Oh boy, I really don't like the sound of that.

If it was a $100 set, then I'm cool. But a $250 D2C? For a chess set? Ugh.

Though I don't care for it the D2C is probably the best of the bunch imo.

If this is the best then I'm seriously worried about the rest...

Please come with all the challenges, please come with all the challenges, please come... The chessboard alone will be extremely disappointing, but other rooms would definitely justify the price and give an opportunity for more figures

Just saw that so is that a definite confirmation? As in chess set only, no other side builds

Yeah, i see why Guyon and Falcon said the wave will be disappointing to fans earlier expecting DH and Gringotts.  I bet, though, it'll look incredibly good! If it's anything like the 2008 Castle one, it could potentially be fantastic. I hope there are some side builds or something extra HP.

Welp, there we have it :shrug_oh_well: At least it‘s better than a Hogwarts Express D2C set

Yes its much better because with Hogwarts Express I would have urge to buy it but with this one, I can skip it with zero regrets.

So that basically means the rest is brickbuild because any minifigure playset, even remake is better than D2C chess lol

I’m actually looking forward to this one, I enjoy chess, and one that’s centered around Lego and Harry Potter is a must have. I do hope for some minifigs but seeing as the chess pieces will probably mostly be minifigs anyway, I won’t hold my breath

Tbh its not about not getting DH and Gringotts. Disappointing is that we are getting something which probably most of us wont even buy.

Oh my. I hope not! Hegwig was ok, but i can't imagine what a 120 brickbuilt could be that would excite me to buy it. :cry_sad:

If all of them are brickbuilt creatures,  my budget can now include the newly leaked Discovery/Hubble set.

Definitely agree.

That doesn‘t even make sense, don‘t forget the leaked Hooch minifig  Or do you expect that minifig to be included in a $120 model of a broomstick or something?

We know that 120 one is brickbuild so I wonder what could remaining sets be if they are even worse according to Guyon. I would like flying lesson, same with Hagrids hut remake at this point and I would take even Qudditch remake so what can be worse than that.

I quite like the pixie though the trans blue is odd I wonder why they didn't just go with solid blue.

The chess set dtc is exactly what I expected, easy pass.

Well, I have a limited budget of sets, and have typically prioritized HP, but if it's too many bricksets, it frees me up to buy other sets on my Maybe List :)

True on the Hooch1 I am a sucker for good minifigures. Who knows. I can just dip into retirement and buy all of them

who is that, what credentials

I'm skeptical since KA1 said they'd have a juicy spoiler in a matter of days and just disappeared until now, when someone ELSE posted speculation of the rest of the series being brickbuilt.

I guess I’m in the minority of people who would actually love a LEGO Harry Potter Chess Set. I think this would be a really smart move on LEGO’s part too - chess set sales have increased exponentially following the success of Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit. And LEGO would be the perfect medium for Wizard’s Chess - it allows you to “destroy” the pieces you defeat (“barbaric” as Hermione would say but oh so fun) and rebuild them. It would make for a beautiful display piece, too. I’d also love to see a Dejarik board for LEGO Star Wars but that’s a story for another forum.

Re-sharing my comment from March 3rd following the prediction a LEGO D2C Wizard’s Chess Set. I am actually excited for this set and I still think it’s a very smart move on LEGO’s part. I have so many friends and family members who have spent hundreds - even thousands - of dollars for beautiful chess sets to display in their home following Queen’s Gambit. I, too, have been tempted by a few midcentury vintage marble sets I’ve seen but couldn’t justify the astronomical price tags. This will probably be a day one buy for me because it scratches two itches. I hope it is as beautiful as I am imagining it. Can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the Knight piece and if there’s a way for Ron to ride it.

So for August we are looking at a chess set, a flying class moment set?, a brick built creature of some type (probably Fawkes) and two other PS/CoS sets yet to be revealed/rumoured?

There's no moment set. And where did you get info that we will get brickbuilt creature?

On a side note I was looking at the price lists on the front page and someone rumoured some Quidditch student pack but there is no £15 and below set?

Hogwarts Chess?

At least I've guessed a prediction... not sure I will like that. Not really interested, but maybe Lego created something unskippable.

Are we expecting a golden minifig even in this set? I mean, the 2001 wave had 8 charachters (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Snape and Quirrel.), plus Voldemort 9. So one per set. Unless they won't put golden Hagrid, but this would be strange.

Golden Quirrel is from D2C? It'd be logical

Quirrel would be logical, but I suppose someone else would be better for marketing (e.g. Dumbledore)
