you know you are the worst of the bad guys. When you are confusingly called out by an "investigator" and you still have no idea what a mafia game is or how it's played. Once you realize that nobody else does either, do your best to make Tiny Pius look like a crazy liar. Use those skills you perfected on the playground where you constantly talked your way out of being beat up for having the smartest mouth but always being the smallest guy ... with a moustache at age 11. (seriously, I was the first to hit puberty but never had a growth spurt so I was terribly awkward and had to learn to be a smartass to make up for it...or develop a Napoleon complex) Anyway, surprise even yourself when you talk everyone into killing off the investigator and then freak out the next day when you're painted into a corner. Oink at people and stab them. The Charles gambit- Sort of figure out the game and the convince yourself that you're right so much so that you just won't stop repeating yourself. Insult the intelligence of people who disagree with you. Bang your head against the wall. Insist so much that you're right and accuse anyone who disagrees with you of being a witch until Quarryman kills you like the jerk that he is. Then be more annoying in death than you ever could be alive and pester the game host by PM and taunt the remaining players in the discussion thread. Change people's titles to vent your frustration.
