Judging by the sheer number of frogs and their colours in almost every room (white, brown and pink), I guess the CoS set was designed by Nicolaas Vás who also made two of the Hogwarts Moments sets this year and is on one of the portrait stickers in the Transfiguration classroom book

Had not thought about that, but you are probably right  From what I understand he likes to include all types of animal moulds in sets not only frogs , but frogs are usually the easiest to fit in at least smaller sets. However here he managed to fit some bigger ones as well :grin_wub: I am pretty sure he did not make the Hogsmeade with no frogs let alone any bigger animal moulds :hmpf:

Can anyone here give me a fair estimate of what they think the dimensions (L×W×H) on the new hogwarts sets combined will come to? The biggest factor for me when buying it is space so I wanted to know if it will fit my desk or not. Thanks for any possible help

I think I've found my first nitpick with Hogsmeade.

The Three Broomsticks has lattice work on the large windows, but not on the small. I thought this was weird, as the lattice infill piece is available in pearl gold, but I realised on the left hand side one of the windows is one of the three tall window pieces, for which there isn't yet a lattice part. The other options would have been a sticker like in Honeydukes.

It would have been great to get the actual pane for this, as the windows look a little too open and bright without the lattice work.

Still love the set of course!

Wow, I totally love these! They’re so much better than I expected.

Something I really like is that they’re not trying to make the Great Hall and Tower look the same as the 2018 one. They could quite easily be another bit of the castle - they’re a different shape and a different layout. As someone who isn’t bothered about stuff being in it’s “proper” place, this is great as I can just pretend the duelling club is in some other smaller hall.

The exterior looks great and nice and busy, with lots of really interesting shapes and designs with the arches. I really love the way they transition from the castle to the rocks underneath.

The Chamber of Secrets also looks pretty good - a shame there’s no floor in front of the head of Slytherin so it looks a bit disjointed but I feel this is MOCable.

That basilisk is a bit weird though, what’s with the teeth on its sides?

Hogsmeade on the other hand is perfect. I love it.

I believe they are meant to be scales just executed in a unique fashion to say the least.

I suppose you could display your 2018/2020 Hogwarts looking at the exterior and display the new one looking at the interior.

I think that‘s the way I‘ll do it  Luckily for me, my display cabinets have built-in mirrors, so I can always see both sides at once :head_back:

I can picture him getting the job:

Marcos: „Hey Nick, you wanna do the new Great Hall set?“

Nick: „Sure thing!“

*Marcos leaves*

Nick: „THE TIME HAS COME, MY BEAUTIES“

Wow, I didn’t realise the slide connects to the girls bathroom when they’re joined together. That’s AWESOME (if obvious). I am a huge fan of this new style of modular-ness

I really like how they're making the most of the roof space in the Great Hall. Compare the amount of fun stuff we're getting compared to the 2018 GS Tower which was so bland by comparison, the line is really coming along well for both minifigures and interior details.

I also have a feeling there might be some sort of surprise (gem/cup sort of thing) hiding behind the lovely black Hogwarts banner.

Oh, finally good images! And images of the interior. Time to update my ratings .

1) Hogsmeade is still my favourite June set, nice exterior and interior (I prefer Three Broomsticks to Honeyduckes). Rosmerta was on my to-do-list, so it's good they create her and she's my favourite charachter in this set with Mr. Flume, not a known charachter, but it's always good to have common witches and wizardes. The other minifigs, for me, are just good :snicker:. After prelim images I gave Hogsmeade a 8/10 rating. My rating doesn't change. Final: 8/10.

2) Chamber of Secrets interior gives the set a good improvement. I hadn't the old Hogwarts Castle and Chamber of Secrets sets, so nostalgia play a big role on me. I like all the tiny cured details of the set. Minifigs are very good, I particularly appreciate Dumbledore (he suggests me the first Dumbledore in Hagrid's Hut with Hagrid, how many played hours!). I don't like Riddle, still prefering the book version I have. And I'm not so enthusiastic for the general appearence of Chamber of Secrets and basilisk, but I could change my mind when building the set. It was 7/10, now for me 8/10.

That's where the Sorting Hat can be placed.

