The August Fawkes set would make sense to be a similar scale to the Hedwig from 2020 then they could do a series of them as the years go on...

Yeah, I could see a very good Fawkes buildable being the 59.99 set - 76392 making it just a bit larger.

Without reading throught endless pages, what did I miss something? On this page (189), I think I saw “chess” word, so I’m assuming the D2C would be Wizard’s Chess, right?

News is the $250 D2C is a chess set based on PS.

I get why some in the thread are saying "easy pass", etc. already, but I'm learning more and more to wait and see with these sorts of sets. It could be an amazing build with great details. I'm envisioning a platform on top for the board, then the ability to lift off the top revealing a chamber below with the various challenges. Who knows, but there are some cool possibilities. Just wait and see, maybe it will be something we like more than we thought. I really wanted a Gringott's instead of this (and I think we'll get one eventually anyway), so the enthusiasm is a bit low, but I'm willing to wait and see the actual set to determine if it's a pass or not.

So 2 sets confirmed just need the info for the other ones to come out now

What's the second confirmed set apart from Chess D2C?

I knew it :shark: I wonder how it will look, to me it makes most sense that it just is the chess set. However like the previous chess D2C set it is possible to make a lot extra even if it is "just" a chess set :classic:

The only exception is the little statues which ride the Knight horses, which I imagine will be minifigures, both for scale and because the horses need to accommodate a figure so Ron can ride one.

I sure hope so would be great if the set included 4 moulded horses :sweet:

I would have much preferred the Gringotts. Oh well...

Wouldn't we all  However I think next year is likely for it still :shrug_oh_well:

Yeah I am calling it, this chess set is gonna be big flop for Lego...

I hardly think so, the Lego employees are not stupid and they would not make it if they did not think it would sell a lot. I am sure a lot of adult HP fans that are not into Lego yet would love a piece like that :shrug_oh_well:

I don't know if Fawkes has the iconicity that Hedwig does.

Well it's Dumbledore's phoenix, so why not? And in COS he had pretty big role for just magical bird. Plus he's Basilisk's greatest enemy

Blimey - take a day away from the forums and it all kicks off! I doubt I'll personally buy a chess set - far too many other things out there - but it has the potential for some useful parts. Maybe I'll end up grabbing some off Bricklink.

And I'll save me some money in the process - win win! :pir-wench:

Oops I forgot the Fawkes wasn't confirmed :look:

So it is Fawkes , that set should be an easy pass for me unless it looks spectacular. I wonder if that'll come with an exclusive Dumbledore. I can't see it being better than the CMF Dumbledore though.

Still can’t get over it that I guessed the D2C all that time ago 😅

I wasn’t being cynical with my prediction, just based on the information/advice given and trying to think outside the box. I also had in mind Hamleys Toyshop in London which has for years had that wonderful PS Chess Set on display, along with many other props like wands, time turner, snitch etc I always had a look at it when I visited that shop.

Given what everyone else is saying about the £120 set, I wonder if it’s unreasonable to think if it could be a smaller and more affordable Micro Hogwarts: the complete castle on a square base, no interior or micro figs. Like the many MOC’s on IDEAS.com

I'm guessing it would be a golden Dumbledore.  Probably a minifigure scale Fawkes to go with it, similar to the Harry and Hedwig included with the buildable Hedwig set.  It would be another opportunity to get a new mold of Fawkes in flight.  Getting a new mold for that seems likely if they could include it in more than one set.

That's a good point. Simply they produce different type of sets for different niche market (obviously they can always fail, but I suppose they do research on market like any other entreprise).

In my case, for example, I'll never buy Hogwarts Crest (nore one nore four). I'm not interested. And I suppose children aren't interested in this sets. But adult HP fans probably yes, maybe even if they're not Lego fan and don't collect HP Lego sets. Simply, children and I are not the target for this set :classic:.

WOW. Come through with the new moulds, Lego! :angel_sing: This year we are getting three figures (cat Hermione, Crabbe + Goyle) and one creature (Cornish Pixie) I FELT SURE could only come in a CMF Series.

Now, regarding the Chess Set, it's actually a really nice set to commemorate the 20th anniversary of PS Movie; and it's something I used to want them to make. But the fact that it disappoints me just shows how spoilt we are with this theme. :grin_wub: I always want to get HP Lego for Christmas, but can never wait for the sets until December, so this and January's art sets are perfect things to add to my list for Santa. :moar:

I really hope the buildable Fawkes is coming at around the same price as Hedwig was. I would love that. :cry_happy:

Have we had any confirmation that the Pixie is coming in a set we know about? :look:

 you clearly didn’t watch The Toys that Made Us on Netflix about LEGO. Oh my, they made so many mistakes and errors.

I have been saying that its long overdue to have a CoS and Fluffy and a chess set so actually this wave turned out alright. The only thing I dont like is they made them very different to the existing sets so it would be difficult to combine

Still I mostly wrote this to brag that my predictions were mostly correct :P hahah

Well again it’s not confirmed to be a expansion but I don’t think it will just the chess set

WHAT? So, there's a chance there will be the other challenges, as well? :pir-vader:

It's not. Though this is probably the worst set of the bunch imo.

Has anyone seen AshnFlash's latest video? It nicely sums up everything on the chess set idea. And also covers the buildable creature idea.

Isn't he posting a joke rumour that originated from a user on here about the sorting hat? :pir-sad2:

Maybe the 120 set is buildable pixie with the new mould in the set

I screamed. :pir-murder:

We don't know that the chess set connects to the other Hogwarts sets, right? Wasn't that just a guess?
