Here's an interesting report from TheBrickFan (haven't seen anyone else mention it):

https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-marvel-daily-bugle-76178-originally-had-list-of-60-minifigures/

Apparently at some point Lego wanted to include Deadpool, The Human Torch, Iceman, and Spider Woman. However, Marvel didn't let them. So Marvel kept us from getting our first FF figure. I am guessing they are waiting to introduce those characters with their FF movie?

Funny thing is, they still haven't acknowledged that those sets exist over on social media :laugh_hard:

Looks like New Asgard and Sanctuary II are August sets after all... Korg's headpiece has to be one of the earliest leaks we've ever gotten.

The first "ackowledgement" was actually The Daily Bugle designer in the AMA - he referred to the Guardians Ship and the Black Panther Dragon Flyer :laugh_hard:. Nice job LEGO

It's been a ridiculously ride, but it's been quite fun! Glad to have been apart of this leak season. Thanks to everyone in this thread for the hospitality!

Wow... just wow...

Final Battle:

  • US $70...
  • Germany 90 Euro
  • Norway 120 Euro (USD 146!!!)

That is just beyond ridiculous...

Yikes. That's some steep conversion.

Huh so sounds like these sets may have been designed pretty quickly, similar to the 2015 Justice League wave after BvS was delayed.

Funny how some of Lego's best superhero waves were designed the fastest.

I thought it was strange at first too, but I guess it does make some sense. Since the designers got a bit more freedom to do what they wanted in those two waves they ended up making better sets.

Love how Lego made such a big deal out of revealing them this late just so they could post them on Shop at Home with no fanfare or anything. Like, seriously, what was the point of waiting this long if there wasn't going to be a press release or a major reveal?

Man, if all these rumours about MCU Spider-Man 3 turn out to be true then it's gonna be a way worse movie than Raimi's Spider-Man 3.

Maybe so, but we might also get some of the best Spider-Man sets

I am still on the edge about whether to buy Daily Bugle or Ninjago City Gardens. It's the same price range, and I have a budget only for one of those sets. What would you suggest?

NCG have more pieces and the design is more interesting and variable, but it doesn't fit as much to my city (not without deep modding of the landscape) as Daily Bugle. DB is rather more plain, repetitive and straightforward build, but it's more suitable for the city. It has more figs and some interesting interior details that are playable (NCG has small interiors that are badly visible). What do you think? Any suggestions? :)

They are both quite excellent sets to be honest.

I guess the main variables would be: do you like Ninjago or Marvel more (and which theme do you collect more than the other)? and do you have other 2 Ninjago City expansions?

If you're looking to make a city with big modular sets, I would say the Daily Bugle. Ninjago City sets are really cool, but kind of work as their own thing, whereas the Bugle easily fits into a basic city landscape

Somehow it didn't register to me that the Iron Monger was as big as it is. It's not necessarily bad value at all, it's just that I didn't need a USD $40 price-point Iron Monger. At 70 AUD (crysad), I don't think there will ever be a sale hefty enough to warrant it, when all I truly want is Jeff Bridges' face.

The Dragon Flyer, though a totally unmemorable vehicle, makes a lovely $20 set on the other hand.

The Final Battle is definitely so much better than the original one and the USD value isn't too bad (over 100% more in dollar amount AUD, not to mention some of the EUR prices though...). My favourite things are Thanos and the van, though the van's interior is a bit sad. Not even a real chair! I'm keen to reenact the scene where they put Thanos and a Chitauri in a holding cell so that Black Panther can drink coffee through his mask and chillax for a bit.

€99,99 in the Netherlands
Also. on the Dutch S@H, at least, the release is still dated for June 1st.
I read somewhere that the august 1st release became worldwide instead of just U.S., but glad to see that's not the case :sweet:
Now let's wait for the pictures of New Asgard and Sanctuary II!

The sets also all got 360 showcase videos and I'm really glad the side of Iron Mongers helmet doesn't look as crappy as Molten Man's face

Ridiculous. I hope resalers capitalise on this stupid decision and sell it online for under Lego's price.

Ouch, that Final Battle price is absolutely ridiculous. I'm glad it's $70 in the US since that actually seems like a decent price and not as overpriced as other bigfig sets, but 90 Euro??? That's crazy. This has to be one of the worst price conversions for a LEGO set in different regions.

Looking at the HD pics, I can't see any indication the Arc Reactor of Iron Monger is a sticker, so I'm leaning towards being a printed piece. That's great!

Its actually glow in the dark, at least from what the box kinda indicates I think...

I feel the exact opposite. I was hoping for a stickered piece, as I have another use for that.

It's a printed glow in the dark piece

One thing I noticed in a YouTube review was that they said the technic pins don't line up correctly to the other city modular sets, could this actually help hint at future Marvel modulars to?.

Potentially, but LEGO also included connection pins for Obi Wan's hut that never went anywhere (this far) to the Cantina or otherwise.

Here's Mark Stafford's response on how far in advance sets are being planned out:

"We're finishing up some/a lot of 2022 at the moment. With our team some of it happens quite late as we have to wait for movies and TV shows to get to the point they can share some concept art. LEGO City and other projects who aren't partnered with outside licenses are probably finishing up 2022 completely and starting to experiment with ideas for 2023 already. But due to COVID-19 I'm not sure!

For the Superheroes team our 2023 planning consists of seeing what movies have been announced and holding our breath for cool concepts to start arriving and thinking about (and sketch building) things like the Bugle or Infinity Saga sets that we can complement them with."
