YetiZombie Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Not sure if we knew this already, but Panda Minifigs said in the comments of his video that the golden minifigures will likely also come with golden wands. He also said he's going to post a video showing off one of the "golden" trio soon :)

(Insert Name Here) Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I was just rewatching Philosopher's Stone and now I'm really wanting a minifig of Harry in his red sweater with a couple of scratches from the trapdoor to showdown with Quirell & Voldemort. It's such an iconic look, who else is with me.

Maybe if the Fluffy set has the trio in uniform from earlier in the film there will be another set in August featuring the later Philosopher’s Stone challenges with the trio in their civilian outfits and maybe even battle-damage? I honestly can’t see us getting a golden Quirrell without a regular figure somewhere in the Anniversary mini-theme

That's like removing Darth Vader from the Bespin Duel set. Has a minifigure list not been leaked yet? Edited March 18, 2021 by Ringwraith
Papa2308 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Someone mentioned that the box images had been leaked for the new sets Where abouts are these?

Agree! (And very funny explanations, by the way! ) Flitwick minifig is very cool, but the students choice... could have been better. Considering I don't like Cho's skin tone (I mean, her minifig's skin tone, not the character's one, of course...), I have actually decided that this minifig is not Cho, but Padma Patil. (Why? Well, why not! ). I am still waiting for my other Moments sets to arrive, but from the pictures I must confess that Hufflepuff/Herbology set is also candidate to be my favourite one. I will know for sure when I build them all, but it simply looks so nice with all the plants around; also the stickers seem funnier.

Yeah, I got several Cho's from the original CMF and just replaced a head with a Rose Tico head, it now is so instantly recognizable as Cho. The Cho in the student accessory pack is now my Padma too! Even the hair is more accurate.

I could create not only Padma, but even Parvati, their mom, aunts and grandmas!

OrderOfTheBrick Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Golden dumbledore is posted on instagram. But looks fake, I think it's just the hogwarts architect from the Advent calendar with hair from another golden minifig. By the way, don't expect an announcement from Lego tomorrow in the Q&A, according to Promobricks 10283 space shuttle will be announced tomorrow. So there's no way they're announcing anything else then.

Last year the Crocodile and the Mickey and Minnie are announced on the same day. The Harry Potter sets don't have the same target audience as the space shuttle as well.

It makes sense not to overlap the announcements of new themes, so that nothing distracts from them. However, for individual sets or waves of already firmly established themes, there shouldn’t be any major issues

I don’t think I should like a set for its stickers, but hang it I do. I love that arch, and all the bottles... To me, it’s the set that feels the most like the classroom it depicts. I also like the call back to the old sets with the random hidden Philosopher’s Stone. They used to stash things in the builds and I feel it encouraged creative play. The empty, relatively undefined space on the left half and lacklustre new Snape are minor detractions. 2nd place - Charms, again because of the stickers. I love the way they modified the set to include the names of spells instead of students. Such a clever idea, capturing the atmosphere while honouring the story. 3rd Transfig, 4th Herbology, probably because it feels least like the classroom to me and the lack of Hufflepuff jumper. (‘Puffs never get enough love.) Thanks, @Prometheus87, for taking the time to share your insights to the summer’s anniversary line in such a differentiated fashion. (And to be fair, @MaxHeadroom pretty much encouraged the “essay”. ) @P87 I have to agree with almost everything you wrote. Something about the 2018+ series just clicks. (The joy, she is well and truly sparked.) I live for detail, and it feels like people who actually like the source material had a hand in the sets’ creation (or are just that good at their jobs; both work for me). I’m not as negative about the boxy design of the new sets, however. Builds like that aren’t as pretty from the outside as the 2018 line, but a lot of these sets live for the interiors. It’s a compromise of price / detail / accuracy. (Size of said box will end up being crucial though.) I’m absolutely forgiving lego for only including one toilet, however, and I say that as a person who’s improbably hoping for two lavatory sets before the series ends (I’d also quite like to see the 1st year / troll scene rereleased). Marketing the first. Expanding target audiences? Definitely. One of the things I really like about the series is I feel it makes an effort to also speak to the female half of the population without talking down to us, if that makes sense? (Friends line, *cough cough*. That’s completely subjective, obvs, mileage varies.) The inclusion of a party buffet table fits with the HBP story & movies, has a relatively low piece cost and isn’t excessive “wastage” in the final count if people wish to leave it out. (Although the Yule Ball in the CT may have taken that a step too far , but different strokes...) The series is still “blokey” enough (two Ford Anglias already), yet another train, but the overall ratio has improved (as if the literal seconds of screen time somehow justified the Durmstrang ship... ). Marketing the second... “Attention to detail is lost”... Can we say this of a certainty? (Serious question.) Have we seen the interiors of the CoS etc? (I’m not on IG and sometimes miss things.) Marketing the third... “Here is where Lego is dropping the ball on the marketing of this new design, and begs the question "why?".” To be fair, they really haven’t started the marketing yet. We’re rat bastards who feel the need to look at leaked, still quite raw material. They may yet come up with something brilliant. (fingers crossed) I’m curious to see what tomorrow’s live stream will bring. “if you could design one lego HP set, what would you want to design?” I’m not sure if it counts, but I’d love to take a crack at updating the video game (a small enough footprint to make it playable on the average tablet would be my starting point, 2018 style the very next must). I’m rather fond of the youtube videos they make to accompany the sets. Something more in that visual style would be lovely. If that doesn’t count, then a Moments set. The challenge to find the right balance in desirability of the scene, piece count, visuals (the sticker trade off...), and physical set size / volume (love that artificial boundary) make it especially appealing. Whinging about colour choices notwithstanding, I have a lot of respect for their design team.
Xcube Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 When Fan media could talked today with the Star Wars designers it could be really possible that something will be shown in the stream.
1234567892022 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Why would they do a random broadcast though? Especially this close to new sets being released and all the leaks that have happened.
YetiZombie Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Panda Minifigs just posted his YouTube video showing off the Quirrell and Madame Hooch minifigs!

Not wanting to spit in the face of new leaks - but how does that not run really afoul of Lego's policies? If he's actually got the physical minifigures to hand, that's a bit of a bigger deal than someone saying what the sets are going to be or maybe sharing a low-quality photo. I'd have thought they'd have been trying to prevent that happening.
1234567892022 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 Madame Hoch has a great torso. That face is a lot less accurate than the 2018 one. Quirrell looks nice and has the same prints as last time, other than Voldemort's face being centred.

I still prefer the 2018 one but I'm glad we have a good non-exclusive variant.
Tariq j Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I like the stars they’ve added on Quirrell’s torso. The positioning of Voldermort’s face is an improvement.
