That's one of the exceptions but the vast majority of crossover characters originate from other WB properties.

Sauron is courtesy of NewLine, the Wicked Witch, Flying Monkeys and Kraken from MGM, dinosaurs and King Kong from Universal, the skeleton army from Columbia, and Jerry Maguire (not minifigure form but would still have required licensing) from Tri-Star.

You're right about Jerry Maguire but the rest of the characters listed are all WB-owned or free to use:

- Sauron is owned by NewLine, which is a subsidiary of Warner Brothers.
- Wicked Witch and the Flying Monkeys are from Wizard of Oz, the rights to which Warner Brothers bought from MGM in the late 90's.
- The Kraken is from the 1981 film Clash of the Titans owned by MGM but the rights were later bought by Warner Brothers which is why they were able to make the 2010 remake.
- The dinosaurs were never specified to be based on Jurassic Park and could therefore be freely used.
- The license for King Kong has been moving from studio to studio for years with Universal only having the rights to Peter Jacksons 2005 movie. Warner Brothers reacquired the license pre-2014 as that's the year they announced Kong: Skull Island, TLBM wasn't released until 2017.
- The skeleton army is from Jason and the Argonauts but as the copyright hasn't been renewed for years the movie is now in the public domain.

Granted on some of those but it’s widely accepted that those dinos are from JW, especially as Lego makes them. The Kong ownership story is incredibly muddy and in this case confusing as Legendary, who split from Warner, announced that they would be making Skull Island with Universal in 2014, only to announce in 2015 that they would now be making it with Warner in order to make the Godzilla film series. It took two and a half years to make TLBM, which means there was the briefest period of crossover time, and I reckon anyone would be hard pressed to find the exact date when Kong was approved for the film. Also the only thing PD about Jason and the Argonauts is the trailer, because for whatever reason all trailers from before 1964 are PD.

Are there any DC sets planned this year?

And we have rumors / leaks for the future.

I'm curious about Flash, Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, Black Adam ^. ^

We won’t know if we have sets for half of those films until next year.

David Sandberg (director of both Shazam films) has revealed the new suits for the whole Marvel/Shazam family. These would make for some fantastic figures for sure! :excited:

Very interesting that Grace Fulton is also playing Superhero Mary now. These costumes look amazing and it'd be a huge missed opportunity if we don't get Shazam 2 sets.

<SHAZAM>

So let's go left to right here; Henry Turner/Peter Parker head, MJ head, Kaz/Draco head, either 2019 Shazam or Joey head, Black Widow head and Sinjin Prescott/Bernie the cabbie head

The Shazam Family would be so easy for them to make as well.

Yes I noticed that. I did think it was strange how they didn’t use her to represent the “adult” version of her in the first film.

If we don’t get sets I’d love unofficial comic tie ins. Preferably with no Bats involved. I just hope next year surprises me

Watch us get 6 sets each with Batman, Robin, a random villain (all reused) and 1 Shazam family member

For me, that would be best case scenario :head_back:

Right? One new character? You’re getting ahead of yourself :pir-grin:

I still would throw money at a gigantic set just for a batgirl of burnside figure

Had they done a better job with batgirl's rebirth outfit's mask, I may have bought it

Truly none of the Batgirl figures satisfied me on their own

2014- good torso but desperately needed leg printing. Face didn’t age well

TLBM - perfect if inaccurate it had great attention to detail but reflected no depiction of Barbara

2019/2020 - Needs leg printing, overused hairpiece that is not accurate to the texture or hair design of her conic depiction, lacking detail and cheap looking.

Combining elements of the first two make a good figure but on their own they are underwhelming each time.

Tlbm partly reflected burnside, with the boots

Anyways yeah, I combined the original black cowl with the tlbm figure, added a black cape on top of the yellow cape and boom- batgirl of burnside figure

On a random side note, I also made a question figure recently using simon masrani's body from jurrasic world and the purple fedora from the vidiyo cmf, although vidiyo isn't sold in asia

Also the fact that you’d expect more than 1 aet in general is generous. In seriousness though I desperately need the next year to be good i’m sick of this theme underwhelming. Even if it was technically a seperate line, 2017 and 2018 showed us that Lego DC can be more than just Batman lets hope we have some surprises around the corner.

yes I too combined these elements to make a purist Batgirl but that doesn’t take away that none of the figures were satisfying as they released. I’m personally hoping we eventually get dual molded black and gold or black and yellow boots accompanying either a revision of the New 52 design or her classic depiction. She’s one of those characters that desperately need leg printing and only got it once. Plain legs don’t work for Barabara. On that note even Batwoman should have had leg printing.

"Expect" is the wrong word here as I was just joking around. What I'm really expecting is to get nothing for Shazam! Fury of the Gods whatsoever.

True as this may be I can still hope for it someday. I mean I don’t know imagine this theme doing a 360 and increasing the content it releases and improving the quality of the builds and figures. One could dream…

Truly I’m crossing my finger for Black Adam to at least appear in a set, if we got any member of the family I can envision it being Mary Marvel. I’d love comic tie ins, the costumes are practically the same in the movies and the comics so it wouldn’t make much difference. But at least Black Adam…

Guyon actually said 6 Shazam family minifigures split across 6 Batman sets but you’re probably right, they’ll only make one new one :head_back:

I think a comic Flash set would go down well as I think he’s second most popular DC character after Batman.

Couldn't really see Flash being more popular than Superman and Wonder Woman, so I'd call him fourth. However unlike the other two, Flash has a better known Rogues gallery (pun intended).
