Besides it wouldnt make any sense to release just one small DH set this year with all anniversary ones.

I recently visited a Lego exposition and there was a bust of Hagrid (note the spiders to add texture to his hair!). It made me wonder if the buildable Harry and Hermione will be something like this too.

That is why Ron is not included he hates spiders

They‘re only ~$60 each, so roughly the size of a SW/Marvel/DC helmet/head. Detailed enough for a stylised helmet, definitely less so for a human head

I think they‘ll be heavily stylised, like deluxe Brickheadz or something. Going the ‚realistic‘ route can only go wrong at this price point :laugh_hard:

Expect something along the likes of Giant-Man and Ares, just bigger.

So they really are giant minifigs, as Falconfan once speculated? Sign me up for that

The only issue I have with that idea is that it establishes a new style on top of Brickheadz, Brick Sketches, Art sets, and helmets  If they do well, I don‘t think they‘re able to resist the urge to do other characters in that style, especially in themes like Marvel or Star Wars. Or they‘ll reserve that style for characters that can‘t get the helmet treatment

Well, they could actually do Ant Man at the correct size...

I was sort of thinking, maybe a giant could be moc-ed based on these figures, because it should be about the size of one in the books.

Well, of course, I was talking about the style, not about the size :classic:

Wow, I was right! Now I'm really excited for these, and I hope they pop up in other themes as well, like Star Wars, DC, Ninjago, etc. Judging by the piece count and price, I imagine they'll be around 8x the size of a minifig, or 2.5x the size of the midifigs- I imagine each foot will be eight studs wide, with everything else scaled accordingly. At $60 each for something that will be very large, that's definitely a much better deal than a lot of other LEGO products, and I'm excited to see this hopefully blossom into another subtheme.

That said, my one worry is that a big Hermione statue wouldn't look right without her uniform skirt, but they might leave it off the maxifigure (patent pending) to match with her minifig.

So... are we going to have a new Hrry Potter polybag this year or nah?

We are, it has an August release. But we don't know what it is yet.

Ok, thanks for your reply! I was not sure if there was any info on that polybag lately.

I just thought of something, not sure if anyone has brought this up yet: Maybe this is what inspired the buildable figures?

This was (or still is?) on display at multiple LEGO stores (the picture above was taken at the one in Glasgow 2 years ago, good times). I can imagine customers asking store employees if something like that could be turned into an affordable set  Could also be a coincidence of course, but keep in mind that the frequency of customer requests at stores is cited as a reason HP was brought back, so decisions being made as a response to customer feedback at least isn't unheard of

That statue is entirely designed around being a functioning chair, I don't think a scaled down version of that exact statue would be very appealing. You may be onto something with the year1/2 oversized minifigures of Harry and Hermionie standing around something though. The issue is coming up with what they would be standing around. Would it be something functional or decorative?

Well, I meant the general idea of buildable large-scale minifigs, not the chair they‘re standing next to  I don‘t think there‘s anything included in that set besides the „maxifigs“ (and a golden minifig, hopefully)

There shouldn't be any builds beside H&H themselves and their wands. While I could definitely be wrong on this I don't think there are any figs in this set either.

Even no golden one?

This would be interesting as it could mean there are only golden figures in the June sets and the buildable Icons doesn’t come with a gold fig either

I'm pretty sure that even if August sets won't have golden figures, D2C will. They just can't not do

(emphasis mine)

I don't know how many times I've said pretty much this with regards to this year's sets, and yet... I've concluded they are governed by complete different parameters than I'd expect (sure, let's introduce a whole new style why don't we?), and I haven't a read on them at all.

The 6 golden minifigs we know of can‘t be it. I mean would they really omit Dumbledore, Draco, and Hagrid? *huh*

True, but it‘s still the same team as far as we know. Unless they‘ve been been replaced by polyjuiced phonies

Oh, and one more thing. Either Guyon or Falconfan said there's three more golden figures coming

I'm with you.

Of course, Lego could have followed some strange path... but I would be truly astonished not seeing golden Dumbledore, Hagrid and Malfoy.

I mean, they're creating an entire celebrative wave of sets, with golden minifigures taken from the 2001 sets they're going to celebrate (apart from Voldemort, easily explainable inclusion)...

... could they really included a golden Quirrell and not golden Dumbledore, golden Hagrid and golden Malfoy?

Who, creating a celebrative collection of minifigures, would included Quirrell, but not Dumbledore, Hagrid and Malfoy?
