trooperdavinfelth Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) Ah, thanks trooper, that was the answer I was looking for! You are right, I checked CC007's posts and that's pretty much what he said except for the one-stud part - that is only for vignettes. You need to have everything standing on the baseplate(s) (all vehicles & everything), but you can still have as much hanging over as you want (plants, minifigs, & stuff). Here is the proof for it:Got it? There you go! I knew I was both right and wrong about something. Yeah, I knew there was something about overhang. I confused it with the vig' rule as you said. BIG EDIT: I encountered a problem and I'm going to have to withdraw my entries. I can't enter this contest. I'm sorry, but I'm withdrawing. So I will be voting but count my entries out. Don't worry, there's plenty more to vote for! I have to withdraw the entries; personal info and all that didn't bode well with my parents. So sorry, all. After all the trouble you went through to make your entries fit the rules and all? So, you mean that if you would enter and win something, your parents would not allow you to give away your address to have your prize mailed to you? That sucks, dude, but at least we got to see what you would have entered. Those were some interesting entries! Parents! Quote

Anyways, Oky Wan, I counted the stud total on the AT-TE, and I estimate about 50 studs, not including gun overhang. So if your looking to place it on a base plate, Id use around 60 for the AT-TE, just to be safe. BTW, are you using any other CW sets? Can we have a little spoiler/ preview? I understand if you want to keep it top-secret, but I can feel that yours will be a winner equipped with the shiny new sets! Also that youre always good at contests/ MOCs Quote

That is just the length of it, right? If so, how wide is it, do you suppose? BTW, are you using any other CW sets? Can we have a little spoiler/ preview? I understand if you want to keep it top-secret, but I can feel that yours will be a winner equipped with the shiny new sets! Also that youre always good at contests/ MOCs Aw, thank you! Well, yeah, I will try to make this one of my best MOCs to date! I haven't done a lot of landscaping yet, so I don't know how it will turn out. And I am not sure about what I will do yet either; I am still trying to get a good idea. The best one I had so far was creating a Battle of Dagobah scene (non-cannon), inspired by Battlefront 2. It would involve Anakin and Asokah having to rescue Obi Wan and Cody whose RGS has been downed by the CIS and is now half sunken in a swamp. So, this scenario would include the new AT-TE, the clone scout walker, some speeder bikes, half an RGS MOC (maybe made from the new set), a hailfire droid, a dwarf spider droid, a recolored snail tank, a crab droid MOC, some STAPs, and maybe the new HSD or a MOC of one - it depends on which CW set I will choose to get this month: The RGS or the HSD. The swamp and jungle like environment for this shouldn't be hard to do since I have a lot of green, black, and brown bricks at the moment. If I can't come up with anything even better, I will go with this idea. Any comments or ideas? Edited July 13, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
CloneMe Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 i have a question; is photoshopping allowed? Umm i dont think so. It shouldnt be. What would be the point of the contest if you photoshopped? Quote
Artizan Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 what i meant was adding laser and lightsaber effects Quote
CloneMe Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Ohh. well im not sure. I dont think it really matters. I just saw your pics anyways and i think the ones without the lasers is better. Just my opinion. Quote

That sucks, dude, but at least we got to see what you would have entered. Those were some interesting entries! Parents! Yeah, I don't really mind. I didn't think it'd go through well with them anyways but at least I gave it a shot, and I now know that contests are not for me. And I'll still post the actual Battle for Project 13 when I get it. (in a different topic for the MOC, of course ) Yeah, Im really sorry to hear that, TDF . You said it... That's OK, JB! We all have our ups and downs in life and I've had enough of each to know that there's no need to stop and sit down and give up.(meaning life) I may have gave up this little entry(bet) but I won't give up life(the race)! (and where did I get that little line from? An alien, and almost a villian, of all people! ) Also, photoshopping IS allowed as long as you post a seperate picture of it WITHOUT the photoshopping. At least that makes sense. Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Posted July 13, 2008 i have a question; is photoshopping allowed? As long as you don't add more bricks on somehow , but if you're just adding 'Special Effects' such as lasers and visual enhancements, and not altering the model in any way, photoshopping would be just fine. Trooperdavinfelth, I'm sorry to hear about that. Good work anyways. Also, I'm glad we already have three pages of entries, but I'm also supporting those of you who are waiting for July 26th. But unless you already have a lot of you stuff already built, you'll have to work fast after getting your Clone Wars set to finish your entry by the deadline of July 31st. I'll be really excited to see some of the new Clone Wars sets featured in these entries! Quote

CloneMe Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Hey, Fat Tony I dont quite understand how yours is a vignette (It looks really cool by the way) but it is supposed to be laying down not standing up. I looked at you my space page. Just wondering if you could clerify. Quote

Yah partially but if you were to lay it down you would be able to tell that, that was the way it was meant to be. On his brickshelf he has pics laying down. To me it is somewhat obviouse that it is supposed to lay down. Quote
JimBee Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Oh, to answer your queston, Oky Wan, the AT-TE is about 14 studs wide. Quote
Oky Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Oh, to answer your queston, Oky Wan, the AT-TE is about 14 studs wide. Thanks, Jim, but what I need to know is the distance between the outter ends of the two middle feet. It it's probably something between 30 and 40 studs. Can anyone make a more exact estimate? Quote

As I recall on his mocpages, he said something about 'their gravity is different to human', explaining the reason for this...phenomenon. Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 Hey, Fat Tony I dont quite understand how yours is a vignette (It looks really cool by the way) but it is supposed to be laying down not standing up. I looked at you my space page. Just wondering if you could clerify. I don't see anything wrong with it, nor do I see a rule that says 'The vignette must be laying down not standing up'. I think Fat Tony came up with a perfectly ingenious way to increase the size of his vignette entry, and I think he has a good shot a placing in the vignette category. Good work with your vignette, Fat Tony! Quote

Oky Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 (edited) Try looking at the instructions... I have, Silly but how am I supposed to find out how many studs those angled TECHNIC legs are putting the feet away from the body? Edited July 18, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Axel Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Did I miss something? Why can't you just measure it directly? Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I have, Silly but how am I supposed to find out how many studs those angled TECHNIC legs are putting the feet away from the body? Oh... Now I understand your question. Well, I really don't know. If you have time after you have the AT-TE why don't you just wait until you get it, and in the meanwhile make a cool MOC tank to replace it if it's too wide? I'll look at the instructions and try and make an assumption. Did I miss something? Why can't you just measure it directly? BECAUSE HE DOESEN'T OWN IT! Quote
NewRight Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Yay! I finished. I actually quite like my entries. Quote

If you have time after you have the AT-TE why don't you just wait until you get it, and in the meanwhile make a cool MOC tank to replace it if it's too wide? Nah I'm too lazy for that. Seriously, though, I have considered it, but I just don't think that I can make one that is nearly as good as the official one , and I don't have the right parts in the right color to build one from the official instructions. Then again, maybe it would be interesting having a recolored version of it ... Oh well, I'll see what I can do. I'll look at the instructions and try and make an assumption. Thanks! BECAUSE HE DOESEN'T OWN IT! Exactly! Quote
