Haha, I didn't read that right the first time, I thought you said "get it for $40 dollars" Anyways, in Canada, they're actually about 100 dollars more than retail now . BTW, anyone know of a good set to build a trailer out of? More specifically for the Arocs? Quote
Saberwing40k Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 What kind of trailer? The kind of trailer you would want would obviously inform the set that would be good for building it out of. Also, I discovered something about the new pneumatic cylinders, and the old cylinder bracket included in 8275 and 8241. The new cylinders are not compatible with the bracket. But, I'm going to figure out a way to connect them end to end, oh yes. Quote

Limga Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Hello everybody! First time to post here:) Sorry if there are mistakes, I'm not native English speaker. Has anyone used Power Puller wheels with different tyres? I want to build light crawler on Power Puller wheels with the relative lightweigth 94.8 tyres, but I don't want to strain the tyres unless it gives good results. Did anyone had such experience? Quote

Yeah, did with my cheetah: Also used same wheels later in the Mammuth 8x8 crane. They do get stretched a bit, but havent tested if they reset back... I used the bigger rimes to stop the tyres slipping on standard rims. Edited November 28, 2015 by Zblj Quote

Thank you for answer, now I'm not scared to put 94 tyres on Power Puller wheels. Also, I measured up the diameters of Puller's and 56's wheels and they are the same. Power Pullers just have two bigger rims on both sides. I want to use PP wheels because of their offset and I thought that you used them by the same cause. But you put them in a way the pivot point is even bigger than on 56 wheels. I know that standart portals don't fit in opposite way. But will it perform better with custom portals and lower pivot point? P.S. Didn't know about your channel, watching now a video by video, very useful and interesting, thanks:) Quote
Saberwing40k Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 A long time ago, I found a post on the internet about how various kinds of tank drive systems work: http://www.gizmology.net/tracked.htm I just thought it would be good to have here. Also, vid of one of the types. Quote

Kaanere Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 All this excitement for the new helicopter made me remember my 9396... ...And of course it's problems with right back landing gear. While the left one is full extended and penperdicullar to the floor, the right one is slighly angled. I think that it is because the axle that connects both wheels has twisted. Anyone with the same problem? Quote
Saberwing40k Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 This is going to keep flying back until the heat death of the universe, but I found something interesting related to flying Lego: A little quadcopter from Parrot with Lego compatible studs all over it. http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/airborne-cargo-drone/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Display&utm_campaign=2015Q4Blast_MINIDRONES_US_Display_GoogleGDN I also found this thing. apparently, it is not actually that difficult to make a Lego airframe fly if you use non Lego motors and control systems. So, do you guys think that counts, or no? I'd say it qualifies, because greater than 50% of the takeoff weight is in Lego parts. You can read more and see a video at BrickNerd: http://bricknerd.com/home/technic-quadcopter-5-2015 Quote
Kman860 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Well the debate has always been if it could be done with lego motors, so....I think that's pretty self explanatory.... Quote
Epic Technic Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Well I tried to lift some Lego with my Hubsan X4 and it sort of work. However, I am definitely not taking it apart to make a Lego frame, but if I will make my 250 sized race quad then I might try a Lego frame. Quote
Kman860 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Well lego frames are cool, but there would never be a 100% lego (including motors), plane, quadcopter, helicopter, or anything that flies. Probably Edited December 3, 2015 by Kman860 Quote
rollermonkey Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Does anyone know if the outside of the large Hailfire Droid wheels mesh with existing lego gears, or is it just the inside gear ring? Quote
Kman860 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Does anyone know if the outside of the large Hailfire Droid wheels mesh with existing lego gears, or is it just the inside gear ring? *snip* My guess would be maybe the 40(?) tooth bevel gear, but I doubt it Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 The old sampsonite gears may work, but I've not tried it. Quote
aeh5040 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Does anyone know if the outside of the large Hailfire Droid wheels mesh with existing lego gears, or is it just the inside gear ring? Just tried it, and amazingly they DO mesh almost perfectly with Samsonite gears!!! This is going to keep flying back until the heat death of the universe, but... Nooooooooooooooo! Quote
rollermonkey Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 (edited) That's awesome! I don't have either of them, but it does mean that my idea for using them in a project may actually be feasible. What size Samsonite gear did you test? (Fortunately, for what I want to do, that gear will not need to be turning an axle.) Edited December 7, 2015 by rollermonkey Quote

I tried the yellow one, but I think all kinds will work. You probably know that you can fix the gears to an axle using 2x2 round plates. It is advisable to reinforce them in this or some other way, as the plastic is very thin in the centre. Edited December 7, 2015 by aeh5040 Quote
