I desperately hope some non cinematic comic or cartoon inspired sets make it out this year. I’d really hate if the Batman sets were all we got. We still need so much out of this theme I hope we get some kind of curve ball. I’d love to be pleasantly surprised by at least one new hero or villain or exciting new variant by years end.

But I could definitely see these being our only standard sets with mosaics or art sets or polybags or battle packs thinning out the remaining waves. Hope I’m wrong

I would also expect some sort of sets with new bat vehicles to go with new character releases.

I also expect some sets from some of the dc movie releases this year!

After four years, I finally got a TLBM Joker Manor (used and complete with all minifigures, and instructions but no box), for a price I'd consider decent compared to what they normally go for these days.  I haven't gotten around to building it, but I'm glad to now have the only TLBM set I was missing.  It brings memories of my peak of LEGO DC collecting from 2017-2018.  The LEGO Batman Movie, which may very well be my favorite Batman movie, got me back into buying LEGO sets after taking a break for several years, and the design of the sets really stood out to me.  I truly did enjoy all those sets and both CMF series, for having a wide variety of vehicles and location builds, a ton of both secondary and obscure characters we likely never would have gotten in the main DC line, and wacky variants that I find to have a fun charm to them.   There's still a decent amount from the movie that I wish had made it into the sets (I really hope LEGO finds a way to eventually release Samurai and Gleek in some sort of Super Friends themed set in the future, as their exclusion from TLBM sets/CMF still baffles me to this day.  At least we got classic Cyborg in the DC CMF) and I am quite disappointed that the sequel was scrapped.  LEGO DC just hasn't been able to generate the same level hype for me since then aside from the 2020 CMF series, as only a couple sets and minifigures have interested me otherwise.

I know it'll never happen but I just started playing Arkham Knight for the first time and I wish they'd make the Batmobile from that game. So cool. There's some really cool MOCs out there, too. Maybe that's the only way I'll ever own it..

I am hoping that Lego will make either the Asylum or Knight Batmobile. If Asylum, then I'd of course like Batman and Joker. If Knight then I guess Batman and the Arkham Knight (with Firefly helmet and a printed red hood face underneath or something).

So could set number 76209 be DC?

I would like it to be, and I would also like it to be something minifigure scale. And awesome. I live in hope.

I hope not. If Lego follows the course they’ve followed for the past 3 years we’ll get a max of 1 new figure and they’ll have minimal printing and no new moulds, and the probability of a new concept is super low. Its almost guaranteed to be a repeat of something we’ve gotten if its for DC. They can always surprise but if they follow tradition this will be a very disappointing set. So hopefully its an X-Men or surprise comic based set with new comic based Avengers figs. Now thats something to look forward to.

A single $100 DC set in a sea of Marvel releases does not seem likely I’m afraid  And if it is, you’d better expect a buildable batarang or something like that :laugh_hard: No point in setting yourselves up for disappointment

But that's what happened this year lol. Let's hope it's DC, and something fresh! Cough Bat Train!

On the bright side the Art set is 4000 pieces plus.

The Batman sets seem to be doing well.

Time will tell.

We all do, after this year! But next year looks promising with the movies coming out

Promobricks, who revealed that this set is coming, also confirmed it's a Marvel set on literally the same page.

It's not a DC set. We know nothing about upcoming DC sets. Not even a single set number.

Huh, so the Art set, the encyclopedia, and the sets based on The Batman are definitely the only DC content in 2022, at least before June

Well that’s quite dull. Damnit Lego, show DC some love!

I'm shocked that the DC theme hasn't adopted the $10 mechs that are all over the Marvel line. You would think that would be a given. I think Batman, Cyborg, and Lex Luthor would make a decent lineup for a first wave.

It truly is weird though seeing how DC has been treated the last few years. To me, it feels like DC used to get the preferential treatment until a few years ago when it completely flipped over to Marvel. Maybe the amount of R-rated content coming from DC is scaring Lego off? I honestly assumed the Pattinson movie was R until I saw the sets for it.

The $10 mechs applied to DC came to my mind recently as well. It's a shame it's not happening because those mechs are kind of the gateway to new versions of Marvel characters for future sets (see the new Wolverine mech) which would be much appreciated in the DC line.

A Kyle Rayner Green Lantern mech would be rad, too.

Especially since the Marvel Mechs seem to be selling really well. Especially the Miles Morales one.

Imagine getting Firefly and Killer Moth mechs. One can dream.

Hehe, the good ol’ days when Marvel and DC shared the same threads  How did we survive that for as long as we did? :laugh_hard:

That was a thing? *huh*

I also find it baffling that the mechs are exclusive to Marvel  All of the previous gimmicks from Mighty Micros, constraction figures, to SDCC exclusives were always pretty evenly split between the themes…

It was, but it wasn‘t as messy as it could‘ve been  Kinda surprising in hindsight

I guess I don't follow well enough, but could it be LEGO doesn't release as much DC as Marvel since DC doesn't put out as much as Marvel. It seems Marvel content is every which way and what are people with DC talking about, one Batman movie. Which is just another in a long line of samesies...*shrug* (I know Flash and Aquaman are coming out sometime in the future also)

It's certainly possible the lack of appropriate content is holding the theme back but I think the main reason Marvel gets better treatment is because it just sells better.

I think the main issue here is that (in my opinion) WB has not been handling DC movies as well as Marvel, which leads to our sad reality of having a meager DC Lego selection that is addicted to Batman. DC has so much high-quality content and potential for the big screen (one only needs to see their animated films), so I naively hope this will change in the future.

What are the odds Klarion doesn’t release? What if he and Batman Beyond are name dropped and never followed up on? I really hope they make a new hair mold if we get him. They can always give us a flesh and blue skinned version of him if they want to make the most of the mold.

And on that note, really hope other figures that have been hinted at but never released get made. Mad Hatter and Clayface from the first Lego Batman video game, Bizarro from the micro fighters (same with Doomsday) and now the name dropped Klarion and Batman Beyond. In the years that followed many video game characters never got a figure but those 2 seem to be the only named villains from the first game to not be released as figs ( well I guess Hush as well). Bizarro and Doomsday definitely feel aggravating considering we got them as micro fighters but not actual figures.

also really hope that big fig torso mould used in the Incredibles Games for Mr Incredible gets made into an actual piece. Could be reused on so many characters but Bane and Kingpin are the most relevant that spring to mind.

Yeah, that is quite an interesting thing...

A 10€ Batman, Joker and Superman mechs would sell like hot cakes, wouldn't they?

It wouldn't really be exciting, but something is better than nothing.
