I really thought that Eternals would be a potential Oscar-contender and a hit with critics. Yet, the Marvel studios totally spoiled the bed this time.

The RT score is getting lower day by day. It means LEGO would not make more sets about the movie. Damn !

Wow it's gonna become the lowest-rated MCU movie on Rotten Tomatoes... it's such a shame because the trailers looked great and the Lego sets were phenomenal

Two points:

  • When it comes to merch, commercial success is far more important than being a critical darling  You can win over as many critics as you like, if the film bombs at the box office, merch sales will suffer. Vice versa? Just look at Bayformers
  • RT scores are overrated as indicators of Oscar-worthiness. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) was nominated for Best Picture despite having a RT score of 45% :head_back:

Joker is a comicbook movie that has 68% on RT, yet it won 2 Oscars. Just because the reviews are mixed doesn't mean it's a bad movie - it mean this was the 1st MCU movie since 2008 that actually took a risk, and gave the director nearly unlimited creative freedom (at least compared to the others).

And what do you even mean by 'LEGO would not make more sets about the movie?' They've already made 4 of them.

People still pay attention to Rotten Tomatoes? *huh*

They do. It's the most popular rating website among movie-goers.

What do the trailers looking great have to do with anything? If you think they looked great, then go see the movie for yourself and form your own opinion. A lot of people actually didn't like the trailers, or thought they were average.

The answer is simple. If it were a great movie, LEGO would make more sets about it down the line. Just like the revered Keaton Batman and Nolan The Dark Knight Trilogy, LEGO would still make sets about them even after so many years. But, would LEGO make more Eternals sets later on? Let me ask you a question first, will LEGO include the cinematic failure known as The incredible Hulk in the infinity sage line? I think we all know the answers to both questions.

Not like there's really anything else to make for it, of course one of the best waves in years is linked to what is apparently the most boring marvel movie yet

A behind the scenes photo of Spider-Man in the sanctum is released, and wow, LEGO actually did a very good job recreating that Sanctum doorframe in the set

Glad to see the leak-experts who kept saying this set was completely made-up are wrong  Can't wait for more pics of the movie so I can integrate the basement into a future Sanctum MOC

Please show once you manage, that sounds dope

Behind the scenes photo of NWH shows the Sanctum Basement design from the Sanctum set as fairly accurate.

Eternals has looked bad from the start, unsure why people thought it would be remotely good in any sense, avoiding that film. As for more sets, they pretty much have all the characters they would need. The other characters they have teased more recently seem to be either cameos, minor roles or set-up for future films.

Tbh I’ll be perfectly happy if we only get Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro, but considering that TASM is the first spiderman movie I saw in theaters, it would still be nice to finally get Lizard in lego form

For the moment Goblin is the only one that seemingly has an updated design that might interest me specifically, but that would probably be based on concept art. I'd still probably go after the others if they are well designed figures, but really need to get a glimpse of the Lego versions fairly soon to make that judgement. If the spoiler sets are not in 1HY then chances are I'll be focused more on any 2022 Legacy sets or D2C's.

Because Disney is taking the first actual MCU risk since... well, 2008. This film may be good, it may be bad, but it is not generic. It's different, and they let Chloe fully release her own vision. It has a fantastic cast, intriguing plot, and looks stunning visually.

Not even Lizard? This is the one I'm most excited for (visually).

Man, I don't even know where to start because your reply is so wrong in so many places.

First of all, LEGO doesn't need to make more Eternals sets as there's literally nothing more to do. They made all 10 Eternals, enough Deviants including the main one, a Celestial, and their vehicle. Literally nothing more to make.

Secondly, what makes you think LEGO goes back to only 'great' movies? They rarely go back to older movies at all (unless it's Star Wars). And when they do go back, they use popular movies, not great. Great is relative.

1989 Batman and TDK are bad examples. DC didn't have a movie LEGO could make sets on literally since Spring 2019, this theme is starving and they had to use older Batman movies to at least make some sets. For example next year they won't have to use older movies since there are 5 DC movies coming out.

Your 'question' also doesn't make any sense. Hulk wasn't a 'cinematic failure'. It has over 67% on RT, and sure, it was't a box office success, but neither was it a failure. The Infinity Saga sets used literally just 3 out of 23 movies, so it's not like the least popular MCU movie would be their focus anytime soon (if they even consider continuing this subtheme). Not to mention that Disney doesn't have right to the 2008 Hulk movie, meaning they probably could't make toys based on it even if they wanted to.

About Doc Ock's tentacles (potential spoilers)

Spoiler

His tentacles are red in the new image, showing that he may have absorbed the nano technology. I really hope Lego does a good job with the tentacles this time, as I've never loved any of the Lego Doc Ock's tentacles

Doc Ock is definitely the most likely villain for the 2nd wave, and I'm really interested in how they handle them too. They have a pretty unique design which is hard to transform into LEGO.

As for the colour, they would look stupid in dark grey. They'll probably just use grey, like they always do.

I'd love to get the pieces we got in the Bugle D2C, but in gunmetal gray and maybe having the studs in a golden colour.

It wont look like the new pictures, but it will look like the OG ones

I hope they use the Ninjago Possessed ghost-desturctor shrikes piece for each end of the arm. I can't think of any existing piece that could represent those 3 distinctive claws as well as this one.

On the other hand, what I hope for is that they make more sets at all...

Ahhh these will look pretty awesome on Doc Ock. They should include two of these for Doc Ock to stand up on his tentacles, and the other two can be smaller (since they are different in the movie).

Wow, those look absolutely fantastic.

I think if they ever brought back these or these pieces, then they would be good for doc ock in that they would probably be more playable and be good for display. I don’t think there’s anything like them out right now, is there?

Nope, only their hinged counterparts. Not sure why they haven‘t been used in the last 20+ years… All I remember as a kid is how hard these were to pull apart, maybe that‘s what led to their demise?
