Ok so I actually had a very negative first reaction to the minifigure pack but after the reading some of the comments on here and coming back to the set picture it’s not so bad.

My first thought was that it reminded me of BAM purist customs, which I myself had a go at last year for Diagon Alley - I recognised Scrimageour just for his hair but all I could see when I looked at Diggle was Ollivanders torso. That being said, the female witch has some very useful pieces and I’m really glad Rufus didn’t have Lex Luthor’s head

I’ll probably pick this set up at some point, at least it comes with more new characters than last years

The minifigure pack definitely follows the trend of this wave - being totally unexpected!

Personally, it's fine, but it does feel like a figbarf pack made of random minifigure parts, and not very special compared to other recent packs. Some of the parts are quite rare or from very expensive sets, so that's cool, but I do think a Quidditch pack with all four house robes would've been better.

Kind of wish the two men looked more wizard like with peaked hats and robes. The men feel a bit generic. Glad we can get more of those bottles though. Since harry has his Dumbledores army list maybe these are extras for Hogsmeade village rather than Diagon alley?

If the figure on the left uses the face of Wuher, I'm not so sure it's suposed to be Rufus Scrimgeour. The face they use has a stubble, while Rufus Scringeour is clean shaven in all of his scenes :sceptic:

"Harry Potter and the characters no one cares about"

One of the biggest complaints about the D2C Diagon Alley was the lack of minifigs - especially of random wizards and witches to populate the set. I wouldn’t say no one cares about these characters. And I don’t think their inclusion in this expansion pack means we won’t be getting a Leaky Cauldron set at some point. In fact, I think this means we are more likely to get a leaky Cauldron set now... I guess we’ll see.

One day it's complaints about us getting the same popular characters unnecessarily repeated (Cho and Cedric in the Moments sets, Luna in the GH) the next it's complaints about us getting unpopular characters. What were you expecting, a "characters collectors want" accessory pack including CMF quality figures?

I will actually buy this (I probably wouldn't have bothered with a quidditch pack) but I do have two issues with it.

1. Harry's torso. Not only because it's yet another thing from the DA which is no longer exclusive (I'm all for important things being made available elsewhere but there are plenty of different Griffindor robe prints available in multiple sets and CMF figures) but because it just doesn't look good paired with full size black legs. Definitely my least favorite Harry figure from the reboot.

2. These should've been included with the DA in the first place.

Since Doris and Diggle were both in the Leaky Cauldron, does this mean NO pub in the near future (like Griphook in the CMF due to no Gringotts when the CMF was out), or does it mean a Leaky Cauldron IS coming but they wanted to save budget for more familiar minifigs in the set (like Moaning Myrtle in the CMF to compliment the upcoming bathroom set)? If the pack is still on shelves in summer 2022, I figure it might be either way, since we will see a return to "normal" sets next year

They could still do a Leaky Cauldron set based more on Prisoner of Azkaban instead.  Perhaps something like that could include the main trio (Hermione can reuse the Hogwarts Express torso), Tom, the housekeeper/maid, and perhaps Arthur Weasley.  It could also include another Monster Book of Monsters (Maybe slightly different printing from CMF?) and if we're lucky, they could include a new Crookshanks mold too.

While I like some parts of the accessory set, none of it really ties together.

You've got Dedalus Diggle & Doris Crockford, who appear in PS. Okay.

Then you've got a jar of leaves, okay maybe that ties to the apothecary?

A jar of sweets from Honeydukes?

Then the Dumbledore's Army sign up sheet. Err, nice print.

Rufus Scrimgeour. Okay I'm glad he's included but doesn't tie to anything else.

If they wanted to have two people from the Leaky Cauldron, why isn't the printed tile Harry's list for school: A wand, pewter cauldron, dragon hide skin gloves, an owl cat or toad etc.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Even had the same idea about the housekeeping witch minifig and the Crookshanks mold suggestion. Spooky. Maybe we are clairvoyant and this is a set currently being designed... This accessory pack would be the perfect way to turn a Leaky Cauldron set from Prisoner of Azkaban to Sorcerer’s Stone.

Hi,

So it looks like that there will be not any HP theme GWP ? cause both BH looks like regular sets...

