The best part about this D2C is that it has its own release window, it's release isn't dependent on the release of a movie. Same goes for the summer avengers sets. It is one of the few releases that COVID can't ruin

I've decided to run down some possible options for the Korg Minifigure appearance.

Shang-Chi: Very unlikely, but not impossible. It's not outside the realm of imagination to assume Korg could have a surprise appearance in Shang-Chi like Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok since we don't know too much about the film. Nevertheless, there's no current reason to assume he'd show up in any Shang-Chi sets.

D2C: Sets like the Helicarrier have shown Lego will include new molds and Minifigures in D2C sets, and due to the lack of Marvel D2C sets, the popularity of the superhero group, and past D2C sets being based on Avengers films, it's easy to assume he'd show up in a D2C set based off Avengers: Endgame (or alternatively Thor: Ragnarok, his only other MCU appearance).

Avengers sets: Despite the past Avengers sets being a loose adaptation of the Square Enix videogame, Minifigures like Hawkeye are comic-accurate with no connection to the game. It's possible the upcoming Avengers sets function as an amalgamation of videogame, comics, and loose MCU designs for the Minifigures. Inserting Korg wouldn't make too much sense, but certain characters showing up in unlikely scenarios isn't new for Lego.

It's a stretch but I like that we're hype in a just a piece of a minifigure. This was posted 260 days ago in the sub.

"As most of the leaks have already detailed, it's a spy movie/tournament arc. Set during the snap.

Shang- Chi grew up working for the Mandarin after having been essentially adopted by him. Fah Lo Suee, Awkwafina, is basically his sister. The three of them actually have a genuinely loving and fun family dynamic. Shang Chi thinks they are the good guys. Keeping the world in order while Mandarin seeks the Ten Rings. He's been helping Mandarin behind the scenes of the MCU since he was a kid. Mickey Rourke and Ben Kingsley have cameos related to these flashbacks.

Shang Chi was tasked with killing Trevor Slattery but couldn't do it and let him go. Trevor ended up picked up by authorities in London, which clued in M-I6 and Clive Reston.

Shang Chi is fighting in the tournament at the behest of Mandarin to win the 10 Rings. The tournament is being held by a mysterious shadow figure.

The governments/organizations of the world are desperate to get their hands on this alien tech because the snap was so devastating they need to be prepared.

Lots of cameos in the tournament, paying off other shows/movies and setting new stuff up. Baron Mordo, Batroc the Leaper, a Black Widow, Whiz Kid, White Claw, Omega Red, Spiral, and T-Ray all appear. Along with an Asgardian named Dane, and a vampire named Avok. Seems like mutants are already in existence by this film. Possibly introduced in something earlier. T-Ray gets a big showcase so he may be a major future threat in something (Deadpool 3?)

There's a really funny reoccurring bit about Clive Reston discovering more and more new kinds of powered people like Spiral and Avok.

Baron Mordo seems to be written out of Doctor Strange 2 in this movie.

Mandarin gets the 10 Rings after Shang Chi wins the tournament. He inadvertently summons Fing Fang Foom. Shang Chi, Fah Lo Suee, Mandarin and Clive Reston defeat FFF together. The. Fah Lo Suee and Shang Chi defeat Mandarin.

Film ends with an epilogue of Shang Chi in present day."

Have fun!

What's the proper way to format spoilers again? I'd like to add on :snicker:

I highly doubt Korg is showing up in a Shang Chi movie. Even if he does I doubt he’ll show up in a LEGO set, but never say never

Thanks! :classic:

I've heard many of those 4chan leaks that line up with that roster, and I don't recall any mentions of Korg. I think the Asgardian supposedly dies, but they're the only one of their kind in the tournament. A Korg cameo would bring me great joy though.

Very curious to see if the Shang Chi sets are as dragon-centric as some have been speculating. Minifigs of all the characters listed sound like they would be pretty diverse and interesting.

Yeah that stretches too far....

In that case, what other viable options remain besides D2C? Because they're rapidly getting whittled down...

Yeah, right now I will just probably wait for more information but it is still fun to speculate.

Wow, maybe I was too harsh in my disappointment with Lego Marvel recently. The way I see it, this Korg figure can only be coming in the the D2C or one of the summer sets (which is much less likely but still on the table)), unless we’re getting some unforeseen retail exclusive. I guess we just have to wait and see at this point.

This has been the most fun I've had speculating Lego Marvel sets in a long time. Thank you all for this.

I think people are missing that if this is indeed based on Ragnarok it could be a chance to get a lot of figures that fans desperately wanted such as:

  • Surtur (Likely Brick Built)
  • Odin
  • Thor (Eye patch)
  • Valkyrie (Bridge battle outfit)
  • Loki (Variant hair/crown combo)
  • Korg
  • Meik (In some form)

Etc...

If the D2C is Asgard, do you think they will do it in micro scale?

Nano/Microfig scale similar to 71043 would be the most likely with a couple of figures related to the Thor franchise (Odin, Eyepatch Thor, Korg, etc...) - if built in such a scale you could potentially throw in a brick built Surtur figure to replicate him destroying Asgard.

Either that or imagine an Asgard themed verison of 71040 Disney Castle, just with a rainbow bridge segment that keen fans could expand on.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t really see or want Asgard being made. It’s only in three(?) movies so far, and only one of those is relatively popular—Ragnorak. Given that the previous D2Cs have been based off the previous Avengers movie to come out, I would bet it’s either a UCS Benatar or a compound.

That being said, I am open to ideas, and I think an Asgard could potentially knock my socks off, but at this point I would prefer something based off of the Avengers movies—that or a giant version of Ant Man plus the hot wheels rally car case. 😅

Anything Ant Man related. Please LEGO.

It kinda seems odd that the D2C (76178) is inbetween a possible Shang Chi and The Batman set.

Other than Odin, and mind you Ragnarök doesn't have a definitive Odin. Those doesn't really give the hype compare to final battle (Endgame) character appearances and costume.

It doesn't, all 3 of those sets were supposed to come out in 1HY 2021, presumably in like May.

Whilst it probably certainly isn’t, I would love a huge Asgard display complete with rainbow bridge! However, an Endgame final battle could also be a wonderful display piece too if done right.

The way I used ‘legacy’ here means everything from the MCU pre-pandemic, both films they’ve covered before and ones they’ve missed or ignored :classic:

Got it, haha! Thanks

Man, all this talk about Korg and (the possibility of him being in) the D2C is getting me excited :excited:
I have no idea what would be most plausible for the D2C (Sanctuary, Asgard pre-Ragnarok, but I have to say, seeing that Korg headpiece has made me more interested in the minifigure.
I do agree that it should be a minigfig, not a bigfig and think he'll look quite accurate.Korg was never that big compared to Thor and the others, unlike the Kronan from TDW.

Mitch
