Sandy Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) Hey to all! I'm soon 24 years old Finnish fan of LEGO. I actually hadn't built much of anything with my bricks for almost ten years, until I fell for the new Fantasy Era Castle sets. I began to buy them (it's every child's dream to get to buy your own toys, am I right?) and I found this site at the same. I'm experiencing a serious nostalgia trip back to my younger years, but I honestly believe that you're never too old for LEGO, you just have to have a heart for them. ;D I'd love to build many things for you to show, but unfortunately all of my old legos are still back at my childhood home. I seriously need to fetch them... Right now all I have here are my Fantasy Era sets (nine of them, exactly) and one puny Star Wars set (bought to me by my boyfriend, who obviously hasn't rediscovered his inner child yet.) Back home I have older Castle-, Pirates-, Western-, Space- and Paradisa-sets. All in all, there's not that much of them, but quality over quantity, as I always say! ;D But I think I will post some of my own creations soon, probably a photocomic story featuring the lovely princess in my avatar (I just got the real one today!). LEGO sets really need more female minifigs, and not just damsels to be saved by some wannabe-heroes, but ones with strong character! Like the female ninjas or the princess knight in King Leo's Castle. ;D Okay, I think I've babbled enough. See you all around here! Sandy out. Edited June 2, 2008 by Sandy Quote
Shadows Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Welcome to EB and most of all, back to the brick, Sandy! It's always wonderful to hear of someone finding their way back to LEGO, especially after so many years. This current Castle line is quite impressive, I can see why it would do the trick. It even brought me back to Castle, after losing my interest in it way before my actual dark ages. A new comic would be great, I don't think we've ever had one told from a female point of view before, certainly not in Castle. Please be sure to keep us updated on that, as well as any MOCs you may wish to share. I am one of the few lucky ones in that the love of my life has actually shown a promising LEGO side, despite not having any interest in it as a child. Keep working on that boyfriend of yours, if he's worthwhile, he'll come around. Thanks for joining and making such a detailed introduction! Quote
Quarryman Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Welcome to EB Sandy! Always good to see another AFOL return back from the dark ages And I completely agree about the current Castle sets, it's my favourite theme at the moment too Looking forward to seeing your MOCs and comic Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Welcome to Eurobricks, Sandy! I am looking forward to your story too. I am interested in their plot, always love to read stories especially when its related to LEGO. I am also a Castle lover and at the moment, some of us are particpating in EBRP (Eurobrick Roleplay) such as ImperialShadows. Do take alook. Quote
Asuka Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hello and welcome to the more spongy side of the brick, Sandy. Quote
legotrainfan Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Welcome to this forum! I find it nice when women join our community. There aren't so many women around here. Quote
Alice Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Welcome Sandy! But I think I will post some of my own creations soon, probably a photocomic story featuring the lovely princess in my avatar (I just got the real one today!). LEGO sets really need more female minifigs, and not just damsels to be saved by some wannabe-heroes, but ones with strong character! Like the female ninjas or the princess knight in King Leo's Castle. ;D This sounds pretty interesting. I can't wait to see it. I definitely agree that female minifigs should have strong character. Also, I am currently collecting Paradisa (I just put together the arcade and the cabana today) and Pirates mostly. I have acquired a good bit more recently due to my lego addiction becoming more out of control. I am one of the few lucky ones in that the love of my life has actually shown a promising LEGO side, despite not having any interest in it as a child. That would be me. Ras 74 Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 Welcome to our boards! Hope you will enjoy your stay with us. Also always nice with more females, and specially Scandinavians Would really like to see your comic. Bet the princess will be a strong character then. So you got yourself a POAAFOL (Partner Of An AFOL). What does he think of your new hobby? See you arround! -Ras- Quote

What does he think of your new hobby? I'm shooting the first chapter of the comic tonight (I just finished building the setting from my measly pile of bricks), but I'm not sure when I have time to PhotoShop it into a comic, since I'm leaving for a vacation soon. As for my POAAFOL (all these anagrams are funny too), for now he's just mildly amused, and humoring me when I show him my MOCs. But he has no choice but to support me, since he's a huge Harry Potter -fan and I've been supporting him with that. Just today I finished a new illustration/wallpaper for his fansite. ;D The only thing he doesn't like about this rediscovered hobby of mine is the amount of money it takes. XP Quote

Hi Sandy I'm sure you'll enjoy EB as there are plenty of people who agree with this, well the first part anyway =) Quote

Sandy Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) Buy him some Harry potter sets and he shall calm down a bit I'd love to buy myself some HP-sets, but they're so damn expensive nowadays. It's a shame those came out during my "dark age", like so many of you here put it... The photocomic I talked about earlier is now up at the History & Adventure forum, btw.