I'm disappointed that we're not getting a quidditch pack this year, but this set looks fine. I guess I'll go stock up on that magazine with Cedric then to at least get a Hufflepuff quidditch team.

Context is key though. In the context of Hogwarts students, people are tired of repeats and want some less known characters (in my opinion all that really matters are the torsos as the hairs and heads are easy to customise, but that's just my opinion). In the context of a figure pack, three fig-barf figures potentially passing as characters plus Harry aren't what many people were after, or certainly not what some people were expecting given that last year's pack was a mass-able student pack.

My point is, if you are going to release a character pack, then include actual characters, not random extras

Like a quidditch team would make more sense as a character pack

Random extras? Not actual characters?

Rufus Scrimgeour - renowned Minister of Magic after Cornelius Fudge who openly defied Voldemort. Murdered after he chose brutal torture by the Dark Lord himself over giving up Harry Potter's location and played by the amazing Bill Nighy.
Dedalus Diggle - Order of the Phoenix member who appeared in several of the books/films, protected Harry as part of the Advance Guard and tasked with the protection of the Dursleys during the height of the Second Wizarding War.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong.

Rufus Scrimgeour had two important scenes: one marks the very opening of DH part 1 with his speech at the Ministry that sets the tone for the film incredibly well and the other where he hands the trio Dumbledore's bequest (minus the sword of Gryffindor of course). His two scenes are short, but very impactful :classic:

I partially agree with you. Scrimgeour is not an extra in the films, but the other two most definitely are. That's why I'm still thinking that the three figures aren't actually supposed to represent any characters in the film.

He has 0 lines and his name isn't even mentioned in the films though lol

And he has quite a number of them in the books, which we know LEGO looks at as well. Would you guys rather have gotten even more Cho, Luna and Draco figures?

I'm 100% fine and happy with having wacky witches and wizards to fill out DA or other sets. I actually like this minifigure pack. I just think it'll be strange if LEGO actually based half of the pack on characters with mere seconds of screentime. Like yes we did get Florean Fortescue and Mr/Mrs Flume, but they at least fill very specific roles in the sets they come in.

I guess we'll see what the deal is soon enough :shrug_oh_well:

Honestly I think the best option for the overall look and the quality of the Quidditch players is, if they release them with printed dual-molded legs in a third CMF. Because although the current torsos are nice, they look horrific with plain white legs. The robes end abruptly and even with the cloth cloak it looks weird because the seam of the cloak is already printed on the torso.

So if they were to give them the quality cmf treatment they could make them all look really good and give us a new broom, bludger, helmet and quaffle mould as an added bonus (spread across all 4 house players). Just think about it. If you would buy the current mediocre figs en masse in Quidditch accessory packs now and then 1 year later comes the perfect Quidditch Ron in the cmf for example. You would be pissed.

They could make it work in an accessory pack, if they returned to the printing style of the 2011 Quidditch torsos which only had the Quidditch team sweater (without the printed cloak), give them each a cloth cloak and the same dual-mouled white and reddish brown leg pieces (with the same boot printing because there would have to be no cloak colour on those legs if they went for that style)

The inclusions honestly make a lot of sense to me.  We've wanted extra characters to fill out Diagon Alley and there's no point giving us generic witches and wizards when there are some with actual screen time which fit the bill, mentioned by name in the films (Doris Crockford) and a recurring character in the books (Dedalus Diggle).

Scrimgeour is an outlier but I understand the inclusion, he's a wizard from the wider wizarding world (not Hogwarts based) who we would be very unlikely to get otherwise.  We'd never get his speech at the ministry or the reading of the will.

Hannah Abbott had less screentime and no lines from the last accessory pack also.

I highly doubt LEGO would use 1/3rd of Series 3 for Quidditch figures though.

Why not? Obviously a lot of people want Quidditch teams for all 4 houses and are outraged now. It is actually a better inclusion than for example casual Hogsmeade Ron or Kingsley because you would acutally want to buy multiples of that figure and not just one. It is an archetype lke the Roman soldiers in the first few CMF series that are "army builders" and made those series so succesful. Recent cmf series mostly lacked those army builder characters (only the space police, knight and viking come to mind) and it would help the sales of the cmf. Also like I mentioned the figs would be more detailed and would offer likely new a mould along printed and dual-molded legs
