Because Disney is taking the first actual MCU risk since... well, 2008. This film may be good, it may be bad, but it is not generic. It's different, and they let Chloe fully release her own vision. It has a fantastic cast, intriguing plot, and looks stunning visually.

I don't feel these remarks are accurate considering all the risks they have taken since 2008, the lack of marketting the characters of this film (They could easily have done a GotG approach), the history of the development of the film & the plot leak from a few months back which was confirmed as legitimate. Either way, not watching it.

About Doc Ock's tentacles (potential spoilers)

  Reveal hidden contents

His tentacles are red in the new image, showing that he may have absorbed the nano technology. I really hope Lego does a good job with the tentacles this time, as I've never loved any of the Lego Doc Ock's tentacles

Official images from the Empire Magazine and discussion on the tentacles (spoilers)

Spoiler

The red on the tips of the left claw is blood. The redish look to the tentacles is likely used in the CGI department to make it easier to determine the rotation of the tentacle, it also gives the appearance of the tentacles rusting which is emphasised by the shot we have from the back. None of the technology demonstrated here appears 'new' and while it is possible his tentacles will be upgraded later in the movie, this seems like the first encounter between Ock and Spider-man in this film. We have nothing that hints towards the technology being upgraded, if anything they look more damaged and aged than how they appeared before. I also feel aspects of these stills have been altered for spoiler purposes as in the trailer the tentacles have a 'light' yet here they do not.

Ideally Ock would look something like this

As you mentioned, playability would definitely be a factor. I'm fairly sure we'll get a version similar to how we did before, probably with a different back attachment piece as the old one used to swivel a lot.

Same. If they do it justice, this should be a great looking minifig

Spoiler

Though I do hope he has a helmet. I'm glad we'll probably get a faceprint and hairpiece included for him, but the design feels weird without the helmet.

Honestly, for Doc Ock's arms, I'm expecting them to be like the ones in this year's monster truck (https://brickset.com/sets/76174-1/Spider-Man-s-Monster-Truck-vs-Mysterio),but with ends like in this set (https://brickset.com/sets/76059-1/Spider-Man-Doc-Ock-s-Tentacle-Trap) to replicate the three-pronged claws. The aeroblades are a good solution, I'm just not sure Lego would consider them durable enough for kids, same with the build for the arms we got in the bugle.

welp after the Goblin suit was leaked today for NWH, I can't wait for his minifig.

If he includes a helmet, I wish we get two versions of him, one with the helmet and one without, or Lego can give us both a hair piece and a helmet piece

Don't really see the point to 2 figures, just a hairpiece and the Ant-Man helmet would be fine imo (I didn't like the idea either at first but looking at cm4sci's Raimi sets it actually works really well). We'd honestly be lucky to get a new faceprint to begin with, considering LEGO loves reusing faces that don't fit a character/actor.

Worst case escenario, I can see the new Doc Cock's face working for this particular version of the GG

Its cool that the Sanctum Workshop set is going to be a scene from the movie. I wonder what the bug monster will look like in the movie.

That said, I'm very iffy on the set and pretty much only bought it for the minifigs.

I still hope that monster is Scorpion or some significant character…

We don't know if that was just made up for the Lego set, if it was in the film I feel other companies would have made toys of it also.

We'll likely have something based off the concept art so we have a lot of room for errors or inaccuracies. With the amount of detail I dont think you'd do the figure justice without arm and leg printing, so hopefully they go all out on him. I'm kinda reminded of Thor from the Ragnarok sets. Hopefully his bag is a seperate piece and not printed on his chest.

Edit: Apparently the 'concept art' was done via an artist who got hands on the leak 12 hours prior to the rest of us, the artist also did a mock-up of him wearing the classic mask.

We'll probably get one version of him, likely looking similar to the concept art we've just seen. Part of me does hope we get a legacy version of him somehow though, maybe that would be possible as I doubt we'd get a helmet piece for just one set if we do get it.

It probably won't be a scene in the movie, but rather a location. Marvel just gave LEGO concept arts of the location, and they translated it into a set. It's not perfectly accurate, it's just based on that concept art.

The monster will look like nothing in the movie, because that's definitely just made-up by LEGO. Marvel didn't reveal any villains to them, so they had to improvise.

Don't.

Also, with all the secret identity and Multiversal stuff going on in this movie, how did you expect Mac Gargan (who's stuck in prison) to randomly turn into a weird monster (which doesn't even look like a scorpion) and attack Sanctum Sanctorum?

I really hope that they go all out on some of the minifigures in this wave.

Green Goblin needs leg and arm printing. Doc Ock needs leg printing and / or dual-moulding to represent his coat (which is very long). Electro doesn't need anything, same for Lizard and Sandman (as far as we know).

It would also be nice for both Spideys to get leg and arm printing. This might be our only chance to get those characters, and it would be such a shame if they looked lackluster.

I think the key ones are definitely Tobey's Spider-man, Andrew's Spider-man and Green Goblin. I feel those they will go all out on.

  • Ock I can see them getting away with just printing the coat onto the legs like with like FFH Nick Fury, Nick Fury works well as a comparsion also because he has a similar sweater style. The tentacles will help him look like a complete figure
  • Electro will probably just be a torso print unless he winds up getting a different costume later, he'll probably get a bunch of those power pieces
  • Lizard could just be a torso and leg print, the tail and head would balance things out
  • Sandman would probably be brick built as we have a lot of minifigure versions already that do the job

I hate the fact that we're talking so excitedly about those sets and minifigures, yet we don't even know if they're actually coming :cry2:

The uncertainty just hurts my soul, I need that confirmation.

I think it‘s not a matter of „if“, but rather „when“  Maybe in 1HY, 2HY, or as part of whatever the phase 4 equivalent to the Infinity Saga subtheme will be, but they will be coming at some point, almost guaranteed. TLG loves Spidey and his rogues gallery wayyyy too much to not dip into that gold mine sooner or later

Yeah, but it's still not confirmed. I can't get properly hyped for sets that just hypothetical, you know what I mean?

And man, imagine if we'd have to wait 2 years like for proper Endgame sets *huh*

Possible very light Doctor Strange spoilers:

Spoiler

Our first look at Shuma Gorath has been leaked through a ItMoM puzzle. If some random puzzle can use Shuma Gorath there's a pretty decent chance he might be the build of the set we're getting.

I feel like he's the inclusion that would make the most sense.

He's not a spoiler character, he guarantees a great build for kids, and getting another Sanctum would be kinda disappointing.

I think you're right on the money there, seems like the obvious choice to be the main build of the set.

Now the question is if we'll be lucky enough to get all 4 main characters in the set or will 1 be left out, likely either Wong or America Chavez.

I think we'll get all four, especially if you take the NWH Sanctum set and Wanda's CMF fig in mind:
1. Strange - only needs a new torso and legs, head/hair/Cloak can be reused from NWH
2. Wong - only needs a new torso and legs, head/hair can be reused from NWH
3. America Chavez - all new
4. Wanda - CMF figure with fully dark red arms, flesh hands and the hairpiece recolored to brown (going off the comic-like wrapping gift we saw months ago)
