These two technic parts with rubberized elements are quite common, I am not aware of any others that are somewhat common that are rubberized or soft plastic.

I am looking for something that may be only the width of one beam wide, with a cross-axle connection, Any thoughts?

I used the above once as the legs of a 6-legged walker, worked nice as there were little 'impacts' and good friction with the ground.

There was a version of this 32474.jpg with some of the bionicle sets. It was made of very soft yellow/green (see below) rubber and had some 'fins' and an axle hole. Could not find it on Bionicle. The axle hole would not grasp hard enough though.

The part you are describing is this:60929.jpg?0, 60929 Shadow Leech. They wee only available in trans light blue, never yellowish green. But, they might not be useful for certain things, what is the rubber piece needed for? If you are in need of ideas , another solution is to mount a small town car tire on a half bushing.

Thanks for the suggestions, and yes, I am contemplating a walker, with good climbing ability, and with 16 legs - currently in the planning stages right now. Good to hear that the arrow shooter part works well as walker legs.

Thanks. That's exactly the one. I was going from memory I guess but it seems that's not so good nowadays. Good find nonetheless. From my recollection (and this IS correct), those parts have a very small clamping/grasping clutch and would come off easily. It's made from a very soft silicone, much softer than the other rubber parts.

There are few versions of the rubberized legs (shooters). The one you're showing (below, left) is the most recent, but not the 'softest'. I used an earlier version (below, right), which had a softer (more cushioning) feel to it. Not to be critical of TLG but, the modern one is a cost-reduced version of the old model.

Can IR receivers work through one-stud-length of technic beams? Well, I am building something on LDD, and I have the IR receiver out of site, behind a technic panel, that is around 1 stud in width. There are holes on it, obviously, for connecting pins, so I thought the basic IR controller can still send a signal that the receiver can receive, even if it is within my model, behind a panel. But, I have never tried this in real life ( I am working on LDD, and don't own IR controllers and receiver XD). Any input will be helpful, and thanks in advance!

I believe those require a line-of-sight. Now, on the other hand, the new S-Brick works via BlueTooth and as such, requires no line of sight. It's a bit like the PlayStation remote.

You can see how the IR receiver fits perfectly in my MOC. But there is a panel above it, and an opening beside it. I wanna see if it can still receive a signal (I really don't want to redo my MOC). Here is the pic (p.s., can someone tell me how to post flickr photos?).

Ok, so I want to rebuild Lego 8258, using new(ish) parts. I never had the chance to get this set, since I live in Canada. I have the Unimog (8110), but I never really liked it much. I built it once, then dismantled it recently. So I have 2048 pieces to work with, plus all the pieces from set 8068 (I got this set as a brand new gift, never built). I went to a website, and saw which pieces I am missing. I am able to buy all the parts directly from the Lego website, however, I have a question. Do parts that say "out of stock" ever come back in stock? One part that says "out of stock" is this one 64393.gif

Another part is this one 62531.jpg

^ However, for this part (second pic), I can find an alternative one with the new extra holes in it (which I don't like but whatever). I never tried calling them but before I do, do you think the red long, smooth panel (first picture) will ever be in stock?

I built 8258 via Ebay, i bought all the parts brand new....and i got the part list 100% accurate. It took months and about €400....but i got there :-)

The parts you mentioned are available brand new, i have seen them on Ebay....do a search by part number or Lego 8258. The original Red panel without holes can be got...those panels have appeared in some Bionicle sets.

Do a search on Bricklink, if push comes to shove you can deffo get them second hand. I built 8258 + 2285 from buying in parts...it was well worth the time, effort and money :-)

Thank you kind man   !

very welcome.

Try to get the 8996 Bionicle Skopio set, it's full of technic parts, decent price, and has 8× the part you're looking for.

Seeing as many of us here in the Technic forum (myself included) rarely seem to venture outside our comfort zone (said forum), I feel the need to direct some extra attention towards this fantastic MOC of a Royal Air Force GR9 Harrier made by Bricktrix that he posted in the "Special Themes" forum. Just.. Wow! Look at that thing!

Discussion should of course be in the dedicated topic

I have a question. Is it safe to wash Lego (technic elements in particular) with water and dishwashing soap? I used ~3 liters of water, and around half a teaspoon of dishwasher soap (Sunlight soap in particular, the one you use to wash dishes by hand) and I used it to wash roughly 1300 pieces. I rinsed out the lot of pieces 4 times to get all the soap out, and I let the pieces air dry in a towel (changed the towel once it got too wet). After a whole day, the pieces were fully dry. Was it the soap safe? Because I have some concerns now for my pieces...

No, your pieces are fine. Pretty much everybody washes parts using dish soap.

So I was wondering, are automatic gearboxes not liked in technic MOCs ? And if you knew some good designs ?

One last thing, what can you do with the 32 stud longer axle ?

Last thing: you can use it for telescopic booms, or you can send it to me.

I hope that the red 8z gears without friction will get reused in other sets, because I personally don't want them to become like the pneumatic cylinder brackets, immensely useful, but also selling for insane prices on the secondary market.

Also, I found an article on a NASA test rover, and I think that somebody should build it. http://www.popularmechanics.com/space/moon-mars/a15094/nasas-new-car-looks-like-a-cart-handles-like-a-hot-rod/

Look at it go!

Also on things I would like to see built: the Sany SCC-36000

According to Engineering News Record, it is one of the largest cranes in the world. Just go through the slideshow, there's lots of cool stuff in there.

Very good find! I like the one below (#7 I think). It's a cross-breed between technic and trains. Any volunteer? The size of the circle (scale of the crane) is already fixed by the curved tracks of the train system and that means a MOC is going to be HUGE!

Ah yes, the Mammoet PTC cranes are awe inspiring. Actually, T.J. Avery built a Lego model of the MSG-50 (Slide 10) many, many years ago, even before the Power Functions system. http://www.texbrick.com/model_msg50/

I actually want to build a version of the PTC- 200, and something similar to the Terex CC-8800 Twin, even though Abrant23 already made a version:

Funnily enough, I have made a ring crane, but on a smaller scale, that is sort of like the Sarens SGC-120. I think I will post it tomorrow.

What do you mean by "Automatic"? Most Lego creations that have gearboxes have ones that are shifted remotely, so that could be considered automatic. Or, are you referring to gearboxes that change gear with no user input at all? Nico71 built a Trial Truck with one, and Sariel had an idea for one as well. Nico's idea and execution are amazing, and so is his explanation as to how it works.

So I might be getting a buggy motor so I can build a small rally car. The question I have is wether the AAA battery box could power the buggy motor with a v2 receiver ? The battery box uses six Duracell rechargeables that are 7.2 volts and have 1000 mAh.

Posted

I have seen the PF system power a buggy motor, i suppose you just need to be careful and not overload it,

Is it weird that i bought a 8285 (its being sent assembled), and i want someone else to disassemble it for me, because i don't want to have the building process spoiled?
