Jim Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Just remember that a forum is not about making lots of topics. It's about useful discussions and conversations (mostly). Keep that in mind and you'll do fine So, when are going to test or prove whether the reversed statement works as well? It's your theory after all Quote
MrNumbskull13 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Does anyone know the best place to get Lego 6L or 9L links? I want to make a 4 link rock crawler and I will need either 4 6L or 8 9L. Thanks in advance. :) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) You will get 4L ones in the quad bike from this year. Or buy some from bricklink, ebay, lego etc.... Edited November 6, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
DrJB Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I mentioned this in another thread (most likely not the 'right' place) ... so, here it is again: How about a 'dedicated/pinned' thread/index to worthy (must build, Hall-Of-Fame) MOCs? I'm thinking the following 1. Mahjqa Grudge 2. Mahjqa Ghost in a shell 3. D3K Swing Loader 4. Madoka's SUVs Mk 1 and Mk 2 5. ??? Spirographe ... The decision as to whether it qualifies to the HOF of all MOCs can be done after a poll. Such thread would make it easy to find interesting models ... as ... not sure how one would 'search' for those Edited November 6, 2013 by DrJB Quote

D3K's Swingloader Mark Two and Madoca's AWD SUVs and AWD Pickup Truck are on my `To Build' list too. Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I have a two of 4 long ones from the quad bike,if you like you can meet me in Glasgow and I will give you them....also Jenifer Clark has two listed in her bricklink shop. I have 9 long ones back up the road, but for those you would need to wait till after Christmas. Edited November 6, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

I'm just remembered the 9398 has 4 6L and that's the next set I wanna get. So, I'll have to wait a bit but everything will be fine. :) Quote

Jim Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Rebrickable is definitely a good source for great MOCs. However, a topic with a collection of great MOCs and links to topics here on Eurobricks might be nice. A better solution would be to have a section in the Index, to keep everything in one place. MrNumbskull13 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) I'm trying to wire a third party motor to half an extension cable, any one know what 2 wires in the lego cable I should wire it to? Edit: nvm, I figured it out Edited November 7, 2013 by MrNumbskull13 Quote
aol000xw Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I was wondering how does TLG numering for Technic sets work? Quote
Doc_Brown Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I was wondering how does TLG numering for Technic sets work? I wondered that too! Anyone know where to find the v-engine holder part in MLcad (Pin Connector Block 1 x 5 x 3 ), been searching for 20 mins?. :( Does it even exist? Quote
Jim Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I was wondering how does TLG numering for Technic sets work? Recently, they have started at 42000 and count their way up Quote

Philo Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Anyone know where to find the v-engine holder part in MLcad (Pin Connector Block 1 x 5 x 3 ), been searching for 20 mins?. :( Does it even exist? Sure! http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptdetail.cgi?f=parts/32333.dat - part is not yet official, but it should be so by the end of this year (it's already fully approved) Quote
D3K Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I've noticed you Philo are the modeller for several of these unofficial parts, can you tell me a little bit about the process of officializing? When I made two of my recent MOCs in MLcad, I experienced the same problem as Doc_Brown. And I was wondering why a part so commonly used, so old and so "fundamental" was not in the official parts list.. Do you know why it takes so long? Quote
Doc_Brown Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Sure! http://www.ldraw.org...parts/32333.dat - part is not yet official, but it should be so by the end of this year (it's already fully approved) Wow thank you very much, is there code I can add to the library or does one have to wait to next update or something? Cheers. I too am very interested in the process! Quote
Philo Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) There are several reasons... One (and I think it's the case of this very old part - first written 12 years ago!!!) was an administrative issue (get a proper license for the parts) that stalled the certification process for a few years and almost killed the LDraw project. Fortunately this was overcome, and things are much more "fluent" now, with 2 official parts releases per year - and pretty recent ones. For example I think that the EV3 parts I have modeled will be released by end of year. But some old parts such as this one can stay in limbo for a long time simply because nobody pulls them into the sight of reviewers and/or LDraw admin. Otherwise, to insure a good modeling quality, parts need to be reviewed OK by two different reviewers, then by LDraw admin (who keeps coherency in all this, preventing for exemple to release a part depending on an unapproved - thus unreleased - subpart). This can be a lengthy process, because we only have a handful of reviewers - Anybody's welcome BTW ;) That said, all unofficial parts can be downloaded here in one chunk (this archive is updated daily). Just do that from time to time (don't forget to keep your official library core updated too!), and you'll get all existing LDraw parts ;) Edited November 8, 2013 by Philo Quote
N-4K0 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Recently, they have started at 42000 and count their way up Do they sometimes start randomly at round numbers, like 42000, and skip numbers on the way? The Technic sets of last year (I think) were in the range of 9390 - 9398. I know other themes occupy numbers as well, but do TLG skip large groups of numbers by starting at round ones? Quote
Lego Otaku Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 afaik they were running out of unused 4 digit numbers so they started using 5 digits. They are still doing mostly chunk reserved for castle, chunk reserved for sci-fi, chunk reserved for town and city, etc. Quote
