BrickfordCityFire Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) Hello EB! This is Engine 112's "new" ride: a 1987 FMC/Spartan (Refurbished/Rebuilt 2020). This rig is by far my favorite engine so far and I am very pleased with how it turned out. For the sake of story telling, this rig had its chassis rebuilt, and the engine and pump where replaced with a 2020 Cummins Diesel and a 2020 Hale 2000 GPM Pump system. DodgeDude5498 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 (edited) Beautiful rig! The chevrons pretty good, the colors are as good as a printer can do and they aren't too thick, but I would suggest not having quite so sharp an angle. Maybe 80 degrees or something would look better? I do a 90 degree angle on mine but a slightly sharper one can look good too. Oh and also, move the 1x8 blue tile under the hard suction and ladder (love that ladder design btw, didn't notice that before!) back one stud and add a 1x1 blue tile, then it won't look a little funny over the taillights. Yeah, I am still playing around with chevron designs On 12/1/2020 at 11:51 PM, DodgeDude5498 said: Oh and also, move the 1x8 blue tile under the hard suction and ladder (love that ladder design btw, didn't notice that before!) back one stud and add a 1x1 blue tile, then it won't look a little funny over the taillights. So, funny story, that's how the studio model is, but I had collisions turned off by accident and didn't notice that it would actually collide with the 1x2 black tile. I went to build it IRL only to discover that I had to do it this way. Quote

American Fire apparatus last a LONG time. My town had a 30 year old engine they just sold to another department which is refurbishing it. If a department needs to save money, or just really likes a certain piece of equipment, they will refurbish it or rebuild portions of it to keep it going. These old FMC rigs are still in service in some towns. People also collect and restore old apparatus as a hobby. Edited December 4, 2020 by BrickfordCityFire Quote

Like Josh said, they last a long time! The Mack CF (probably the most iconic fire truck of all time) is a great example, they're 45+ years old and a whole lot of them are still in service! Most have been updated in various ways with new or refurbished bodies, new motor, etc, and not all are in front line service, but departments all over the country love them. Quote
