I mean they just did CoS, Great Hall, Great Tower (or whatever part is that) in one set with like 1200 pcs so why they wouldnt be able to make set with just one Bell Tower, small part of long gallery section and Chamber of Secrets as interior part... nothing crazy there rly.

But when the assumptions were that it was going to all be in keeping with the 2018-20 style, it is crazy. The June wave is a more simplistic Anniversary style, not the previous style which would have been more parts. In any case, why would the Chamber of Secrets be the interior of the Long Gallery? That would be something separate surely.

And for the Chamber of Secrets... why has it to be big and on it own?

It doesn't have to be on its own, but it's the location of two of the most important scenes in the entire series, and has a very distinct and unique look to it. It's only natural that it would take up more pieces than a generic room.

Those things behind the scenes is what interests me but as you said, it is just how it is. I certaintly cannot hide that I am very hungry for more info about remaining unknown sets :D

Why not?

If Lego had wanted to complete Hogwarts exterior appearence with Long Gallery and Bell Tower(s)... Not sure on this.

If Lego had wanted to create an important setting like Chambers of secrets... And they wanted, cause they did it.

If Lego had wanted to give fans not only Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dorms (or, if you prefer, beds) but also Slytherin and Hufflepuff beds.

Why not putting them all together?

On the other hand, Lego didn't put basilisk into the Great Hall?

Of course, maybe it would have been better to put Library into the Long Gallery, or something else... but Chamber of Secrets into the Long Gallery... not something so absurd for me.

If you think about it, we all had a clear idea on what Lego would have done this year and the next one (oh, well, not all the same idea): Deathly Hallows scenes, Gringott, Hogsmeade, Durmstrang Ship, Tent... and here we are with something that suprised everyone and disappoint some... and fearing that we'll be more suprised and maybe disappointed by August wave. Cause we tought to know what Lego has in mind, what was Lego plan, but we didn't.

That's why we won't see Chamber of Secrets in the Long Gallery (and maybe we won't see the Long Gallery or Bell Tower(s) at all), but it would have been possible to see it.

The key thing for me is that the Chamber of Secrets is a very important location which, canonically, is underneath the school. It makes them more money to split the Long Gallery and the Chamber up (and I know there's no Long Gallery/Bell Towers confirmed yet, but the theme hasn't ended yet - that could be next year's sets), and on top of that, any display of all of Hogwarts would look weird if the Chamber of Secrets is sitting pretty between the entrance to the school and the Great Hall. I know that the Lego modular Hogwarts is not 100% screen accurate in terms of rooms' locations, but it's not that egregious.

Don’t get me wrong but I have no idea eeverything about Bell Tower. I mean I certainly can’t remember seeing it in movie scenes? And is it really recognizable like Clock Tower, Owl Tower, Astronomy Tower, Gryffindor Tower, Great Hall, Coutyard, Bridge, and Boathouse throughout movies?

I they’re at the very end of Hogwarts near the Greenhouses. I don’t think any major actions/scenes happen in them during the films but you can see them in the wide/overhead shots of the castle.

Are the astronomy tower and Gryffindor tower really all that recognisable - as towers themselves rather than the interior locations.

Well it definetely is not less recognizable than those which you mentioned :D Idk why I cant upload images to this thread but at least in first 3 movies Bell Towers have some screen time.

I readily admit it wont happpen, but the 1 set would be a street level building. Easily can be added at the end of the current DA set.  The second set would be carts/rails, vaults, dragon and an atrium type area where the dragon is kept chained up.  This would be a LONG set that ran the length of both the DA set AND the new Gringotts building. It makes both new sets standalone if desired but allows for greater world building and enhancemment to the DA set as well.

They could just make the rails and vault separate, sort of as an updated version of what they did in 2002's 4714. Give us a decent building and have a few extra add ons for the other locations. Personally I'm hoping we eventually get Bellatrix' vault as a separate set that way. I don't need to waste parts putting it under the bank.

I think my favourite thing about these sets were the little nooks and crannies with hidden keys, books, and other things. I liked how the sets were filled with loads of magical items and special printed pieces. I had a little fold-out poster of the diagram showing how all the sets should be stacked and would always look at it, wishing I had enough of the sets to be able to stack them. There's something about modulars I really like. It's like stacking bricks, but the bricks are made up of smaller bricks

I loved all the weird little nooks and bits and bobs chock full of "make up your own story". It wouldn't take a lot of pieces to do that to the current sets, so I wish they'd go back to including those. A hinge here and there, maybe a rotating panel... And all the little spell tiles and books and such really made it special. We used to chuck the printed 1x2's at each other, "Serpentsortia!" "I cast Protego!"

