"The Meeting"

Story: Captain Bociephus Laeten had used his initial time within the New Republic compound on Corellia to contact soldiers he had served with in the Galactic Civil War. Some were still active as peacekeepers on former Imperial worlds. Others had accepted an early retirement. Not everyone had the desire to keep on soldiering when it was no longer required. However, most of those he reached out to were receptive. Several dozen New Republic veterans would rendezvous with him, Ambassador Giles and several CorSec administrators aboard the blockade runner Radiant XI in orbit above the planet Tarsunt. Now, he was preparing to brief his new team on their assignment: disrupt Imperial Remnant logistics by destroying a supply site on the surface below.

As team members gathered aboard the ship, Laeten headed towards the briefing room. But as he was about to enter, Giles stopped him.

"Before you begin, there's something else you need to know about the mission," said Giles in a low voice. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a data disk similar to the one he had given Laeten on Corellia.

"This," he said, "is the manifest to the supply site. You'll see that there's one item that has no description."

"What's so special about it?" asked Laeten, his eyes scanning the list.

"I received a message from New Republic Intelligence on our way to Tarsunt," said Giles. "Forces belonging to Moff Pyerce have been spotted. It is believed they're transporting a holocron, using backlane shipping channels like Tarsunt to move it discreetly. The item without a description could be that holocron."

Laeten glanced up at Giles, a look of concern on his face. "This will complicate things."

"Indeed."

"Is there any idea of what's down there besides a few stormtrooper patrols?"

Giles put the data disk back into his pocket.

"We only know that the holocron is likely still at the supply site," he said. "That guarantees that Moff Pyerce's troops are there, but unaware that an attack is imminent."

"Is there anything else I need to know?" said Laeten.

Giles shrugged.

"If there was, I would share it," replied Giles. "Go and brief your team. But make this attack seem like a random event. We can't allow Moff Pyerce to know we're onto him, and we need this to be a success in front of the CorSec officials. They need to see firsthand what we can do to prevent Imperial incursions on Corellia."

Laeten gave a salute before turning towards the briefing room entrance. "Yes, sir."

Small but effective. You could use the same techniques to build something bigger. I like your usage of old and new light gray pieces to give additional texture to the scene.
