I won't have my expectations too high, but I'm expecting another brick-built stegosaurus at a smaller scale than 75936. However, a stegosaurus would receive some criticism as it would be similar to a lego ideas project..

I’m not sure what you men by “another”? Did I overlook?

Anyways, I respect your preference/expectation but let’s not forget - we do have Ankylosaurus from last year.  Thanks to its functionally swinging tail, Stegosaurus may receive some new molds, such as body (upper and lower sections), probably new legs (?), new tail with spikes and plates, etc. Of course, it cots a LOT to make new unique molds for Stegosaurus.

But I highly doubt that we will get Stegosaurus this year but it may come up an alley in a few years.

On other hand, I agree with you on brick-built Stegosaurus would receive criticism.

It was simply a typo, fixed.

Something similar to this ideas project could work.

It wouldn't, why would one dinosaur out of what, like 20, be brickbuilt?

I think he's talking about the brickbuilt T-Rex from the D2C, which is just as unlikely as that set sold very poorly.

I think the main reason was due to its proportions. The T-Rex was absurdly humongous compared to the minifigs, which were the main forte for those who bought the set. I personally own every single set for jurassic, some of them even bought multiple times, but I don’t plan to buy THAT D2C even if the minifigs are great, just give me a 250€ set with normal molded dinosaurs (uh-hem 🦕🦕🦕🦕🦕) and count on me buying 5 of those

How do you know it sold poorly? Besides s@h and LEGO stores, D2C sets are only available at selected retailers in limited numbers, so it’s impossible to tell just by checking stores and seeing if the shelves are restocked (which is an inadequate measure of success anyway) :shrug_oh_well: Unless TLG admitted that somewhere of course, which they rarely do (if ever)...

That D2C set is little absurd. Built-build T-rex looks like Godzilla to me (due to size), Jurassic Park gate is wayyyyy larger than I think. No Ford Explorer vehicle. T-rex doesnt play a role directly at the gate. So it’s ehhh for me.

The pros are mini figs for sure.

If there is another D2C set with molded dinosaurs and great mini figs, it would be bettter than T-rex rampage set.

Also, I have Dinosaur Fossils from Lego Ideas and I love them. With fossilized T-rex, it would be cool to used it at Visitor Center scene.

I enjoyed the D2C for what it was. The Tex and the Gate are not meant to be to scale with anything so the fact that they aren’t doesn’t bother me. They look good on display. The minifigs are spectacular. I don’t really see the problem. I feel like the main reason it didn’t sell very well was because everyone set themselves up for disappointment by convincing themselves it was going to be the Visitors Center from the original park. And then when it wasn’t, they wanted nothing to do with it. I really don’t think it’s a bad set at all

For me it's just good vs bad with this set. Of course I would've preferred something else but the main thing that I dislike about this set isn't it's existence but the many flaws this set has.

Good:
- Figures
- Computer stickers

Bad:
- Gate sign is too small
- T-Rex is inaccurately shaped
- T-Rex doesn't scale with anything previously released
- Gate is inaccurate because of the weirdly placed torches and the lack of the blocky stair-like look of the gate (idk how to describe it)
- T-Rex and Gate aren't in scale with each other
- T-Rex and Gate have nothing to do with each other, don't even appear in a single shot together
- Gate includes scene for a character not even included in the set
- Jurassic World logo on plaque (nitpick)

If you picked up the set and loved it that's great, I just got the 4 exclusive figures and the stickersheet and called it a day. What matters is that we're both happy with what we got in the end :shrug_oh_well:

Good (other the ones you've listed):
-Great value for a licensed set
-Creative building techniques (I took a look at the instructions)
-Great source of pieces

Bad:
I agree with the ones you have listed, but couldn't find any more.

I’m with @Balrogofmorgoth: I enjoy it for what it is. The T-Rex model is nothing short of impressive and my favourite brick-built creature they’ve ever released. Of course it’s not in scale with... well, anything, but that doesn’t bother me at all. As a collector of more than 20 years now (22 to be exact), I’m kind of desensitised to scaling issues

I’m also not bothered that much by the fact that the gate and Roberta share no screentime. D2C sets quite often combine iconic things, whether it makes much sense or not. Other examples: the mash-up between scenes and characters from Ghostbusters 1+2 in the HQ, Orthanc depicting scenes from FOTR and TTW, The Upside Down containing elements from all three seasons etc.

Of course these examples are MUCH more subtle than the JP set, but it’s the same thought process behind it :classic:

You know what would have been awesome (although I know you're all thinking it)? A Visitor's Center!!! I can't believe Lego didn't do that! It was on Ideas, and actually received 10,000 supporters! But classic Lego stepped in and shut it down . That was probably because it had 2 velociraptors and 8 Minifigs... but the building was AMAZING!! It combined many aspects from different parts in the film, including an actually functioning spinny-room-tour-thing, a kitchen (big enough for the raptors), a security room, a gift shop, and the entryway with the Rex and Apato skeletons. I would have loved to see a set like that, and I'm sure it would have done much better than 75936. But Lego probably didn't produce it just because of the extra plastic it would cost to make the raptors. They missed their chance, to, because I don't think they're going to do any more JP sets after Dominion (maybe...?). Ultimately, that would have been cool to see though, right? :classic:

Ideas projects on existing licenses always get shot down because they may conflict with internal plans (which is also the reason I don’t get why people are still suggesting architecture sets, modular buildings or Creator Expert-style cars; they simply don’t stand a chance for that very reason!). I think now they’re even prohibited if I recall correctly

Ooo, I would love to see D2C Visitor Center with T-rex and Apatosaurus fossils!

I think we have the kitchen chase with Big One a few years ago, I beleive 2018?

Outbreak of t rex and triceratops??

I think it's a Duplo set, because the ID # is coherent with the confirmed Duplo set above it. Then again, maybe another 4+ set with Baby Trike and new molded Baby T-Rex...? That would be cool to see! Where did he get this info from, again?

Hello I am new here I have got a theory that they would release the spinosaurus as the new film was teased on Isla sorna so that means they would do a big reveal and show the spino is still alive and as this year is the 20th anniversary of jp3 and dominion was supposed to be releasing this year so I think a spino is almost fully confirmed for this year or next

It's Duplo. And you can literally see his browser in the video, not hard to see where he got this info from

Welcome to EB! It's likely that we'll get a Spinosaurus sometime soon but not because of the reason you listed as JWD will take place on the mainland, not Sorna, and the Spinosaurus from JPIII is already dead.
I also wouldn't say something is ''almost fully confirmed'' just based on a theory made without insider knowledge.

What’s wrong with promobricks?

Nothing but pancakecrocodile asked where this YouTuber got the information from, which is kinda obvious if you watch the video.