The sorting hat is stored behind there

Reading through people’s comments, it seems I’m in the minority for absolutely loving the exterior. To me it’s different enough to be just a completely different section of the castle, especially the tower which doesn’t seem at all alike the Great Hall Tower. And I just think the detailing is fantastic. It seems much more higgledy piggledy than the previous Hogwarts sets which were very neat - and I love that, it’s exactly how I imagine Hogwarts to be.

Laughed totally too much at this. 🤣

I just noticed that Riddle's diary has new cover. Thought they're gonna reuse one of the old prints, but it's awesome that they didn't

I think if I was to display the new castle section with the older modules I would just think like @sammy_zammy and think of it as just another Hogwarts section and not the Great Hall. I do like the fact that the Hall section is raised on the rock, but other than that the 2018 version is superior to me, whereas this one could just be a corridor section someplace else. What I take away from these builds is mainly the figures and then all the little details - creatures, books etc.

The prelims already showed off that new print though.

Better than expected but just ok really.

Sure the interiors are pretty good, but no better than the past few years. Overall a downgrade on what they could have been if they'd stuck with the 2018-20 style.

These actually look a lot better than I was expecting. Still not completely happy with them (especially the 'tower' in the chamber, its not thin enough and the bottom is kind of messy imo)

The figs are really good and the interiors are great!

Weird how they use the classic snake in the dueling part, ig they just don't want people to confuse it for Nagini? idk

Also, what is that 2x2 thing with the guy on it in Hogsmeade, is it like a candy bin or something?

Interesting how much they switch around the castle when all 3 are connected, the bathroom makes a lot more sense there

i think dean’s new face print is the one we saw on one of the leaked eternals figures - the character played by kumail nanjiani

This new Great Hall exterior recalls me the 2010 one in 4842_Hogwarts Castle. Somehow a worsening respect the 2018 Great Hall. I find the 2018 version more elegant and refined respect the 2010 and 2021 ones. For example, im my opinion the spires on the long side of the Great Hall are better made with a spear tip (2018 version) than with a cone (2010 version) or two 1x1 slope (2021 version). The same with the exterior pillars, narrower in 2018 version. Generally the new Great Hall appear squatter, losing the charachteristic gothic verticality.

The new sets look really good. I think I like the modular building structure. The interiors look good, the statue of Salazar Slytherin is great, the Basalisk too, nice to see the Sword mould again (bit surprised were having a third new Diary design). The Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom while small is nicely designed, great paintings of Lockhart, smart to have his office on the floor above, also nicely done (specially like the signed photo print).

The Great Hall is well done (cereal boxes and owl lecturn) but we really didn't need it done again. I get they wanted it for the dueling club, but I think the Hospital Wing would've been a better inclusion.

This ties into the minifigures. Why is Luna here?? I would've taken Penellope Clearwater (despite we don't really see her in the film) or Ernie MacMillan who's in a deleted scene instead. And I would've definitely chosen Madam Pomfrey over Sinistra, as she actually looks after the Petrified people, these three actually tie into CoS. Tom Riddle isn't that great, but all the others look pretty good, I like the Lockhart print.

Hogsmeade is a much smaller set than I was expecting. The fronts look really polished though.

I still have the dvd extras of Prisoner of Azkaban (there's one bit where you can 'walk around' Honeydukes) and I'm impressed at how well the Lego designers stuck to the Honeydukes interior, they've got the cotton candy in the window, the jars behind the counter and I really like the glass display with a man having his hair done by house elves. And a nice book reference with the acid pop jar.

The three broomsticks is pretty good too, moving the back room up a floor makes sense for the set, the layout is small but done well. Really like the Shrunken head sticker on the door.

The minifigures again a little mixed. Nice to see a new version of Dean, Madam Rosmerta looks much better than I thought she would, McGonnagal's fine, Mr Flume they really captured from the dvd extras, Mrs Flume almost looks good but the pink is too vivid for me. Plus I wish they didn't repeat faces from Bellatrix and Helga Hufflepuff. Would've been cool if they gave Harry his invisibility cloak.

Let me say because I didn't earlier, I love the Hogsmeade set still and the attention to detail across all of these is quite nice. If I hadn't been collecting the 2018-2020 castle sets, this would definitely be appealing as a wave.

It was mentioned early, but I find it so odd how a fake professor Sinestra leaked when she wasn't even rumored to be in it. The leaked one was the reason we know she's in it, but it turned out fake, but she's still in the set. Kinda crazy
