Dragonator Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 It wasn't reorganized, it was just several months late already because of the various delays and crap. I don't know how that is going to effect the schedule, honestly. Oh, OK then. I was certain I was on the list before all those people and they were simply ahead because of the dates they said, but that's fine, I don't mind waiting. I am already halfway through building the sets though, and planned to have them finished in the next few weeks, so I don't really want to be delayed for 5 months or so.
Skinny Boy Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I'm guessing this is where we post ideas. Well, something came into my head, so I might as well. ApocaMafia. A group of survivors living in a lightly populated rebuilt town in the middle of nowhere constantly find themselves under attack from raiding gangs. The gate protecting the town holds back everything else, but this gang always makes it in to pillage what they can. Someone must be opening the gate for them. It is your job to figure out who is letting the gang in every time they raid the town. (In other words, kill off the gang members living within the gate). Each member will have a role in town, but there'll also be information on them from before the Apocalypse. Alright alright, ain't much to it. Just an idea. But hey, i've only played in one. So I best try and join whatever's on next.

AwesomeStar Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 (edited) I just had an idea for a game I'd love to run; a much-more generic mafia game, but laid out like a mix between MOTEE and Galactic Paranoia, as in it retains the freedom aspect of MOTEE, but is split into two parts like GP I present to you... Footstep Mafia... The year is 1947. My name's Terrence Hoffer - but you can call me Terry - and things have been gettin' pretty weird 'round here lately... The town has been split socially - on one side, you've got The Mob. Nasty, dirt crooks, dressed up like a child's doll in their fancy suits, flashin' their corrupt cash. Its madness... On the other side, you've got the Townies. Thats us - those left standin' after The Mob's raids and gang wars. Its a struggle, sure, but we'll get by. The thing is - its gettin' worse. Last week a young woman was help up in an act of robbery reminiscent of highway man hold-ups. Witnesses say it was The Mob, but they're too scared too make a formal statement. Anyway, I digress. The young woman - Gracie Powner was her name - was shot at point blank range. We don't know what bullet, what gun, or who shot it. All we know is that it was The Mob. Well, probably. Gracie was drivin' an armored truck - military type, amphibious - that she'd been given by her cousin who had served as a driver during the war. Some of us at the Police HQ reckon The Mob wanted it for drug runs, bank robberies - all that stuff. The Townies are mad, fueled and bent on revenge. They want justice for the death of their own, and wanna flush out the Mob and return the town to normal. Heh. Like we hadn't tried that already. I'm writin' this down so that if anything happens to me, the Townies'll know the situation and try harder. -------------- Thats just a small taster for you. I plan to make that as the opening poster for the game, complete will blood spills from what is obviously Terrence being shot. Here's some information; - Players will have the ability to move around freely and solve the case themselves. - The mystery will be split into two parts: * The Townies - their job is to solve the mystery and get The Mob out the town, or dead. * The Mob - their job is to take over the city and drive the Townies out. - Players can use any objects they find. Some may open doors or such, others can be used as a weapon or used in someway to progress through the level. - Players can use a new feature I want to bring to Mafia games: vehicles. Players can use the vehicle as a means to get around faster (but not too fast) and some vehicles might help solve the mystery. * Cars * Gracies' truck * Taxi service * Tram service Cars and the truck can be driven by the players themselves, but the taxi's and trams will be driven by extra players who will only appear when their vehicle is being used. These players know extra information and can provide clues. - I intend to modify The Brickster's Dynamic Movement: feature to include night actions, secondary actions, small fights and other things of the like. Of course, with TheBrickster's permission - Lastly, I hope this game (if I get to make it happen) will change the shape of Mafia games (or a few at least) with the style I wish to present it in and the way it is played. I hope all players have a great time That's all I can think of for now, but I am planning and plotting this in detail, so any questions, I will have the answers to them ~A.S. Darth_Legois Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Okay I pretty much got all my characters ready for my "1930's Mafa" (Still thinking up a better name..) got some buildings (thanks to town plan + my own) I just need Indy Shanghai Chase x2 and some bricklink pieces so I expect my game to be ready by sometime in September but should be up at the latest October. (if a mod could change it from 2010 please & thank you. ) But my camera is having issues but it should be fine by then , As soon as I get my camera sorted out I'll post a teaser. *btw the game will be shot in Black&White*
WhiteFang Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Thanks you two. I have a larger version I put up on Flickr as well. I'll deeplink it here if you're interested. Am I blind? I didn't notice this image until now. I wonder if the Black Knights have anything to do with this settings? That's mean, my force will be dropping by to your lands? To the rest whom have interest to host a mafia game, I strongly encouraged these group of people to participate in the games itself. Try a couple of games of different variations offered by our experienced hosts, to give yourself a feel of how such games should be conducted too. It's not easy to host a game, as it required lots of effort, coordination and extremely time consuming to build up the settings, tempo, administrative, arrangement and etc. We have seen past players whom have not demostrated the ability to host a good game, ending up like a waiting game. Before you want to start, are you ready to be online almost everyday for the next 1 to 2 months just to ensure the game will be moving at a smooth and steady pace. Think carefully.
Adam Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Thanks you two. I have a larger version I put up on Flickr as well. I'll deeplink it here if you're interested. I remember those bygone days of playing Fred, the clueless character who had no purpose whatsoever that was betrayed by his comrades... But I also remember how dang fun it was, and Jesus Christ Superstar, I can't wait to participate in the next one!
hewkii9 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Dragonator, when exactly is 'coming soon'? Just because I've never played a Mafia game here before, and I'm looking forward to signing up for one.
Dragonator Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Dragonator, when exactly is 'coming soon'? Just because I've never played a Mafia game here before, and I'm looking forward to signing up for one. That means whenever the current Mafia game is finished. Sign-up will commence after that as per the usual. We don't normally run more than one game at a time.
Eskallon Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi Can I be added to the list of future mystery games. I will be doin a game called battles of time.
AwesomeStar Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 HiCan I be added to the list of future mystery games. I will be doin a game called battles of time. You might want to share it here so the mods can approve of the game Also, a game is a lot of work, so maybe you should play a few first, then read through some finished games for experience, first. ~A.S.
Eskallon Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Hi again The details on the game are here. I have read a lot of mafia games and wargames in the past. Never had a chance to play one but if you add me to the list I am sure that I will be able to play one or two while I wait.
Sandy Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 I'd like to reserve a slot for a future Mafia game, namely Hogwarts Mafia. It will be situated in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter series. With the current list being so long, it seems like the game would be played sometime next year, which would suit me perfectly. Thanksies!
Ricecracker Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Would you be able to put me in a slot for a Mafia-esque game? I have yet to come up with a name, but here is the general idea: Somehow (Either a vacation, plane crash, etc.), all characters end up on a tropical island. All participants must work together to survive, while a/some killer/s in the group actively try to kill the rest of the group at night. There are a few other plot twists and ideas to it as well, that I'm still working out. I'd also love if someone wanted to co-host with me .

I would love to co-host, that is, as long as it's planned far enough in the future (after Mafia games already planned) so I would have enough experience. Unless you were thinking of a seasoned game host.
