hvader Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 If it’s compound it’s most likely MCU based. I would love the sanctum sanctorum
The_Creator Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I just want a X-Mansion based on classic style costumes (think 6866: Wolverine/Deadpool/Magneto set). Besides, if people will pay $150 for that $20 set these days why wouldn't they pay $300 for an X-Mansion with lots of same styled minifigures? I would! Then again, an MCU set would be good for my wallet since I wouldn't be inclined to purchase it.

Not only Korg isn't really a prominent character in Marvel comics, but also: a) he's more orange than grey and b) his head is round, not sharp. Again just going to offer another viewpoint here and remind everyone of last year's Avengers sets where you had minifigures based on: Square Enix (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, AIM Agents)Comic Books (Black Panther, Hawkeye, Rescue, Captain Marvel, MODOK)MCU (Red Skull, Loki, Nick Fury, Mark 2 Armor) Those sets weren't limited to basing their characters on a single source. Why should we expect this year's to be the same? 19 minutes ago, The_Creator said: I just want a X-Mansion based on classic style costumes (think 6866: Wolverine/Deadpool/Magneto set). Unfortunately I don't think the timing is quite right at the moment with the X-Men out of the spotlight. Maybe next year they can come up with something for the 30th Anniversary of the 90's Animated Series?

I wish Marvel would create an X-Men animated TV Series since it's been so long but I haven't heard any rumors of that (Wolverine and the X-Men was way too short lived). That would help garner interest, as would new live action films or TV Series. The anniversary may help, but I have a feeling we will need new popular TV or film media for an X-Mansion to be made - and that may be a couple years out, but I'd be happy to be surprised otherwise.

Loki was based on the Marvel's Avengers Game as far as I can tell he was meant to be included in the game, but cut and added into a potential DLC that may or may not be scrapped. Red Skull is actually a Comic Book redesign also Nick Fury is a repeated figure from the Far From Home sets, admittedly MCU though so you have a point with that The Mark 2 armor is generally movie inspired as far as I can tell I just think it's unlikely they would release an MCU inspired Korg in a non-MCU set 1 hour ago, The_Creator said: I agree with timing. Falcon has stated not to get hopes up for it being based on X-Men or Fantastic Four - but X-Mansion would be neat further down the line whether comic inspired or potentially movie inspired. But let's not turn this into an argument like last year because we know everyone has a different idea of what this figure is based on.
spiderfan2000 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I mostly hope it's MCU based because the only things from the comics I would be excited for at that price point would be a Baxter Building or X-Mansion, which are probably years away from being considered viable options by LEGO. I guess a Daily Bugle could work for a comic Spider-Man set, but it would need a really impressive minifigure selection for me to be excited. If it included characters such as comic versions of Shocker, Hydro Man or Molten Man, classic Electro, bigfig Rhino, Black Cat, Morbius, Tombstone, Silver Sable, Kingpin, Hammerhead, Chameleon, or the Lizard, I'd be hyped. With LEGO's current track record with Spider-Man sets though, they'd probably just include Venom, Carnage, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Sandman, Vulture, and Mysterio. Again.

Disney has been teasing an X-Men: The Animated Series reboot/revival for some time now. This would defintely be fuel for new X-Men sets.

This would defintely be fuel for new X-Men sets. Well before the pandemic there had been rumors of some of the voice actors from the 90s TV series being in talks about reprising their roles. A 30th Anniversary event would make sense for all parties. That doesn't mean anything came of it, but given the current level of contractual quiet Marvel keeps its actors under, the lack of news on that front gives it even odds. This added to other stated reasoning suggests that an X-Mansion set is at best a year away. The discussion being of anniversaries, this year is Deadpool's 30th. Make of that what you will.

As far as Marvel goes, Lego actually has produced sets based off of cartoons airing at the time, we saw this with the 2012 Ultimate Spiderman set and you could say the 2014 “comics” Avengers wave was really an Avengers Assemble wave. I guess at DC Lego ignores cartoons but over here we may actually receive a set or two. As others have said the 90’s designs are my favorite for the team. 8 hours ago, wesker said: Square Enix (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, AIM Agents)Comic Books (Black Panther, Hawkeye, Rescue, Captain Marvel, MODOK)MCU (Red Skull, Loki, Nick Fury, Mark 2 Armor) Hot take, the Square Enix wave could be considered a comic wave. Yes the video game is its own thing but the designs we got were comic accurate for most. For the MCU listed figures, consider that the cinematic universe has inspired designs for many characters. Rocket Raccoons comic designs after the GotG movie aired was made an orange jumpsuit just like the movie, whereas he usually wore brown or blue. Nick Fury was black only in the ultimate universe but has recently been depicted as black across all Marvel mediums. The argument could be made that something is simultaneously comic accurate and MCU accurate as the comics tend to mirror creative decisions made in the movies.

In the sets on The Avengers may well appear Hawkeye from the game on the Avengers and Ultron from MCU
TOTDForever Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I've always wanted a Venom minifig that was shaded like the 90's animated series version, that would be epic.
TOTDForever Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 its official....Tom Holland revealed the Spider-Man 3 title, so no more SM 3 business lol. the title is Spider-Man: Phone Home

Probably a teaser trailer? Damn! More info means more movie leaks and more lego leaks!
