Shadows Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 If I'm thinking right, red moon is a Mystery, and well Mafia games are mafia games? That's about it. Mafia is any game with voting and opposing sides trying to fight for dominance. Mysteries have puzzles and clues to drive the story. They usually result in a lot of deaths, but not as much by group decision as by individual mistakes. Sometimes they require you to solve the whole thing like a detective, and sometimes sheer survival through a dangerous situation is enough. We've had a few of each type here and there are more to come. This forum also hosts RPGs and Wargames, both of which will eventually be eligible for tags. The RPG side will probably get one of my dragons (maybe even the opportunity to choose). They are currently being used by the Games staff and advisors (Draggy and I carry both, plus Fangy and Quarryman have one each). In other words, playing games frequently and effectively is a good way to get a tag, but more importantly, it's a good way to get to know the members of the community, and kill them in the process.
Sandy Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Since the variety of games hosted here has greatly increased, in my opinion this forum should be renamed "LEGO Forum Games". Would make it a lot clearer than the current name.

My suggestion was "LEGO Forum Games", I don't really think anyone can mistake it's about LEGO video- or boardgames, especially with the description underneath.
Rick Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I know, and since it's under 'Special Interests' it shouldn't be too confusing that way. Maybe leave 'LEGO' out of the forum name totally, because most of the other forum names that include the word 'LEGO' relate to official LEGO themes? Maybe 'EB (Forum) Games'?

When I first learned of Mafia games and this forum, I thought it was a silly idea. Now I'm hooked and on my third game.
The Legonater Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Okay, so to get the Mystery tag you need to win a mystery game, and for a Mafia tag you need to win a mafia game? Sorry, i'm currently tring to figure out how to get as many tags as possible.
Ricecracker Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Okay, so to get the Mystery tag you need to win a mystery game, and for a Mafia tag you need to win a mafia game?Sorry, i'm currently tring to figure out how to get as many tags as possible. Sure, those are requirements, but not everybody who meets them gets the tags. Tags are awarded when the staff deem it appropriate. Don't just try to get tags; tags are a bonus for being a good member.

Sandy Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Since Dystopia Mafia is apparently nearing its conclusion, and the next one in line is Hinckley's "TBA" Mafia, I have to ask if you, Hinckley, are still going to host your game? It's just that you've been awfully inactive this whole year, and it seems to me I've only seen you hosting Red Moon and nowhere else. It might just be me being blind, though... Anyway, I'm asking this because my Hogwarts Mafia is the next in line after Hinck, and I'm going away on a trip to Florida to see the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter themepark on 15.-27. of June, so I won't be able to get online much at all during that time. So any hosting duties I have would have to start after I come back. I'm only saying this in case Hinckley cancels his Mafia-game, in which case I wouldn't be able to host my game immediately, but only in July. So either some other Mafia-game could be started, or there could be a month's hiatus in Mafia-games, but that's all for Dragonator to decide. I just really hope I won't be pushed all the way to the back of the list, as I've been waiting for my turn to host for almost a year. And of course I really hope to see what Hinckley's come up with in the mysterious "TBA" Mafia, even though I can't participate to it because of my trip.
The Legonater Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 And of course I really hope to see what Hinckley's come up with in the mysterious "TBA" Mafia, even though I can't participate to it because of my trip. I've been wondering that too. I hope it's good- anything that underwraps had got to be special.
Professor Flitwick Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I've been wondering that too. I hope it's good- anything that underwraps had got to be special. My money is on Baritones III or Fabuland (Housewives) Mafia.
Hinckley Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hmmmm... I'll have to push that back to after Sandy's. Packing and moving to a new place now and still finishing up the Mystery Game. Sorry about that...
Sandy Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hmmmm... I'll have to push that back to after Sandy's. Packing and moving to a new place now and still finishing up the Mystery Game. Sorry about that... It's okay, I personally don't mind. However, since Dystopia is likely to end before June, then June would have to be a hiatus month for Mafia-games, if that's alright for you, Dragonator. I'll promise to start the recruitment for Hogwarts Mafia before my trip, so the game can begin almost as soon as I get back. Hope this is a good solution to everybody. As I said earlier, I'd hate to lose my chance to host after almost a year waiting for it just because this trip happened to take place at the same time.
The Legonater Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 My money is on Baritones III. That's what I was thinking.

Don't just try to get tags; tags are a bonus for being a good member. I always thought the mafia tag was for a member who hosted a game. I've won all 3 mafia games I've played in and I definetaly don't feel I deserve the tag, maybe after like 10 more
JimBee Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I always thought the mafia tag was for a member who hosted a game.I've won all 3 mafia games I've played in and I definetaly don't feel I deserve the tag, maybe after like 10 more I don't think it's just winning the games, it's how well you play overall. You're very lucky to have survived all three (so far ), but it's usually likely that you'll die more often than not. Although I'm not entirely sure what merits a mafia tag... Looking forward to Hogwarts Mafia, Sandy! I'll be interested to see if you'll be using your own characters or the ones in the books.
Sisco Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Hogwarts Mafia? That's something I would be very interested in playing. Very, very interested.
CMP Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I can only imagine what that will be like. Death Eaters disguised as students?
Sandy Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 I can only imagine what that will be like. Death Eaters disguised as students? Oh, you'll find out soon enough. Well, in a few months' time at least.
Hinckley Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 After this chapter of Red Moon closes, there is only one chapter left which will be delayed for a month. A new mystery can start in the meantime... There aren't any more big puzzles to solve for Red Moon, just whodunit, so people can participate in a new one and finish up Red Moon once I get back...

The Legonater Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Bottom of the 1st post. Doi. *Facepalm* Of course it's in the most obvious spot possible.
Sandy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Sign-ups to Hogwarts Mafia will begin in two weeks time, and the game itself will commence at the beginning of July. Be ready when the magic starts happening.
