I still would throw money at a gigantic set just for a batgirl of burnside figure

Had they done a better job with batgirl's rebirth outfit's mask, I may have bought it

Ooooo I agree with your first statement. A Batgirl of Burnside minifig would be great!

I ended up getting the recent 4+ Batman set for the Batgirl Rebirth minifig and to better modify my Iron Man’s Model A from the armory set. The Batgirl Rebirth minifig didn’t disappoint. I think it’s a great minifig.

Truly none of the Batgirl figures satisfied me on their own

2014- good torso but desperately needed leg printing. Face didn’t age well

TLBM - perfect if inaccurate it had great attention to detail but reflected no depiction of Barbara

2019/2020 - Needs leg printing, overused hairpiece that is not accurate to the texture or hair design of her conic depiction, lacking detail and cheap looking.

These are very accurate analyses. The 2014 Batgirl face is horrid.

I am aware and I have consumed some of the quite good - and in a few cases incredibly good stuff. But superhero genre just aint for me. The message of mostly overpowered men fighting against weird villains instead of actually fighting against an oppressive system or creating alternatives isn't my cup of tea.

...what? Superheroes fight "oppressive systems" all the time in comics. Off the top of my head, half the main heroes of both major comic companies have fought some form of nazis (though admittedly that was during ww2 and I think the only heroes that fought the nazis in the current canons are captain america, wonder woman, and wolverine due to their lifespans/when they became active), one of batman's new biggest villains is a secret society that controls the city, there's the injustice games where superman creates an oppressive system and batman has to stop it, there's red son, etc. Captain america fought isis in an mcu tie in comic, most of the marvel characters fight oppressive organizations like hydra, governments like latveria, or companies like aim. There are so many examples.

Guyon actually said 6 Shazam family minifigures split across 6 Batman sets but you’re probably right, they’ll only make one new one :head_back:

I think a comic Flash set would go down well as I think he’s second most popular DC character after Batman.

I think after batman superman and wonder woman are roughly tied, with flash somewhat behind them, then the rest of the main justice league like green lantern, cyborg, aquaman, etc. I know as a kid the only characters where I knew multiple villains for with respect to dc were batman and superman. (I think I knew one each for flash, wonder woman, green lantern, etc)

While I don't hate the new suits, I much preferred the ones from the last movie for some reason.

Maybe the goofiness.

Same for me.

I really like the new ones, and I understand why everyone thinks they are a huge upgrade - but I loved how goofy and colorful the ones from the 1st movie were. But I'll judge them properly when we see them in motion.

Well, looks like we finally got an answer from the Super Heroes design team about why DC was so light on sets compared to Marvel this year thanks to Brick Fanatics getting the chance to ask them questions. And their answer is pretty much what we all assumed it would be: the movies.

Thanks for sharing that @TheBatstan. So as long as there are DC movies being made, we will get sets.

2021 DC Movies:

  1. The Suicide Squad - 30th July

2022 DC Movies:

  1. The Batman - 4th March
  2. DC Super Pets - 22nd May
  3. Black Adam - 29th July
  4. The Flash - 4th November
  5. Aquaman 2 - 16th December

2023 DC Movies:

  1. Shazam 2 - 2nd June

Unconfirmed Releases:

  1. Batgirl - 2022/2023?
  2. Green Lantern - 2023?

Apparently Aquaman could end up switching to a 2023 date. There are also reports despite HBO making a Green Lantern series, Warner Bros still want to get a Green Lantern film on the big screen by the end of 2023. It’s unlikely that will happen but who knows.

We’ll have to hold them to that then!

So they base the comic releases around the movie releases as well!

So next year should be massive for DC!

FYI King Wong on instagram placed an image of polka dot man!

Considering it takes a long time to make animated movies it's highly likely that the deal for that cameo was already finalised by the time Disney bought Lucasfilm.

Sorry for quoting an old post, and sorry if this had been said already and I somehow missed it.

But I'd heard that the original plan for the Lego Movie has to have R2-D2 as one one of the main cast alongside Batman, Wyldstyle, Emmet and e.t.c but that his role was removed and replaced with the smaller star wars cameo.

Edit - Yeah here's a source for my claim - https://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/nov/19/star-wars-r2-d2-lego-movie

That gives me hope that they'll actually start making sets for ALL DC movies (unless they're R rated). For example no Shazam! sets in 2019 was unacceptable.

Agree, Lego could have easily made a set.  Like I said before,  DC has the Dwayne Johnson now,  and Black Adam is overdue as a minifguare.  Perfect match.

And remember

The Batman is coming!

I completely agree, my list is just of confirmed releases, the start of 2023 is 18 months away afterall.

It's already confirmed we'll have 3 sets for The Batman, but that's the only confirmed one. If we don't get sets for Black Adam I'll go do violence to Lego myself.

Movies are great and all, but I'd sure like some more comic based sets. 2015 and 2018 had some really nice ones.

It wouldn't make sense if they release 5 movies in 2022 and then only just one in 2023, so one of those 2022 movie will be pushed back to 2023 for sure

Wholeheartedly agree. There's still so much to take inspiration from, but LEGO decides to limit DC Comics set to movies...
Really don't get that, actually :hmpf_bad:

Kids don‘t care about the comics (which isn‘t surprising, given how high the threshold is to enter the hobby), so they have to rely on the movies to sell sets, even comic-based ones. No movies, no tie-in sets, simple as that

Rumour has it, Aquaman 2 could be pushed back to 2023.

I managed to finally find the Classic Batmobile and it's great! I put it next to the Batmobile that came with the cave and it's much more sleek and I love the option to remove the stud shooters on the hood. The Batman from the cave, however, is much better, with the dual molded legs rather than the printed legs.

There is literally no rumour like that. Unless you can provide a reliable source of course.

The word I was looking for at the time was speculation. A bit different I know.
