I know there was chatter a while back about the poor ground clearance for a trial truck.  The retort was that it was not officially labeled as a trial truck.  Well... I guess it is after all...

That Skateboard picture will be interesting. If the Zetros can actually climb a Skateboard at that angle I would be impressed, that angle is pretty steep. But if it cannot that picture would be a bit questionable... I guess it comes down to what the mentioned gearbox will be.

Agreed.  Good point. I was thinking the same thing...

I'm more interested in seeing if it can climb that stack of books!

Also lawl at TLG's attempts to be "kewl" with the sk8board...

I'm not reading this as such: skateboards like that (I believe the proper term should be "longboard") are quite common for the last few years (so it's easy to get one), but crucially: they have the perfect surface for climbing :)

It´s confirmed that Grohl is the disegner of this set

Are you sure? Who confirmed it? Cause the duck reminds me of the teddy bear from 42070, which was Uwe's.

Grohl confirmed it on his fanpage.

My view hasn't changed yet. I'm still in the "let's wait and see how realistic the drive train and layout is" frame of mind. I am intrigued by the description though. "Detailed gearbox"? Wonder what they mean by detailed, like do they mean realistic, covered inside a box, in the right place, or just barely functional? And also "limited slip differential"? That's not a manually locking diff, so maybe it's one with high internal friction? Also it looks to be a decent climber from the pic on the skate board. Still undecided till I see the drive train and possibly some new parts but I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Not realistic certainly, not by a long shot. Maybe something like the gearbox of the Volvo hauler? The limited slip differential is a curious one though, I wonder what they mean by that...

---

The skateboard photo is pretty funny though. Whoever set up the scene for photography didn't think of adding some sort of ramp or ladder so that the truck would be able to actually reach the skateboard, assuming it actually can climb like that? The truck is probably glued to the skateboard, it would be too much of a hassle to have it sit there just by friction, but I'm guessing this thing nevertheless will have pretty good climbing ability on skateboard-like surface.

Thanks, I see it on facebook now. How can LEGO not recognize that this kind of package design artwork is 100x times cooler than the plain, black one?

On right side of box it says wedo 2.0's normal M motor. But why need 4 motor for just driving? 1 driving, 1 steering, 1 difflock, 1 gearbox? Or 2 drive 1 steering 1 difflock? And why TLG use L for driving?

The big question for me is what Lego means by limited-slip differential. Literally, this should be a differential with internal resistance to slipping, or more realistically, a minimum amount of rotation per side, preventing a slip situation. It is certainly possible that this is just inaccurate marketing, and that it will have a standard locking differential. Nonetheless, with only four motors, it would seem that two for drive, one for steering, one for the gearbox, and none for the actual limited-slip differential would be reasonable.

Also, as has been noted earlier, a new PU hardware component was confirmed. Will it be a recolored WeDo M-motor in this set, something in the CAT, or something else entirely?

The gearbox is also intriguing, though I wouldn't hold out for more than two speeds.

Found a few other pictures. Also the backside of the box showing the position of the m-motor.

My guess for the limited clutch is a lockable differential that connects directly to the linear clutch.

The 4 motors can be for drive, steer, gearbox switch, and differential lock.

42099 hubs are coming back!

On the last photo: Is that a white pin with stop bush? I can't tell for sure. On the back of the box they are advertising it as being able to climb a steep angle, although that is not 45 degrees.

It's LBG.

The slope shown is "60-80%", so not 45° but not much less than that either if we can believe the 80% figure.

Nowhere does it say 45°. The box advertises 60-80% which means 31-39° only.

I'm not sure. The back half motor is LBG, the pin seems lighter to me. It could very well be flat silver which they also make nowadays...

I am aware. The skateboard picture is very clearly steeper than what is shown on the box though.
edit: also, the box doesn't advertise any angle. Unless the LEGO version weighs 40 tons and has over 500 bhp, the angle that is shown on the box is what the real thing can climb.

I think I see a new long CV joint head which should allow the axles to freely slide in and out on the box photo showing the rear side.

That's expected because the rear axle is a live axle. 42069 uses that technique too.

The article I linked mentioned a "sperdifferentieel", which translates to "limited slip differential". Either the translation is off or the wave selector doesn't lock the differentials.

Did anyone notice the 3x2 beam  with all pinholes on the front wishbones?. they are conneceted to a 1x2 cross block by a black pin 2L with bush.

I think that's a standard 3x5 beam.
