Yes... :look:

I just guessed- it was probably one of the only mystery/mafia games before I started here, so I just figured. Too lazy to go look for the topic.

Why do the mod's and admins always get picked over new people, how can new people ever get experience if the same people are always picked. :hmpf_bad:

Sorry for my rant, just sick of getting denied, maybe games aren't for me.

Well, if this was my game, I'd not have picked you up because of the gazillion "report this post to a mod" I got from you. But that's just my advice. And probably the one of the admins who posted in the 5 pages topic about you in our non existing admin forum :classic: I can't tell for them though.

My two cents : relax. Eurobricks is a place to enjoy. If you start being negative and annoyed, or even stressed by browing and posting on a forum, maybe breathing some fresh air outside with your real life friends is a good thing to do

On another note, I shall be absent from the forum from tomorrow till Wednesday, the 20th to the 23rd. If you have any urgent issues, please direct these to another appropriate staff member. Shadows has volunteered.

I don't want to nag or something, but I think Big Cam has a point. I sincerely get the fact that hosting a mafia game is a very big task for the host, who spends hours and hours putting every piece together, so it is nice to have some players who are experienced and will guarantee your game to be a succes. But! I checked some older topics for the playing members and found the folowing numbers:

Shadows - 10 games

White Fang - 9 games

Hinckley - 7 games

Rickecracker - 8 games

I Scream Clone - 6 games

Stash2sixx - 8 games

Zepher - 9 games

Dragonator - 7 games

Quarryman - 8 games

Bob the Construction man - 7 games

Those are some large numbers. As I said before, I understand why these people get picked, and the reasons why are very understandable. But I still find it a disappointment not to get into one of these games. I understand that posting this will diminish my chance of playing in one of the upcoming mafia games. But I felt this had to be said and I totally agree with Big Cam.

No, I don't think it will decrease your chances of playing. I know that when it comes time for our Mafia game, we are going to try to strike a balance of new/old players. Something like 50/50. Sign-up for as many games as possible, you never know what'll happen.

I was allready planning to do so! Thanks for the advice. a 50/50 balance sounds very nice!

I understand, thank you for making me and everyone else aware.

Big Cam and badboytje88, I completely understand what you are saying, and while I don't think it is good form to complain about not getting into games and such, I can say that I am actually already working on a little something for early next year that may rectify your situation if I deem it necessary to do so. Until then, continue contributing to the rest of the boards in a high quality and constructive way, and keep signing up for games, for you may well get into the next one when it comes around. :classic:

There should be a rule that requires new players to read and fully understand the rules & basic mechanics of the game (And at least watch or look through 2 past games) BEFORE signing up.

How do you suppose that is supervised? Everyone needs to tick a "I have read the rules and agree with them" box before they can sign-up, like one of those user agreement contracts?

The fact remains that the best way to learn is through practice, and even if some of the new members don't know the rules when they enter the game, they sure as hell know them by heart when they leave the game.

I agree and I regret my previous comments, it was selfish, and only made me look bad.

Well....the tick box was the first thing that came to mind.

Maybe they have to quote who died and who lived in previous mafia games? (Seems like abit much though), Like a test to see if they know the rules and how to play.

I don't think that'd work either, because they could just read the conclusion

Somehow I doubt many people would study for the Noir Mafia test

I followed that before I was a member, and got REALLY confused.

I admit, I bought Shadows' FBI argument...

At first I was really annoyed, as I signed up for Red Moon and Prohibition, and ended up on the reserves list. Still, looking back on it that's quite good, as I must have been a member for about 11 days when the Red Moon sign-up was posted...

Maybe next time then...

Alright I'd like to host a mafia game but would like someone (a partner) to help me with it kind of like Prohibition. If anyone wants to reply or pm me. :classic:

Note: I was thinking a star wars themed one or space police but I'm open to suggestions.

Are you sure you're ready to make a game? you've only been in one mafia game before, and only lasted one day in said game. (Judging from your performance in Prohibition I'm guessing that it was your first game in our out of eurobricks{not an insult}),If I were you I'd wait until I've been both a townie and a Scum in one of these games to get a feel for it, (or at least another role or something) other wise you may not understand the mechanics of the game fully, and make mistakes. of course having someone who had previously hosted a game on your team would really help, IMO it's still good advise. I too am hoping to Host a game, but I'm waiting until I finish following my own advise before advertising my desire any further!

Hmm... Don't you think it's early for you to start your first mafia game hosting? :classic:

Prohibition Mafia is your very first experience into the game of mafia, and to be honest, the current experience right now which you have gained is not enough at this moment, to handle complex detailed organising a mafia games which will really required high amount of dedication, time, commintment, planning, and etc for a mafia game to work.

At this moment, I am very certain that you are still not very familiar with the entire mafia game structure in terms of both loyal and scum, and what they are capable of doing. Right now, I supposed you could keep your mind open and start drafting a possible story plot and at the same time keep on participating/signing up for new mafia games to increase your experience level.

I believe Dragonator, our Games Regulator will have some surprises installed for us in the future.

In addition, feel free to enquire and we will be glad to help you whatever we can.

Okay, Maybe not a test on the story but rather the rules? Because it seems some people don't read them. I don't know. :sceptic:

Also as for newer players wanting to host a game, It's not as easy as it looks :sceptic: , And I recommend playing several games before even thinking of attempting one, And maybe for your first you should co-host, It's just easier in terms of work, Also if one of the host's has problems (such as me my camera broke down...again) the other host can take over.

I think it would be really cool if someone started a mafia game based on the classic Twilight Zone episode "Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up?" If you don't know the story here is a link.Link

The episode would be, instead of days, set in hours. So instead of day one there could be hour one and so on. It would be a great story since you really never can guess who the alien is and also it would also get people to be a little more on edge. Just an idea in fact down the road I might use this to host a game if no one else uses it.
