Quick prediction regarding Shang Chi’s outfit...he could spend most of the film in this more plain version which comes in both sets and then his final more interesting outfit could come in the polybag as a more detailed figure just like Silver Centurian, Ravager Rocket etc.

My thoughts on the set.

Build:When compared to the rest of the Marvel and DC sets it's definitely unique and it's quality seems superior.Overall it's a great set for display.

Minifigs:That's where my issue arises. As it is typical with any Super Hero set there is a definite lack of leg printing for most characters with the only exeption being the Mandarin. The most stand out figs for me are the girl and the masked baddie with the daggers.

Overall I'd say it's a decent set with a good build and a generous amount of minifigs for a set of this size.

The death dealer has leg printing.  I actually like all the figs in this set can't wait to see better pics.

You joke about this, but watch LEGO actually make it a set...

Well this Shang Chi set looks awesome! I see a lot from Ninjago in the dragon build, but more sophisticated (don’t know how else to describe it).

But minifigs though, I don’t know about. Pic is too blurry, but it seems to me faces are reused AGAIN, and no leg prints!!! This might be just bad picture and figs are great, so I’ll reserve my judgment till better photos.

At least 2 have leg printing from what I see Wenwu and the death dealer.

Looking back at the Thor mech this year I’m annoyed at the use of the Ragnorok helmet. It’s very accurate to the gladiator scene in the movies but his comic helmet would sit over his head instead of wrapping over his face. The angel wings would stick out more to the side rather than curving up, it would be a new mold that would also have his hair draping down the side of this differently molded helmet. It’s inaccurate and it bothers me that it was paired with the Square Enix torso which is fairly comic accurate to his comic torso designs.

The combination of the MCU helmet and the Square Enix torso just produce a combination that works somewhat but feels wrong. It’s like when they gave Hawkgirl Hawkmans helmet. It was a “close enough” mold and I really wish Lego invested in new molds for this theme the way they do for new themes like Vidiyo. Some Licensed series like the Simpsons have received many specialized molds. It’d be nice if we saw more Of that here. Tired of the “close enough” approach. But I have a strong feeling a comic accurate Thor with a new helmet hair combo will appear in the CMF Series. Thor is a big character that I assume will be used in the series. If not that we’re definitely getting Fat suit Thor but my first choice is a comic accurate Thor.

Lastly Mysterio could do with leg printing to continue his suit pattern onto his legs and to print some gold or yellow boots on him. Stop skipping out on the details for this theme but giving intricacy to figures for other less popular brands.

then developed a sense of enjoyment keeping my sets in a mint and pristine condition, so I just continued. You have to resist the urge

I couldn’t have a sealed set collection even when I tried. I just open the sets after a while.

a version of the compound, which could have been used for a great template, although heavily overpriced.

*Awkwardly remembers how I bought two compounds.
Though it is a cool set when I ignore how overpriced it is.

Edit: sorry this is a reply to older stuff. I’m going to look at that Shang chi leaks now

I think the red/black outfit will be his main/final battle outfit, but I'd like us to get a red/yellow outfit similar to the spoilered image and his more retro outfit would also be nice, if the tournament aspect is also true. We are definitely getting a 'main character + Dragon' polybag, so hopefully it's a variant of Shang Chi. In addition I'd expect the smaller set to also feature Shang Chi or a variant given it'd be strange to have the main character not in that set.

Even if he doesn't appear in the sets, I hope that the MCU Fin Fang Foom actually looks like a big green humanoid dragon with horns in purple shorts.

Would be fine with them adapting the shorts into scales or simply ignoring them as some adaptations do - I just think he needs to retain the green appearance. I think they could also go down the more metallic look in order to vary it from the Dragon we saw in Thor Ragnarok and make it appear more alien/other worldly to hint at the Makluan aspect.

it still should be released before May 31st

Hopefully occurs sooner rather than later, that said if it releases May it gives us something else on the calendar that is Lego Marvel related to hype for other than just the Carnage head/bust. Any chance we get info soon? :purrr:

Who else just can't wait to see the second Shang-Chi set?

These sets seem to be a rare case in Marvel where builds are better than minfigs.

