I think it's really long overdue and it would be amazing for the Harry Potter line Thats a good idea. We also need a proper Fang. I think I'll just buy the figures... I have no interest in the sets Ive seen, except Hogsmeade

How much of the general miasma towards the June wave is because of the standards of the last few years? If it was the first wave since 2011, it would probably be better received.
joeee Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) For those who have seen the leaks: Did Hogsmeade get leaked? May I ask how many buildings it comes with? Will we have to buy multiple to make it look like a "full" Hogsmeade? Thanks in advance! Edited March 9, 2021 by joeee

You will either have a very repetitive Hogsmeade buying multiples of this set. May be good for parts for MOCs of other buildings, but yeah, multiple of the set isn't going to do much out of the box. I'll DM you the pic if you like.

It seems to be a wintry Hogsmeade, so your best bet for building the whole village is probably the winter sets modified slightly to be wizard-friendly.
lego_guyon02 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Reports now also suggest the Cursed Child movie WB is planning will end up replacing the Fantastic Beasts franchise, capping it off after the 3rd movie. I'll take this with a big grain of salt for now but this could potentially mean that whatever LEGO does next for the FB movies will likely be the last sets we get based on the property.
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Excuse me, I just threw up in my mouth a little I desperately hope that’s not true, because that would mean we wouldn’t get to see Dumbledore & Grindy’s legendary duel and would instead be greeted by mind-boggingly stupid time travel shenanigans Unless FB3 involves a ridiculous time-jump that is. In terms of LEGO, we can only hope they realise what a hot mess CC is and don’t even touch it with a ten foot pole

Cursed Child was/is hated on so much that it's pretty much been wiped from canon, that should be a major red flag for a company as big as WB. Maybe they're just tired of running DC into the ground and have decided Harry Potter is next

Perhaps they know that Fantastic Beasts isn't as good as it could be, so they're spreading fake word that Cursed Child is in the pipeline. That way when it turns out to be false, we're all relieved and eat up the bang average Fantastic Beasts movie we get instead.

Lol if FB movies didnt do well, why they are expecting Cursed Child to do any better? That book is legit trash compared with the rest of the saga. Also I was just thinking that it has been a really long time since last Lego Harry Potter video game was released and now considering how popular this theme is, do you think we will get remake similar to Lego Skywalker Saga with all movies in one game? THELEGOBATMAN Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Well there's a rumour about the Cursed Child, but teb original rumour wa that they are actually developing "sequels", nothing more. I'm pretty sure Cursed Child is just an assumption. As for Fantastic Beasts, I'm sure WB will wait to see how that movie does - if it's a success, they'll continue it. If not, then bye bye FB.
Seaber Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 This feels very much like rumours surrounding the Lord of the Rings TV series at the moment - rumour based partially on misunderstood/unclear information, but more importantly the desire for clicks from showbiz and pop culture news sites.
chris6507 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 It's funny that this is the discussion happening right now as I just finished the Harry Potter books for the first time yesterday and 3/4 of the way through Cursed Child now. But I've got to admit, i'm really enjoying it. I could see it being a great movie if some of the alternate reality scenes were fleshed out a bit more and it could definitely use a bit more action in the first 3/4. But I really don't see why everybody hates it so much? Maybe it's because i've read everyone's hate before I read it that I was just prepared in advance. But personally i'm thoroughly enjoying it. I do agree there hasn't been anything particularly outstanding in the way of potential LEGO sets ,but to be honest a lot of the sets we are hoping to be based on deathly hallows are all locations that have been seen in previous movies just with the relevant characters there at the time to reflect that movie. But one example I could imagine as a set is when they are trying to get the time turner in Hermione's office. Maybe a little desk build with an easter egg or two and then a build with a bookcase with different little trap play features and a slot to hide the kids as they are taken into the bookcase. Wouldn't be bad. And yes, I know my opinion is very unpopular, so you don't need to remind me of that. Just sharing a slightly different perspective.