It seems to be a wintry Hogsmeade, so your best bet for building the whole village is probably the winter sets modified slightly to be wizard-friendly.

Hogsmeade is supposed to be above the frost line and permanently snowy. (Mind, how it gets that way when Hogwarts is so close and clearly isn't... :shrug_oh_well: Magic!)

I remember a possibly apocryphal story from the early years of Potter merchandise where they (not LEGO, a different toy company) had to recall a line of Nimbus 2000 brooms with a vibrating function, because of complaints from parents whose kids were running round the house with a vibrating stick between their legs :pir_laugh2:

With the abundance of adult fans, as a product idea that might go over a bit better now. :pir-huzzah2:

Gryffindor Tower is obviously recognizable becuase it consists Gryffindor common room and dorms. And Astroy Tower is fairly known for some certain scenes in HBP only ( I can’t remember it’s seen in DH1&2 tho).

Gotcha! I just can’t remember seeing that Bell Tower in the first movies ms. I guess it’s time for Harry Potter marathon then! Uncle ou can send me a link via PM, that would be great.

The ability to change a product to your liking doesn't excuse poor design.

Swapping roof colours doesnt fix their weak and inaccurate build design...

Are they not anniversary sets, based on the ones produced 20 years ago? The intended effect would surely be nostalgia, not compliance with the more vocal fans’ aesthetic demands. Weak, poor, and inaccurate are all subjective terms, and being a fan of the product doesn’t automatically entitle you to be arbiters of a well designed set. We all know that there are creative, financial, and executive constraints on all sets. There was a project goal - anniversary sets to commemorate 20 years of Lego Harry Potter - and the path to that goal would have been very carefully mapped out. If anyone involved had concerns, they would have been addressed. How privileged it is to be upset that your favourite theme isn’t meeting your specific demands. It’s like the extreme level of hype that went on yesterday over the name of a Marvel set. I’m sure that the A stands for Adult, but it certainly doesn’t seem like it at times.

I stopped my last rewatch after OotP so I'll concede the Astronomy Tower to you, but I don't think the exterior of Gryffindor tower is noteworthy. It's the interior that's where all the magic happens.

I have a list of new predictions:

76391 - Motorized Hogwarts Express & Train Station (similar to 71044), approximately 2,000 pieces

76392 - 5th addition to the "Hogwarts buildings" series? (Previous sets were 75953, 75954, 75948, 75971)

76393 - Gringotts modular, compatible with 75978 Diagon Alley

76394 - Buildable Pigwidgeon??? (similar to 75979) It is the only thing that makes sense considering the piece count and the price...

76395 - Flying Ford Anglia???

What's the point of making Lego sets if you an just build your own set then?

Not everyone likes to modify official Lego products, as by that they become unofficial, they become your own.

Again this is subjective stuff. One of the big selling points of Lego is that the customer can adapt the set if it doesn’t please them.
Changing sets happens all the time, whether someone has an eye for detail, needs the set to fit in a particular space, wants to create a bigger scene, wants to make it their own, or has kids who like using their imagination. You’ve got a product designed to not be restrained by its very design, and they openly welcome MOCs. They have a way of doing things, hence the Ideas projects never look like the submissions.
By making it “unofficial” you are making it yours, and unless you physically discard the parts you change then you haven’t devalued it. I just don’t get this. The whole point of Lego is that they create a set that they think people will like, but can change if they want to. Perhaps I’m missing something.

You need to embed an image hosted externally, the upload function is only for profile pictures.

This is a forum for discussing Lego sets. Without critique, there's no discussion. I assure you, no one is losing sleep over disappointing set designs.

No, the point of making a Lego set is to give you a good Lego set.

Of course you can change it to your liking, but how is that what Lego intends you to do? If they did, they'd just release sets as "brick packs", which have necessary elements to let you build a certain building yourself.

Exactly. You're not just paying for the bricks, you're buying the design. If we could all design as well as Marcos Bessa that would be a different story, but most of us can't.

@Textorix when you make a comment, at the bottom is a blue bar that permits you to "drag files here". In the same field there's a grey drop down menu "Insert other media". Select one and voila...

For example here our @Whovastron's Bell Towers.

Edit: I don't really feel the need for the Bell Towers or miss them in my Hogwarts display, but if Lego released a set like this, I would definitely be all over it.

Are you selecting "insert existing attachment" or "insert image from URL"? You want to be doing the second one, as that allows you to embed any image online.

Now I am really jealous at Lego Marvel fans for info they got. I would explode in happiness if we got an equivalent of Endgame final battle set in Lego Harry Potter as Deathly Hallows final battle set.

Never say never.

(Well, you can say 'never' when Lego stop producing Harry Potter sets.)

I was doing it the first way because I dont have URL for those images, I have just saved them in my computer.