I hope it's some kind of arena with more unique villains.

Definitely with you on there! It's been a while since we've gotten more MCU sets so I'm hyped :excited:

Those sets look so good, and I definitely would want to pick those up, unless Summer Avengers sets are actually MCU Legacy sets or something similar - then I'll save my money for those.

I saved up a lot of money for Harry Potter (which was ultimately for nothing) so I'll be taking every MCU set I can get

Yeah, a lot of how I distribute my budget this year depends on Summer Avengers sets and August Harry Potter sets - but from what you've said about August wave, I'll probably end up getting just Hogsmeade, as I guess we'll just get more terrible Hogwarts sets.

Make sure everyone is saving up for next year, it's gonna be the big one. 10th Anniversary of Avengers & Lego MCU sets, Five or Six movies and at least three Disney+ series.

Not to mention Jurassic World: Dominion, which will be my primary focus for 2022.

2022 will be so big - The Batman, Dominion, (hopefully) Deathly Hallows sets, (at least) 4 MCU movies (including Love and Thunder, my most anticipated one), (hopefully) something special for Marvel's 10th anniversary, and not to mention a lot of Disney+ series, both Marvel and Star Wars.

You are going to have a very expensive few months of Lego  Plus if you are interested in Harry Potter, you have Fantastic Beasts 3 releasing in July.

Wonder if we'll get Spider-Verse 2 sets then also...

The best they would be able to do are tie-in sets like those we got for the last 3 years - crappy builds and a lot of Spider-Men.

Sony just isn't into making Lego sets, and it's not like their deal with Marvel helps either. Before someone mentions that, MCU Spidey sets are a different case.

The Batman instantly gets axed for me with such heavy competition  As for the MCU movies I'm not entirely sure which one I'm most looking forward to, I loved the first Doctor Strange and ItMoM will have my favorite character (Wanda) as well but Thor will have Gorr the God Butcher who I've always loved. Although there's also Captain Marvel at the end of the year, can't say I'm even remotely excited for that one.

If you're really quiet you might be able to hear my wallet writing down it's own orbituary for sometime next year :laugh_hard:

Really? Well for me The Batman is my most anticipated movie, probably, ever (my 2nd favourite character after Spidey).

Marvel movies are a mixed bag - Love and Thunder I'm excited for SO MUCH, In The Multiverse of Madness will definitely be really good and have amazing sets, but Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2... not even remotely excited (except for Kamala and Monica in CM2).

The "axed" part is more referring to the LEGO sets than the actual movie lol, I'll definitely go watch it

Oh well I mean at least they are affordable - 15€, 40€ and 70€ sound really good imo.

I'll probably either pickup up two smaller ones or one bigger, depending on the villains.

After seeing the Shang-Chi set that leaked, and realizing they put in the same effort as they did with the Eternals sets, I can't wait to see the No Way Home sets. Please do them justice too lego 🙏

Fingers crossed.

But I think this the case where a lot depends on Marvel itself, and how much they decide to show Lego - for example it didn't work as good for Endgame...

Personally I'm eagerly awaiting Moon Knight in lego form. But I do wonder what the chances are regarding actually getting him since Lego doesn't seem to do a whole lot for Disney+?

I somehow forgot we got new arm printing for Spiderman. Unsure if it was introduced in 2020 or 2021. Its funny because it actually is accurate to the comics and how his sleeves should look. But I’m not fond of it it looks weird to me. I love the Spiderman mini figure I got in the Venom mech set, and won’t display him with the new printing. Which is weird because I hadn’t even had an inkling that figure was “lacking” in print or inaccurate. It was my best and the new arms aren’t doing it for me.

Edit: come to think of it, his red and blue dual molded legs aren’t completely accurate either. They could add web lines to his red boots as that pattern does continue on his boots in his comic designs. I don’t think that would look bad, but the 2019 Spider seems perfect for me. I guess Spidey looks better inaccurate hehe

You're right, and to play it safe they may just make a generic action scene as a set, or if we are really lucky we could get a set that defines the movie very well. I have never been so scared and excited for a lego wave in a long time 😬
