I have an idea

Why dont thy start making cheap 20-30 hogwarts express carriages that can connect to the train. Since we only got one I think a lot of people would buy them if they come with different minifigs and maybe some changes to the design

I doubt that will be profitable for Lego. Parents buying for their kids aren't going to want to buy multiple seemingly identical carriages when they could buy a Star Wars or Marvel set that's complete, and your market is capped anyway at people who have the original train. Which won't be on sale forever. And then they release a new version of the train which no longer quite matches the carriages, and those carriages become essentially dead stock because the market for them is dry.

I can see the point yes. Still I hope they wont do rereleases and that the theme will end in short time

As long as they don't end before they release an Ernie Macmillan fig! :pir-wench:

Why?

There is probably a short 5 year window between the ages of about 8 and 13 when kids are collecting HP Lego. So really they have a constant supply of new children who like HP.

I understand that you're just trying to be positive but I think collectors (and from what I've seen, kids) have a right to be disappointed in these sets.

You said these sets matched their leaked descriptions and while that is true they don't match the mostly realistic expectations people have had about them. It's completely valid to expect the staircase tower to be vaguely circular, the same way it's valid to expect the wheels on a LEGO car to be circular. LEGO has had the ability to make circular towers for decades. Similarly it's valid for people to expect the trio included with the forbidden corridor to be wearing the clothes they wore in that scene. LEGO has almost always given us the appropriate variants of characters so there's no reason that should change here.

There is no rule that people need to own everything but these are sets people have wanted for years. If LEGO released sets that were complete throwaways like the buildable hedwig or released sets that were completely irredeemable then I don't think people would mind whatever issues they have with the sets as much. Imagination and building whatever you want has its place in LEGO but the sets exist for a reason.

You make a valid point but again, 1 grainy, dark lit, single view potato phone camera pic of a set where you cant see the interior of the set is not really a fair barometer of the sets final appearance AND most people have said/agree that the minifigs are subect to a lot of changes and are likely just used for context in this photo.  I am a little nervous too but I think that the photos indicate a nostalgic take on sets MANY people have requested and Lego is trying to deliver upon.  I totally get if that style is not everyones cup of tea but I guess I am just trying to be positive and reserve any negativity and judgement until I see a truly "final" product. To your point, there are several circular staircases in the movies (DH scene where Luna yells at Harry about the diadem), but the moving staircases which were so magical in the earlier movies were very much straight/rectangular in design.  It all depends on what the interior looks like and frankly, right now, we just dont know.

I hate that particular hair piece, so I'll be using the standard male one in tan for my Ernie custom if I need to make one. I'd rather have a new fig with a new mould for the hair, a new face print and maybe a Potter Stinks badge on the torso!

No offense to you or anyone who likes Ernie (for whatever reasons), but if Molly and Lucius don't deserve new face prints  and hair moulds, there's no chance on Earth someone like that would

If a girl can't dream, what hope has she? :pir-wench:

Still, there's no reason the Potter Stinks torso can't be real one day. Maybe in CMF 3.

$250 UCS forbidden forest anyone?

That is a great idea and would be a fantastic parts pack to other non HP Lego fans also:sweet:

I suspect if Lego think Deathly Hallows is too dark for sets

That is not the reason why we do not get DH sets now and is it really that much darker than any other movies/books :sceptic:

The same reason they do not make carriages period any more, they do not sell as well as a similar sized set of fire-truck etc having that spot on the shelf today :shrug_oh_well: Anyway in this case since it is already in a set you can just buy the parts and make more yourself

I'd rather have them as a printed 1x1 round tile, but a torso print would be fine too

Why not both?

Indeed, why not?  Not sure where to include the badges though. The licensed CMF series curse still hasn’t been broken, but I guess we’ll see next year either way, i.e. when Disney, HP, or both will get their third one. If neither will, then the curse is real after all :head_back: The other option would be a second task set where they could throw in a student as a spectator :classic:

Or a future Hogwarts expansion of the Cloisters. Could have Harry, Cedric, Ernie, Malfoy, Moody and a ferret

I think it's a mix of a lack of expected Deathly Hallows set and the quality of the builds (albeit preliminary) being lower than we're used to. The August wave being very disappointing as well (going off the limited info/warnings me and Falconfan have been able to share) certainly doesn't help the June wave either.

Oh no.

I suppose this could mean two things - either the quality of the sets themselves is not good, or that the choices for the sets are not good.

I suppose (although I might be wrong) that your source provided you just the descriptions of the sets - that would mean that the latter option is much more likely, and that is much worse (failing at choosing the sets).

Putting Hagrid in a set for the sake of it

It's not for the sake of it :snicker:

It's because Hagrid is present in some scene that, who knows, maybe Lego would product in the future. Obviously, a Hagrid's Hut seems to be difficult to remake without its owner ; the same, I think, for a hypothetical Detention in Forbidden Forest set or a 7 Potters scene, that I imagine would end in Harry+Hagrid. Furthermore Hagrid is an appreciate charachter (at least kids I know appreciate him) and he's so iconical.

Of course, I understand why you and others don't want Hagrid (me too, by the way). If Lego asked me to choose between the same old Hagrid or Angelina (or Katie or Ernie MacMillan), as an example, I would immediately pick the second.

But August sets is it said that will disappoint a lot of us .

So more Hagrid and his pink umbrella for us! :iamded_lol:

I'm continuing to think the August sets are more anniversary sets based on the vague statements that have been given.  If that is the case, I wonder what other golden figures we could get.  Dumbledore, Draco, Hagrid, Snape (bonus points if he gets a glow in the dark head), and perhaps McGonagall seem like the most obvious choices.  Also if the set selection is more disappointing than the June one as Guyon seemed to imply, than that would continue to make me think more remake sets are imminent (most likely Hogwarts Express and/or Quidditch Match.  If the Accessory Pack is Quidditch themed as some seemed to speculate, than it could tie into the release of a Quidditch Match remake, seeing as the 2018 one looks to have been sold out on LEGO's website for a while now.

As a note, I wonder if we'll get a standard (non-Tom Riddle) Lord Voldemort in the August wave, as it seems odd if the gold one is the only one we get this year, considering his last appearance in the Rise of Voldemort set was in 2019, and also seems to be out of stock.  I'm not sure what set he could come in though, assuming we're not getting anything from DH.  Maybe a set of his duel with Dumbledore?  If it only included a miniscule part of the Ministry, and had no other minifigures except Voldemort, Dumbledore, Harry, and a gold minifigure, I could see people being disappointed by it.

That’s the thing that still confuses me the most  If that wave is also anniversary-themed, what’s the point of releasing two separate waves? We’re getting 8 regular sets in total (i.e. without the AC and the D2C set), which could easily have been released as one big wave, as is the case for a lot of themes.

And releasing “regular” PS/CoS sets would be equally nonsensical because there’s no reason to give one wave the anniversary treatment and not the other, when both are based on the same movies

Something tells me these sets are more experimental, like the Moments sets, but with a wider price range :shrug_confused:

I know I'm in the minority here, but I honestly wouldn't mind another Quidditch match. It would give us another set of hoops as well as a chance to get minifigures of some of the other players that we don't have yet. I'd love to finally get Angelina or Katie.

edit: or Lee Jordan! Now that would be one cool looking figure if they do it right.

Yeah I am almost sure this will happen. Because to be honest after june wave I would be happy with any sets which are not remakes or brickbuilds. But with what was said here we are going to be disappointed with august wave if we dont like june one.

Good question.  Probably the closest comparison is how 2019 had a June wave with POA and GOF sets, but then there was an August wave consisting of another two GOF sets.  Those could have even more easily been all put into a single wave, but they split it into two for no apparent reason.

If they did another Quidditch Match set, I would really hope for it to be from POA, even if only for another source of Hufflepuff Quidditch uniforms.  Plus a goggled Quidditch Harry with white mid legs would be very useful, considering the only source of white mid legs currently seems to be the Stranger Things D2C, which makes creating custom 3rd/4th year Quidditch players a huge pain.  Also the stands were notably different in that movie.  If they included a Dementor or two, that would also be great, as I can always use more of those.

Mmm... not impossible, I think, cause 75956_Quidditch Match is retired, but I'm not sure I will appreciate this.

I've already bought two 75956_Quidditch match (sort of tradition in my family, considering that in the past I and my brother asked for Christmas two of 4726_Quidditch Practice ) and I'm projecting simple stands for creating a little Quidditch pitch on my own. And I think it's difficult to make something really different from the old set: goal posts and towers.

Of course, Angelina and Jordan could be a very good charachter selection... but I fear we could have instead Harry, Malfoy, Hermione and Dobby *huh*, plus Madame Hooch and Lockhart.

Given the current state of the world due to Covid I think is a big part of the summer releases coming in two separate waves.  There have been factory shutdowns,  shipping delays, countrywide lock downs, etc.  Lego can't keep high demand sets in stock.  Let's face it, Harry Potter is definitely a big seller for them.  It's easier to produce a lot of half the wave of sets & get them out there. Then they can retool the factories to produce a lot of the second half of the wave and get them out.  I'd rather be able to get a few sets one release & then get more at a later date due to a staggered release.  Would save me from having to try to decide which ones might sell out first to figure which ones to buy first.  Plus if these anniversary sets with their experimental style end up totally bombing Lego can reduce production on the rest of the wave to cut their losses like what they did with the final Hidden Side wave.

Maybe, but the patterns seem pretty arbitrary. Star Wars, Minecraft, Marvel and Ninjago all have two waves in 1HY, but in 2HY only HP and City seem to be concerned :shrug_oh_well: I’m not sure if that alone explains it