Not everyone hates it, people just like saying it like its fact. I liked it but as a play. The main issue is that it should never have been released in paperback pretending to be the next book. The play though is great viewing, the magic is amazing. All the time travel stuff is great in the show, its done really well. So when people say it wouldn't do well as a movie, I'm not so sure they are right. I still would prefer new stories though.

I actually think it would be pretty neat as a movie, as long as they use the actors from the film franchise. Otherwise I have literally zero interest

Sorry for getting a bit off topic LEGO wise, but I do think it would be fun to have Cursed Child sets even if it just meant having Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermiones families in minifig form. Ohh... just thought... the fight between Harry and Draco could be a cool set. Something like the burrow (but obviously their house) with little exploding features a furniture to flick around and hang from the roof! Lol. There is potential in everything.

At least hide things like this behind a spoiler window. Not all of us have seen Cursed Child yet. My family had tickets for us to see it on Broadway before the pandemic, which obviously were cancelled. I’d like to reserve judgement for myself on the quality of the story. It’s obviously not mean to be enjoyed as a book - it’s the script to a theatrical production for God’s sake. Anyway, I know we don’t have many new LEGO leaks to discuss, but I’m sure @Clone OPatra would agree that discussing spoilers from the Cursed Child has no place - even tangentially - on the 2021 LEGO Harry Potter forum. Let’s get back on topic please.
Lion King Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Why are we talking about Cursed Child? Is that really relating to Lego?

Though the old Dobby minifigure was definitely cursed, and I suppose you could argue he was a child, from a certain point of view.

I read somewhere that they're gonna change Emma Watson if she won't agree to return to her role. I guess the same will happen to Rupert, since he decided not to be actor anymore, though I'm not sure how true is it

BrickBob Studpants Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I admit the FB and CC discussion veered too far into off-topic territory despite our attempts to connect it to potential LEGO sets Any idea what could bring us back to discussing this year‘s sets again? A new leak should do the trick, so let‘s hope something pops up next week since we’re getting very close to when the leaks properly started last year
sebastian666 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Here’s some interesting news to discuss. It’s just been leaked that the upcoming LEGO Marvel set #76191 will be a brick-built Infinity Gauntlet with all the Infinity Stones. It will be 590 pieces for $69.99. Getting similar items for LEGO Harry Potter would be disappointing and require some severely lowered expectations for me, per @Guyon2002’s hints. If this is the case, what brick-built items (not creatures) do you think we could get? I think some serious contenders could be the Sword of Gryffindor, the Horcruxes, the Elder Wand (maybe a whole series of Wizarding World wands), or even (gag) the Sorting Hat 💩.
Yope Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 The 2021 anniversary sets we are aware of are based on films 1, 2 and 3 and sets that were released alongside these films (Hogwarts Castle, Chamber of secrets (inc Myrtle's bathroom), Fluffy's corridor, Slytherin common room, Shrieking shack - Honeydukes at least). Obviously the anniversary sets aren't based solely on the first ever wave so, assuming that the August wave picks up from here and consists of remakes of sets based on later films, I was wondering what we might be able to expect. - GoF: Durmstrang ship and second task are the only obvious ones here unless we got another Hungarian Horntail. - OotP: Only one set to consider, a trophy room would be unlikely although I could see an Umbridge's Office in a similar style to the girl's bathroom set. - HBP: Burrow and Diagon Alley were the only HBP sets so unlikely to get anything here except possible a Borgin and Burke's. - DH: Potential for a remake of the (imo underwhelming) DH battle set 4867. Given the hints we've been kindly given I suspect that whilst more anniversary sets are on the cards (our expectations are to be linked to the June wave and we'd surely get a gold Dumbledore if we're getting a gold Voldemort), the possible sets I've mentioned above seem a bit too "good to be true" and I feel like we're maybe more likely to get non-minifig scale sets instead.
