I'm really hoping that Guyon and Falonfan are right about August being terrible. Just added up the costs of the June and August waves and it's pretty scary! :sceptic: I hope most of all for Microscale or Busts, as I saw someone else say anything more than that and i'll probably be sucked into buying. Having a new baby in between these two waves too! :iamded_lol: How easy do you think it would be to convince people to buy the "baby" LEGO for a present? :roflmao:

Really glad superhero sets have sucked lately as I used to buy a fair few of them. Also trying to wean myself of Ninjago. So I think just Harry Potter and Jurassic World for me this year.

Just out of curiosity, how much space do most people have on this forum for displaying their collections? Full rooms or just scattered spaces?

I saved up so many VIP points knowing this year would be expensive, and now I might only be buying like one or two sets lol

How many points have you accrued? I've got enough for a $150 voucher. That's the most i've ever had before.

Hardest thing lately has been trying to juggle Double Points offers, GWP and sets actually being in stock! :roflmao:

Considering the number of pieces 76393 has it is likely to be Gringotts modular! :excited:

However, it will probably contain many small pieces just like 75978 Diagon Alley.

If there is a next year... kidding. What would this thread be without your optimism?

I've got enough for $120. The hard part for me is deciding whether to buy cheaper on Bricklink or buy on SOH for the points

I feel like if we were getting Gringotts then we wouldn't have been told to lower our expectations or that no one could predict this wave, but hopefully I'm wrong!

True, but nothing else makes sense when it comes to the PPP.

Careful now! You'll have Guyon and Falconfan showing up to the get us to lower our expectations again!

Well... I didn't have my expectations too high in the first place as there are a lot of sets that I want this year!!

I only buy from LEGO Online if the set is exclusive or if there's a GWP I really want. Can't justify the increased price otherwise.

I'm just honestly baffled... I mean it's not like the LEGO designers would be specifically designing sets to be rubbish or based on things nobody wants surely? So it makes you think what it could possibly be that could be so unwanted. You'd think it would have to be something like Art, Busts or Microscale or something within that vein. But yeah, don't know.

Sorry, not adding much to the conversation here. Just feeling completely baffled.

Is it really that much cheaper? Obviously when another retailer has a blowout sale it is (Amazon in the UK have a lot of Harry Potter sets reduced by a fair chunk right now) but at normal prices it's always worth the little bit extra for the points imo.

Sometimes you can get sets on Bricklink for like 50% off

So far nobody in the know has called the sets bad. Unexpected, yes. We've been advised to lower our expectations (and they were lofty expectations) but Guyon at least seems of a mind that the sets - while perhaps not being what he would have chosen - are of good quality

Quite often Kmart here has their basic price set 15-20% below LEGO's cost. I got the Burrow for I think it was $120AUD, but on LEGO it was $150. So $30 difference. I think even on double points you'd be lucky to accrue enough for about a $15 voucher.

I've gotta be honest, I've never seen that for a new set still sealed in the box - and shipping costs are going to add to that amount too.

True about the shipping. But yes, sometimes the discounts really are that big. For instance, the Sith Tie Fighter was going for $40 not too long ago and it was an $80 set.

I don't even know what retailers sell Lego near me. There's an Entertainer in town, no idea on their prices since I haven't been inside for about five years. Other than that it's all farm shops and gun shops that sell Lego on the side, at a mark up. Supermarkets sometimes have a deal, but you can't rely on them stocking a certain set.

Sorry, might have misunderstood what I was saying. I was just saying that it makes me think it has to be something rather "different" like Art, microscale or busts, because I can't imagine them making sets that are really bad. So for it to be unexpected expectations, i'm imagining sort of "different" sets they could be rather than bad sets.

Not sure I made that much clearer! :iamded_lol:

That's another factor when buying from LEGO. My shop needs to be over $150 or I have to add shipping to it.

Where abouts are you in the UK? Small country town or something? I lived near Birmingham for a year and I still remember the most amazing Toy store in the city. Pretty sure there was a LEGO store too, but I wasn't into LEGO at that stage.

I somehow managed to miss the fact that this set even existed. Not that I'm rushing out to buy it, it's a pretty ugly looking thing without interesting minifigs - perhaps that's why it's going so cheap!

Loads of people immediately complained about the price as soon as the set was announced, so yeah haha

It's a good set, but maybe the reason it was so cheap is because that $80 for a 474 piece set is extremely overpriced.

County town, only city in the county - I'd rather not be more specific than that. Suffice to say, there's no Lego store within an hour of me, the nearest one opened since lockdown, and we didn't have a toy shop of any sort for ages. Woolworths was the hub until it closed down, and I'm fairly sure WHSmith trialled selling toys at my local branch because it was a guaranteed market.

Sorry, didn't mean to pry. Just get excited about places i've visited before!  There's over 400km of Water between me and my nearest LEGO store! :iamded_lol:
